you make me wonder.. could you tell an average statistic of all videos, or a few days later a stat of this video in percents about how much did watch till the end?
The sad part is, most will say, 'this is too complicated", wait till you get compromised, THEN you will know what complicated is! Thanks for this excellent video, much appricated!
I didn't skip the ad. I watched it for I think a whole minute. Edit : WOW! First time in my life, I got respect. It feels truly uplifting to get more than , merely 10 likes. I feel like inspiring the generation for good. Thank you, everyone.
I have the ads disabled for this channel. He's worth more than anything comparable because it is privacy related content. Thank you Hated One for keeping us informed.
It's because of your videos that I have a much more secure Android phone, desktop PC, and Chromebook. Thank you. I knew quite a few of the tips, but I also learned a few. The information you put in the video is priceless. On a side note. A report was recently released. It has been proven that ios is no more secure than Android. In some ways it is actually less secure. So the myth that Android is less secure than ios can finally be put to rest.
I used to make debloated ROMs for some Android phones, you wouldn't believe how much shit tracing you there is And remember this was a few years ago, it's probably 3x worse now
Ante Radić why is it that i cant turn an android phone into a linux phone? i know ubuntu has a rom but i figured other linux distros would be more popular. When i try to look it up people are saying the phones dont have the right hardware and i dont understand why there isnt a linux software or rom compatible with the hardware
@@saiyan-lord4714 Android is an OS running on the linux kernel (somewhat modified), with a lot of stuff added by google, and then a lot of stuff added by 3rd arty manufacturers like Samsung/Xiaomi/LG/etc So android can be considered linux, or a linux distribution, however, it is much less free than practically any other. In addition, the open source android operating system doesn't include things like google play store, google maps, etc, and these are usually only given to phone manufacturers, so your experience using it will be sub-par. Your best bet would be probably lineage os, a community-developed ROM. Also, even windows has an arm version, and you can find a video of some guy running windows and playing modern warfare on his oneplus 6t. The issue is that most linux distributions aren't made to work on a device with no mouse and keyboard, and only a touchscreen. but there are distros that will operate on a phone, like f.e arch linux arm, it's just that they likely won't be very useful, and will probably be slow. Android cut out a lot of things to make it faster on slow mobile processors.
Emperor's Golden boy aaahh so those people were telling me bullshit and actually is other software from samsung and google. I looked at lineage too. Whats your take on "purism" that they are using on the librem 5 linux phone? And do you think purism can be used on a rooted android?
@@saiyan-lord4714 I don't really have a particlar take on it. It seems like a nice concept, but I doubt it will take off soon. I don't know how well it works, so I can't say much. As far as your second question, I assume it is done using bootloaders, and not in the same way that you would install a new OS on your laptop. So yeah, it could be used on some phones, but personally I think just running lineage os is easier. I also just saw that there are a few devices that support ubuntu arm outright, so you can totally ditch android, but no new phones unfortunately
Finally useful tips in plain language beyond basic tips from “startup manual” but still accessible and understandable for not too tech savvy users. Great Job! Thanks indeed.
you can also use with net guard host file appending (adding to the hosts file) settings > backup > import hosts file (have a host.txt or hosts file ready for it) :)
This channel always blows me away. I feel like you shouldn't need to invest time in this to know you are secure, I wish the OS cake like this natively.
I use netguard and like 98% of all apps (including system apps) do not have access to the internet. I have a Xiaomi and I found out that Xiaomi is twice as a security and privacy risk as another mobile smartphone because Xiaomi collects everything about you and since I can't root my phone, it is becoming more and more complicated over time I had to find another solution, which is a VPN. Netguard is in my opinion the best option. Consumes very low battery (unless you activate the registration of log history which is not needed all the time, only when you're figuring out which digital adress's you want to block in each app). Although I noticed that some system apps, for example, device location sends data even when the internet access is blocked. I don't understand how.
I don't have a cell phone, no joke. My cell phone came out of my motorcycle holder and was lost while riding. I couldn't even find it after a Google Map Device locate told me where it was. I went round and round with the major carrier I was using and they were useless. So I ported my cell number to a VOIP service that is text capable that I use, cancelled the cell service, then I added a 4G Netgear hot spot to Mint Mobile and am getting 10gigs/month for $20. Now, I only use one of two 8" tablets that connect to my hot spot via WiFi. The tablet runs the VOIP service mentioned and I get calls and texts from my former cell phone number as well as the VOIP service original number. It's a much larger screen so it's perfect for mapping, WAZE and everything the cell phone could do but bigger and better while riding. I have it paired with the Blue Tooth 4.2 intercom in my helmet as well. I'm saving $60/month with this configuration and I'm thinking it's much more secure than having a smartphone directly connected to the cellular network as the hot spot provides some fire-walling between cellular and the WiFi side. When I hit my favorite watering hole, I take the tablet off the Ram Mount just like I used to, but now it switches to the bar's Wifi (the hot spot is on low power) and the IP address switches seamlessly and everything still works. When I go home, I turn the hot spot off as well as the tablet as the above calls from both numbers ring on my computer, desk phone and other tablet. I couldn't be happier.
There are a lot of apps that would be harmful to your device. For example you download apk editing app/apps and the app that you download need the support of the other app so that the app that you download will work on your device. The second app that you download is an another app or space to support the apk app you want to download. And this second app will get your email address, password and other personal information saved on your phone which is not safe and at the same time they can use your email or password to access.
Why in 10:38 is either Brave or Google Chrome? I rather use Firefox( I'm saying the "Normal browser", not the Focus version mentioned in 10:40) than Google Chrome when talking about "Privacy".
I think, this might be a time for you to advise us the entired new video series of how to choose password management software or app that could be trust.
I love how he says google is bad but uses a ton of google services like... well youtube, and says if you lose your phone enable find my phone with google etc. :D
Great information! Thanks. Can you please do a tutorial video on how to configure Bromite browser for optimal privacy.? Some of it is confusing, like configuring proxy and dns.
You don't have to configure proxy. Just enable "DNS-over-HTTPS" and choose any of the providers listed (you can go for Quad9 if you don't like Google or Cloudfare).
Correction: Bromite browser (Bromite.org) doesnot allow installation of browser extensions. Pls correct it. Apart from Firefox, the only Chromium based mobile browser to allow extension support is Kiwi browser - it also supports translations for them who need it often....
on a windows laptop. .. did you know, you can buy extra usb internet antenas and run several, plus your built in antanea hooked to one isp connection and increas your bandwith ??? yes you can
Can you do a new video on windows 10 please? Also to touch on where we live? E.g. I live in France, UK citizen, windows 10 is in English... Does this make any difference???
Here's some advice. Don't use SMS for 2FA or account recovery. (Can't remember if he mentioned that), you could be MITM'ed or sim-swapped. With sim-swapping being potentially very devastating. It's how a lot of people lose their entire crypto savings, by having their whole fortune accessible in some form through SMS authentication. They get into your email thru your phone number SMS account recovery, then that compromised email is used to request password reset requests from all your other important accounts. Boom you just got fucked. And all it takes is convincing a phone carrier agent to move your phone number to a new SIM card.
Is there a way to make my phone ask my password before powering off, before turning off data etc? Because else if my phone is stolen the thief will just switch the phone off and I'll never find it.
that's a good question but when the phone has a removable battery it won't help much because without power the phone is immediately turned off. if it doesn't have enough power there might be also ways to reduce the power of the battery very fast by creating a shortcut. against not specialized thiefs this might be however good.
If you jailbreak your iOS device there’s a setting like that. Where it doesn’t let you power off your device without a pin or fingerprint. There’s also another thing in which let say someone puts the wrong password in your phone it takes a picture and sends it to your email and their location. Its really crazy
Try using a degoogled phone. There's also Librem 5. With the latter you might not have the best user experience, but it should be pretty secure are private.
Orbot and NetGuard does not work together either Orbot or NetGuard. I use Orbot all the time on Android. I use Firefox Preview as Browser and some other Apps thru Orbot.
Bro all your videos are very informative. Thanks for it. A request to provide a video for privacy respecting/secure keyboard app on Android/IOS if there is any
I’m totally blind, and I’m using ios. I have a couple of phones, but my 6splus will not update past 12.4 or whatever was before the 13 business started. Someone said this was stuck at this level and could not be updated. Then, on another site, someone said that you can update. Do you know? Oh, and I really can appreciate your videos. Ever thought about doing one about the 23 and me lady being married to the president of google? Hmmm.
I first encrypt all my photo & video folders using gpg in Linux then upload it to Google drive. This way u get a free as well as reliable backup solution, but it might not be convenient to some..🤷♂️
