PSA: HighQualityColor should always be on unless you have a potato graphics card. Nikita didn't explain it very well but what it does is it improves the overall colour quality of the final scene render while also using a colour format more suitable for your GPU. Modern GPUs prefer your screen to be rendered as floating-point values, 32-bits per colour component (total of 128-bits per pixel), this is because modern GPUs are incredibly optimised FPU devices and they prefer everything to be in 32-bit float for this reason. By creating and passing the framebuffer around as a RGBA_F32 type, you get some pretty nice performance gains when performing texel copies and sampling in the GPU shader program.
@@maatu_boe erm the only graphics cards that were ever even close to that price were not consumer cards, and instead were quadros. Consumer cards rarely venture north of 1.5k euros and were in fact less money back in the day. He is talking about the fact this generation has had a major jump in performance this generation with regards to price. One we haven't seen in a long time.
High-end GPUs are getting cheaper...but a 'high end' is a 1080 or higher. If you are only going to look at the new shiny then, of course, they are going to be 'overpriced' especially with the scalpers and whatever else going on.
For those reading this in 2022. Turn postFX off if you want a huge fps boost. I'm running a ryzen 7 5800x and a zotac rtx 3060 with 16gb ram and I'm stable at 115-120fps on all maps. Around 75-87fps in the most difficult places on reserve
tip: if you're running Borderless or Windowed mode and also wanting to use g-sync make sure you have g-sync enabled for windowed and full screen modes (nVidia control panel.) pretty sure it defaults to only work on fullscreen modes.
This is correct. Also, anyone using gsync, make sure you have vsync enabled in the nvidia control panel as well, or you're not actually using gsync and will still get tearing.
Auto RAM Cleaner: Turn on if you have 8GB or less, otherwise keep it off. Physical Cores: Turn it on if you have more Logical cores than your Physical cores. (How to check cores: Go to task manager, performance, CPU, bottom right corner.) (It will say "Cores" for physical cores and "Processors" for Logical Cores.) These could change in the future.
@@NoisR Not trying to be agressive, just trying to help... 13gb for EFT, you very likely need to give it a restart. If you have 16gb and you need Autoram cleaner, you have something else eating your ram in the background. Optimize your PC :)
@@seriousbeing7328 also a question isnt it normal to have more logical cores than physical? like a 4 core has always 8 logical or not? my old old old pc had 2 physical but no logical cause that wasnt a thing back then. i have 4 physical cores and 8 logical should i use physical only?
Pestily, for the Reload, you can set the R to "Press" instead of "Release" so the o.5 seconds it waits starts as soon as you press the key and not once you release it. If you're gonna quick reload you're gonna spam R anyway so you can stil do it fast enough.
Mag selection menu is something you need only if you've really planned for every minor detail and encounter. Which for me is never. Game automatically reloads the fullest mag anyway I think. Plus I always keep the mags in order in my rig/carrier.
The thing about FOV is setting it lower will make your view zoomed in which makes the items that render in the center of your screen more clearer sacrificing the view at the side of your screen while higher FOV does the opposite where you can see more stuff at the side of your screen which lower FOV doesn't but your center vision will be more blurry. Also, higher FOV gives you the illusion that your character is running faster than lower FOV.
Hopefully these settings will help me with visibility. 100 hours deep and I still cant see people... its so unbelievably frustrating because it makes me feel like I'm not getting better lol
@taych Lol sure, all down to your skill. What about Dorms on Customs. If you set shadows to low, once you're a certain distance away, the room actually lights up for you if you look in the windows, highlighting anyone looking out the window, even if, on their end, they're in total darkness. Or, if your textures are on anything other than Med-high, bushes turn into a complete flat texture that obscures players perfectly. While I admit, spotting movement and things like that is hugely important and is definitely something that needs to be practiced for these types of games, settings often do make a big difference, it's not "all down to your own skill" someone with a high-end PC is always going to be able to spot you first, and then there's bugs like the one I mentioned with Dorms. The worst offender being draw distance and grass, if you set it low enough you can see players prone-ing through bushes and grass easily, while on their screen they're completely hidden (DayZ was is bitch for this)
@@colby1398 no you do get better at noticing shapes and movement. Also learning the hard way where you get shot from... you check closer and notice the difference with or without a player in spots... so training your eye to spot players Is a skill
an interesting point with volume. I am a pensioner and have good quality hearing aids in both ears. I find that keep them in when wearing headphones and the volume set fairly high.
a good key bind to change is change the double tap O to see extracts to release O that way u press O to see the time and when u release O u see the extracts too. i also change grenade from press G to double tap G. no accidental nades when trying to search.
I love setting 'check fire mode' to 'double click B'. I also changed check mag and check chamber to 'V' and 'double V' respectively. You never really knife, so I just changed that to 'K'
a keybind i recommend is switching 'toggle tactical device' to a thumb mouse button; no more turning my flashlight on when i check my mags, and its easier to activate a flashlight in a moment of stress switching the scope magnification, switch scopes to the other thumb button was majorly helpgul as well
This video made me see how my settings made me loose more raids. Ledgit didnt ever see anyone in shadows. Also, had only 50-70 fps, now after turning off the Z-Blur and other boxes at the bottom i have 110. Thanks a lot!
Just what I wanted, I appreciate every before/after pics that helps me understand what I need and why you've choose that specific settings. Really Would want to thank you for this quality video.
14:41 Anisotropic filtering actually does improve something. AF works by filtering out textures that you see at an angle by making them seem clear in the furthest point as they are in the closes point. The improvement can be seen especially on floors or fences. Especially fences. Fences might seem like they're popping into existence at a certain distance as you move, if you have AF off. Other textures generally look blurry without AF on, if seen at an angle and from a medium distance.
I keep telling people this same thing. Moat people don't actually understand what AF does, they just see filtering and assume it's bad. They turn it off and wonder why everything further than 2 meters out from their POV is blurry asf. Maybe that's why so many Tarkov players crank their sharpness?
Normally I ignore information and help videos bc I like learning on my own. Which for about two weeks I haven’t but recently on my third week of tarkov I’ve been watching your videos, especially the interchange stash video, and I thank you 500% bc my income and gear has sky rocketed especially in flea market. Also your strats work perfectly depending on game and map
Glad you guys have shared your discard keybinds. Needed to free up my mouse4/5 for a new keybind, and that makes a lot of sense to do a shift or ctrl left click for discards. That will probably speed me up a bit too.
22:00 You can reduce the time for double tap - it’s 0.3 default, but you could theoretically drop that to 0.2 or more as long as you tap fast. I do like the Ctr-R to reload, that makes A LOT of sense.
Trying these out in offline raids, and I regret not finding this video when it came out. Thanks for this Pest, especially explaining each option and what they do, and for parsing Veritas for me! Cheers mate!
When running resolutions above 1080p (Like Pestily running 1440p) TAA High is no longer needed. If running 1080p or less, TAA High is VERY noticeable and a benefit to all for game clarity.
A small correection in the video, m.2 is just the connector. You have m.2 drives that use SATA(the conventional SS) as well as NVME. NVME is faster but the difference in games does not matter, sata SSDs are just as good.
@@arteonyx yea the price is about the same I think in most places(it also depends on several factors like QLC vs TLC vs MLC) but in general if you use a sata or m.2 sata you are missing out on like 0.5s faster loading at best, upgrading from a normal sata to nvme is therefore not worth it
Interface volume affects the main menu buttons etc, it doesn't lower the sound of you searching in-game. you can lower it as much as you want the in-game searching sound will not change.
Thank you so much for this man, I was at 72 max FPS with my last settings and was dropping below 40 when ads. I’m in a raid and haven’t dropped below 120fps. This is a game changer dude! The sound and sensitivity setting feels more natural compared to what I had. Thanks a million, I’m going to have much more fun/confidence when I go into raids now!!!
@@Aydamnify I took pictures of his settings and mimicked it to a T. The big one was turning off vsync and not having any of the boxes checked (the only one I had check was color boosting or something). After making those changes I exited the game to make sure everything switched then I instantly hit 122fps saw one dip to 118. It’s a different game now! I see posts about graphics cards and I’m running a 1070TI Graphics card and 32gb of ram. Basically his last setup with a lesser graphics card.
If you using AMD GC try to change graphic setting to “compute” instead of “graphic” it might help you with few frames, also try to turn off post FX settings and sharpness in AMD settings it will also can help you with few FPS, last thing that helps is textures to “Medium”
nah, 6800xt, just crank it lol. i havent been able to notice much of a difference in framerate between turning some settings down and leaving them maxed, then again in alot of cases the gpu is never fully used even with a 5900x at 1440p when below 120fps (i cant get my framerate to uncap doing the vsync trick with the game and readeon control panel). hopefully one day as the game progresses and they focus more on polishing well notice a good performance uplift in how everything gets handled.
Regarding the quick reload: I'm pretty sure you could change the "quick reload" button rather the "reload" button. Then the normal reload will be 0.5s faster as it won't be waiting for the double click confirmation.
Idk what changed between this video and the other 'optimization' video, but i think this one may have actually fixed my performance issues. I think it was the physical cores thing too. Thanks pestily!
Now, I play on ESDF movement to have extra keys to the side in all games, in shooters reload is always "A". All you need to do for reloading, make it "press" instead of "release", and just put it on "A" in my case, or "R" in most other peoples' case. Make quick reload ctrl+A (ctrl+R) instead.
CAREFUL! Object LOD on 2 might mean that people you see are acually behind some cover that is not loaded in for you. Happened to me a few times. Do this on your own risk.
there's actually a really good reason to limit your FPS. if you have a 60hz monitor, running the game above 60fps is of hardly any benefit as your monitor is only able to update the screen 60 times per second, and its just causing your graphics card to run hotter than it needs to be. playing at like 90fps on a 60hz monitor is of minimal benefit. it just very very slightly helps with responsiveness. if you have a good PC and you're still playing games on a 60hz monitor please do yourself a favor and upgrade to 144hz asap.
If you're interested in the G Pro Wireless, look into the new Superlight, or G Pro Wireless X. Lighter weight, updated coating, and they got rid of the double clicks.
thanks these setting have really helped my experience, can actually see in dark places now. only thing i struggle to find my way around without compass on screen.
@pestily The reason you saw no change between 1080ti and 2080ti is because EFT is shit at cpu usage. setting render range to 400m and lod to 2 is best for the most FPS period. Edit: the difference in performance when CPU capped because of Draw distance is 0 from 1000 and up but @ 400 to 1000 is a big difference.
M.2 drive is the form factor not the type of drive. When you are saying "M.2 drive" you actually mean NVMe SSD. There are M.2 SSDs that are SATA not NVMe. SATA is considerably slower than NVMe. In conclusion, M.2 or 2.5" drive means form factor (how they look and connect to your MBO). SATA or NVMe is the SSD type(which is indicative of their speed), the interface you transfer information through. Two different things. Keep up the good work!
Great video. I use the same graphic settings and almost the same POST FX settings. I play a lot of night runs on interchange. Of course, its night and in a dark area you are not suppose to see good which is why the game has flashlights, night vision and thermals. It is realism. I have a problem seeing at night IRL. I have only been playing for a few months but I noticed when I went into the buildings I couldn't see ANYTHING at all. It is bad. Anyways, the one setting I change when running in game at night is the POST FX setting "Color Grading". I set this to Olive at 50. There are other color gradings and I have not played with them all but this works the best for me. I have spent countless hours testing settings to see better in dark areas. Its just a life changer. It will give the game an odd color during the day, so you can turn it off when you are running regular daytime raids. If anyone cares about keyboard layout. I found the following much more preferable. Set Check Magazine to T. Check chamber to T double press. Shift to hold breath, one press. Ctrl to crouch. Z to prone. X to overhead fire and C to right side blind fire(if you don't use blind fire then don't worry, use X for discard item or whatever). I have U for discard, I for compass and change Run to Shift continuous press. I set mouse 4 for scope zoom. Mouse 4 double press to change scope type. Mouse 5 single press is Tactical Device ON/OFF and double press to change Tactical Device type.
Anisotropic filtering is for seeing textures more clearly at an angle. When i tested this setting you notice more blurry terrain and textures from an angle with it off and with it on your terrain and textures will be more clear...
Antistrophic filtering does a ton how do people not realize. It makes distant angled textures way less blurry. Easiest two ways to tell is look at a distance flooring that has a pattern and turn it on and off. Then go on labs and look at any sign or poster from a side angle, with it off its nothing but blur, with it on you can read everything on the poster fine. These are just simple examples of its affect, but it works on tons of things. Nvidia control panel is generally higher quality if you set it on in there, especially on high quality. Ever since I saw the difference in ground textures, it is so important to me since it costs very little.
18:04 Regarding loud noises, I recommend everyone to download "soundlock", which allows you to set a limit to all the sound coming from your computer. This game is very loud, protect your hearing, guys!
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE FOVs!!!! PLEASE READ - The biggest thing between the FoVs is it changes the eye relief with Optics, this has the largest effect with magnified optics. Please load into the Hideout and check in the shooting range if you do not believe me - Low FoV with (for example) the Valday leaves you with the black ring around the optic and it sways with character movement. HOWEVER, if you set your FoV above 60-65 (I sit at around 70) you remove this entirely and the Valday becomes one of, if not the, cleanest optic in the game.
regarding SSR: In my experiance... with the state of the game right now - when its very foggy and you have SSR:ON you will get a little more information. You can see the edges of some objects in the distance, like trees or buildings that give you positional information which you wouldn't otherwise have and you get bugs like sunglasses or car windshields glowing white, which you wouldn't see with SSR:OFF. IMO, even though it can look kind of crap, its worth having on if you have enough grunt to not lose FPS.
@@titus17 normally it doesn't but the game is bugged and places which get reflections show through the fog when they shouldn't. (like sunglasses or edges of buildings and random shit like that)
Your video and veritas video together gave me what I would think is the best settings I took a little advice from each but I will Not sacrifice any image quality.. well not anything I would judge that is a significant... it looks awesome. I average around 95 to 105 FPS. I don't know what everyone else gets I'm pretty new to the game I'm on a 144Hz 1080p monitor with a 6700 XT & 3700 X
Yea I think Ill just live with the .5 of a second before a normal reload, ill lose so many mags if i make single R a fast reload - my muscle memory is too heavily trained to just press R. Good vid, this + Veritas's graphical vid is a solid combo for a baseline of settings to work from that is significantly better than stock tarky.
The easiest thing to do is make R standard reload set to Press. Then I bind side mouse button and R for fast reload. Set to Press. 90% of my reloads I want to keep the mag. For the 10% of the time I need bullets right now, I just hikd down my thumb when I reload and I'm good. Discard set to Ctrl and right click works great for me. You can hold Ctrl down and left and right click to take and drop things.
CPU: 5600X (with stock cooler) GPU: 6800XT Doesn't matter what settings I use I get around 120fps average at 1440p. In Radeon settings I overide the AA with "x4 Multismapling", Anistropic filtering "x2" and Tesselation to "off". This way I have a crisp smooth image without the blurriness of TAA. Textures high, shadows low, HBAO very high colored, SSR high and everything else off.
Just for a bit of info, M.2 drives can also be SATA. When you refer to M.2 drives the fastest stuff is PCIe Gen4, Gen3 is more than fast enough. SATA M.2 Drives are also a thing and shouldn't be ignored. One of the biggest factors in tarkov loading times is your CPU, a faster CPU will allow game assets to load quicker into memory. That's where the real performance gains are to be had when loading, so long as you're loading off at least a SATA SSD you're gucci. :)
Don't need the video for settings but I saw it went live one minute ago so I came here to say hi dad thanks for all the great content. I miss your mustache.
Pretty sure the high quality color option was 'always on' before adding the setting and by default it is on. If I remember correctly they added it to give an option that might win a few frames per second on lower-end rigs
A serious issue that was not mentioned is the latency of AA. If you turn on TAA, there is a noticeable click to screen latency. I know it looks great on TAA, but if you wanna hit your shots, FXAA is the way to go.
If your on amd. In radeon settings for tarkov i have turned on virtual super resolution. If your experiencing low gpu usage turn this on and set to a higher resolution in game. Then adjust settings till you get smooth fps. Helped alot , makes the stutters almost non existant. im running b450, 3600x, 5700xt. usually around 70-80fps on pretty high settings.
So, one reason why you should have your Object LOD up to 4, is if say a wooden box or set of barrels aren't rendering in for you, and you see someone and think agh, easy head shot, they might actually be in cover, and your easy shot will just alert them, or someone closer to you. Unfortunately there are many magic objects that don't render but provide full cover. You can find them all over Reserv and there's one book shelf on the second story of east wing in the spa that has caught me out a few times. Also, it would be funny to see seperate servers in the future where shadows were locked to max distance that forced everyone to play with them on.
FOV I always just say it depends on how far away you are from the screen. I usually have FOV in games around the 70-85 range. My brain appreciates the ingame fov making sense as I sometimes get nauseous if it doesn't match irl fov.
