Doesn't matter what spec you buy. Once you drive and understand 911 Porsche they ruin you for other cars. Even the performance numbers Porsche quote are seriously underrated.
The reason you see older dudes driving gt3’s is they are most often the ones with the money to buy the things. I think geezers often prefer turbos is they are a better daily. Gt3 can be loud and harsh due to the track bias. Another factor is wives. They can ride in a turbo gt3, not so much. Of course dudes shouldn’t allow chicks to influence important decisions related to fast cars but that’s easier said and lived.
Even the base 992 is fast as hell. These new turbo models are insane. Personally, I think it’s more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. You can’t even use 25% of the car , or get out of 2nd gear before you’re going to jail.
I do not think there was anything behind SpeedEpic’s statement TurboS is for old men, other than the statement itself. I don’t agree with him. I’m 55 and I’d rather have a GT3. From 15 to 52 I wanted the 959, or 911 TurboS, but what changed my thinking was “ownership!” I got my first Porsche at 52, I “settled” for a 991.1 S and like so many before me as soon as I got it I was looking for my next 911. Last weekend I drove both, and I cannot stop thinking about the GT3! It’s visceral and something you have to experience to understand. The pull from 5k to redline is incredible. I’ve heard this so many times, people saying it wakes up at 5k… they are right but I didn’t understand until I drove it. At 5k the GT3 is like, “oh yeah, hold my beer!” My advice is drive both and decide for yourself where you land.
