I would happily use any of thes mics though really liked the KSM85 maybe not quite as bright as some of the others but well balanced, beautiful and smooth.
Thank you, brother, it means a lot to us. Derek from Vanguard Audio was here all day yesterday and I’m about to release a really fun video within the next four or five days! I’m editing it now. Hope to see you back in the comment section soon, my friend :)
I have never been more entertained by the opening of a mic shootout video. You committed to the bit and won. First time watcher, and I NEVER like and subscribe on the first video, but here I am..... well played
Thanks my friend! Yea with life and the vastness of all creation being what it is, I honestly don’t take much of anything too seriously hahaha Thanks for stopping by!! ❤️
The KM84 is the only mic in this shootout we felt didn't need any EQ to fold into a mix. Like the unassuming sound of that Martin D-18, which was actually quite unlivley (opposed to say, a boomy D-35 that requires more EQ). That's a huge plus in the mixdown process! Great ear brother.
I jusy bought a pair of Akg 451....so those are the best ones to me 😂😂😂 Kidding aside.....they all sound great the 451, KM84 and JOLY Oktava sounded " beautiful to me"😂
Hi - It's no secret that with a great artist performing great content, you could certainly make an entire quality record with any one of these mics, by itself. It's rumored Dark Side Of The Moon was made mostly with a single KM84. Al Schmitt teaches us that with proper mic choice and placement you hardly need any eq or compression at all, if any. With the power of filters, we can make any mic work in any way we want, on pretty much any instrument (withstanding SPL's, interference and noise of course). Thanks for the comment! Subscribe for more vids I have coming out like this. - JML
Note that you can no longer do the Joly modification to the newer Oktava MK-012s because they have different internal circuitry. The newer Oktavas basically have a lesser version of the Joly mod built-in, so they sound better than the older, unmodded mics, but not quite as good as a Joly-modded one. Plus, I don’t think you can order the Joly mod anymore, so it would be difficult to mod an old Oktava anyways. So, unless you MUST have a Joly mod, just buy the newer model.
