I think at 14:50, you putting pressure on the seat triggered the alarm. I've been hearing that sentry mode triggers the alarm when weight is detected on the seat.
That Beeping noise is actually one of TWO possible sounds the alarm makes, the other being the cars actual horn along with the music! to answer your question about what potentially triggered the Alarm State is probably your body weight being pressed on the seat..
Lol it uses A.I. which is why it eats battery. It only triggers if it determines you are a threat I believe. I think the only guarantee trigger is opening a door (either due to a window being down or first breaking the glass). Someone jogging past would not be a threat vs. someone jogging and slowing down to peep in the window for example. Also having your key or phone on you (if it is paired as a key) may change what triggers it. I definitely think and tilting should trigger it though.
I wonder if due to your phone being near it knows you (the owner) are there and you are just confusing the system at times? Just a thought. Thanks for the video :)
Yep, I thought that, although I double checked and I always had my phone in airplane mode and ensured bluetooth was off. It didn't unlock the Model 3 if I went near it. Sentry Mode use to be really sensitive and trigger all the time, you'd have 10 events for a 30 minute park, now it seems tuned down, but maybe too much and doesn't pick up as much. I think they need to find somewhere in the middle, especially as it's now easier to see the Sentry mode video. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
@@TeslaTorque I used to work for a firm that made car alarms and whilst this one is not perfect it is better than most. I think if I remember correctly that the 2021 Tesla Model 3 has a better alarm setup with a better intrusion detection sensor which is inside the headliner above the windscreen. Hopefully current systems will be upgraded via software so you will find it much improved. Great video by the way and much more entertaining than most so called professional auto journalists.
You'll have noted I did it in a very remote field where no one could see :) I thought it wouldn't pick me up as much as it did to be fair, I'll re-run the test in the summer to see if software updates have made any changes, I'd like a sensitivity setting, as lately found its not recording as much :(
@@TeslaTorque Yeah you can but it costs twice as much as an ICE 12V battery and in some cases it degraded in 1-2 years while ICE 12V batteries can last up to 7-8 years (i changed mine at the Ford we just sold after 7 years with heavy winters ...) There are several discussions on Tesla forums that talk about this. Sentry mode is not the only problem but is one of them. Also sentry mode does not continuously records which is what most people think and expect for the high energy demand (1kw per 3-4 hours is A LOT...) It only has the motion sensors and cameras on and activates recording IF and WHEN they detect something. As you prove in your video almost half of the times it doesn't detect anything so.... A continuous recording would have been much better in my opinion. And then use the sensors for activating the alarm when there is a break in. Otherwise it does not seem to work right. Nice video though, and informative, i had a few good laughs :)
if somebody breaks into your car sentry records the footage to the memory stick in the car so whoever is being filmed can just remove the memory stick. USELESS
