Hey Tabula, that rule is actually incorrect more often than it is correct. Only by the rules of the Associated Press style handbook would you write a singular possessive like "Linus'" or "Chris'". By every other official style of English writing, such as those recommended by the Chicago Manual of Style and the Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications, the correct method is to write "Linus's" or "Chris's" to maintain consistency, as the nouns are still singular.

Tabula Rasa Both styles are used, it depends a lot on where the person is from. You'll find that in the USA (maybe Canada too?) people would find Linus' more correct whereas in the UK and Australia it's generally accepted to use Linus's for the proper noun possessives. For what it's worth however, I think the US system is easier to understand as when we are talking about the possessive of plurals, for instance "the nerds' games" we don't add another 's'.

True, I actually didn't think about a non US version, chalk it up to exhaustion. To me personally, Linus's doesn't look right and would be an additional thing that isn't really needed, considering it's possessive. Linus' is just looks a bit more fitting.

what i really want is an robot vacuum that can change the dust bin for a moisture bin and an mop addon. boom mopping and vacuuming automated. sadly there isn't any real good robovac for that at a reasonable price. xioami has an good robo vacuum that i would gladly pay an 100 more for if it had this functionality but alas.

I like the new set. When Alton Brown from Good Eats fame first started his cooking show, they filmed in the actual kitchen of a staffer. The kitchen was so well done and liked that when they moved to a studio the built an exact replica of the real space. Nobody could tell the difference until he made a behind the scenes. Very cool.
