Cool idea, though what if part way through the video the viewer makes the connection that the process is happening to them right now. Rather than a marketing vid it's more like this is what is happening now no need to fear.
"I am here within the Cybermen's captivity willingly. On an important Mission from the Earth Federation and the alliance's academic research into the Cybermen's conversion process that they use. Within my body are a series of Nano mechanisms that will transmit and document the process as my body undergoes Cyber Conversion to the highest academic and military authorities to study for the future. It is not the Process I fear though...is it the feeling of what comes after it." -Some piece of Big Finish Lore about a Classic Era Cyberman Empire Victim's fate
@@mitchellalexander9162I remember seeing a stop-motion animation of that clip made with action figures. I think the guy who made it used a Snape action figure for the Archivist.
I highly reccomend spare parts, a doctor who audio story about the origional mondasian cybermen. It also has some horrific implications about the transformation process.
woah a doctor who analog horror? that sure is unique! i love this idea, it makes the cybermen even more horrifying (cause to be honest the concept is very scary)
I liked Sleep No More. It tried to do something different even if it didn't quite work (I'd say that was more due to the limitations of the writing and production team.s)
Only thing that would've made this any better is the repeated phrase used by the Cybermen: "You will become like us". But this is still something amazing. Did not expect to find Doctor Who analog horror.
WE NEED MORE AH ABOUT CYBORGS! Hell yes dude! you are giving me EXACTLY what i been wanting for a long time! Cyborgs like the Cybermen, the Strogg and Borg are so RIPE for Analog Horror like content and people keep focusing on alien organic diseases or such. It is cool, but i want to see bio-mechanical monsters outside of Freddy Fazbear like stuff. I am kind of writing on a idea about this right now, so thanks dude! I genuinely hope more stuff like this is done for others and maybe you. Thanks, thanks, i so hope other creators look at the beauty and terror of bionics for Analog Horror as it seems underutilized a concept.
Omg this is so good! I've recently been looking at DW animations/fan creations and this is so cool! Also most of them are from like 7 years ago or more so seeing one so recent was great! Earned yourself a sub there.
I loved this, it was so well done! You should really think of doing one with the og Mondasian Cybermen too, those ones have always been the creepiest imo.
Finally an analog horror for doctor who! This is great I’d love to see more doctor who analog horrors maybe focusing on other villains like the flood from waters of mars?
Ever since I was a child, I’ve actually really wanted to have my brain and nervous system placed in a robot body- I was a huge fan of the old Astro Boy manga and cartoon (which I do admit haven’t aged very well in some regards) and pretty much anything with mechs in it. So this concept is very cool to me. I think that this video is very well done! I’d love to see more Cybermen analogue horror. Maybe this is my sign to start watching Doctor Who.
@@backerthehacker3700 it’s different for certain types of Cybermen. The Mondasian Cybermen were moreso what you described, but the Cybus Cybermen just took the brains and shoved them into a suit of armor
Pain is the best teacher. ~ Akasha | How will a Cyberman be able to learn the important lessons of Humanity if he/she is not able to experience and feel the necessary emotions to understand ourself.
This is a great idea. I have a couple of bits of feedback: - Mr Sandman is very eerie, but I wonder if something more "2006 corporate" would suit? Some deep house perhaps? - The nervous system in the cyberman suits is artificially grown (as the Doctor identifies during the autopsy scene.) I don't think there'd ever be a way to actaully remove the nervous system from a human body.
I'd say to your second point, I can excuse retcons cause Dr Who has next to no consistency with a lot of its continuity, and in terms of realism, well it's kind a terrifying thought that might still try...
I am here to say that "next we will remove the central nerveous system" is exactly what made this video great imo. We've already been exposed to the idea that they remove our brains. What we DIDN'T know (until now) was that they also surgically remove THE VERY THING THAT SENDS PAIN TO THE BRAIN with knives and saws and all sorts of fun lasers. Technically the brain has no nerves in it so that part would be painless.
Using the Cybermen for something like this is genius. Horror and Cybermen just go hand to hand, I wish the show utilized that aspect to them more though granted… this would more than likely traumatize so many viewers. Especially that part with the beginning of the upgrade process and all you hear are the cutting sounds with the silhouette’s head being covered in blood red… that kinda got me. Well done, I’d love to see more
I mean, that was the original intent of the Cybermen of the 60's, showing a "what-if" of a person having so many prosthetics that there wasn't a clear answer to if they were human or machine. The Cybus Cybermen (or at least the parallel world they came from) were similar to this, mostly being a warning of an overreliance on technology, but too quickly (as in literally within the 2-parter they starred in) they became pretty much just a robot army without any flecks of humanity to show that they were originally human. I quite liked the Cybermen that 12 came across - Danny Pink's love triumphing over the emotional inhibitor and Bill Potts' conversion both showcased the humanity underneath the Cybermen's metal exterior well, albeit in different ways with different parts emphasised.
@@ThatFoxxoLeo Yessir. That’s why the Mondasian Cybermen are the GOATs. See I don’t really like that the conversion can be easily overrides by “love.” It happened in Closing Time too where Craig stopped being converted through the power of baby cries. I get why for story reasons but idk… makes it feel cheap. I do like Bill’s conversion though, for as tragic as it was. Something like Spare Parts also does an excellent job of showcasing the blurred line between human and machine, also very terrifying. But then again it has the Mondasian Cybermen, further proof that they are the GOATs of the Cybermen.
@@suddenisland5754 I don't quite mind it, really. It really depends more on the writing around it more than the trope itself, though. Besides, allowing for some emotional elements to show under very certain conditions does allow for the human underneath all of the prosthetics to be explored. But yeah, it's a shame the modern Cyberman are so misused because I do quite like their design.
Well technically not, since the only time being a cyberman kills you is if you are killed in battle, have the inhibitor turned off or have your fleshy components damaged while away from the base, so have a conversion machine scrap you so that it can upgrade someone else.
I kinda want to upgrade now... Really sold me on the idea. Think about it: is it really that bad to have your head cut of in exchange for eternal life without illnesses and stupid emotions?
this is SUCH a good idea. i'm not a huge fan of analog horror anymore as i feel like it is overdone and most series are typically very samey in their ideas and storylines nowadays, but i think that utilizing doctor who like this is such a cool and unique idea for an analog horror video! easily my favorite piece of analog horror now. also, i think that something similar to this that utilizes the sandmen from s9e9 would be really cool for an analog horror video!
This is so sick ur so talented! I feel so unnerved lolol! (I’d love to see Doctor Who incorporate an analogue horror element to it, esp if they bring back smth like Torchwood, where u can easily do these darker horror like plots)
