@3:47, the condo you are showing (with the Good Earth restaurant), is actually in Victoria, not Oak Bay. The OTHER side of Foul Bay road is Oak Bay! Ditto for Oak Bay Bicycles, which is just across Oak Bay Avenue fro the Good Earth restaurant, but again, on the Victoria side of Foul Bay Road.
Nice video. But no, the Governor General doesn’t live in Government House, she’s in Ottawa. That’s the Lieutenant Governor (pronounced “left-tenant”) you’re thinking of. Common mistake, no worries.
Thank you very much for the great work, it would also be great if the background music can be reduced when you speak through. The background music is really good that it overtakes your vocal modulations. Thanks!
Need to do an update. 15min cities. What zone do you work in. What zones do you have to be vaxed💉to get into. How many businesses employ the get vaxed or get fired mandates. The coming climate change lockdowns and the mandates and restrictions. Will definitely change things. For are health and safety right💉😂💉ah probably just a conspiracy 〰️🛩〰️🛩〰️🛩〰️🛩take care out there
So well done info is on point and relevant. I moved to the island over 5 years ago .situated in the central island , I've recently been discovering the southern of Vancouver island through requirements of work. This guide has really helped lay out the land and highlighted areas I'd like to visit
Great video and resource. My wife and I plan on retiring to the area and she is actually flying out at the end of this month to look at different areas. I will share this video with her as it will be very helpful. Thank you
Hi Robert. I am glad you liked it and I think you will love Victoria. Please don't hesitate to contact me (ira@irawilley.com or 250-888-2562) with any questions you may have.
What do you think of Parkville in Victoria? From what I can see it looks kind of undeveloped I don't see any kind of Costco or anything or Center to it. Am I correct?
Please make a video for international students accommodations( appartments in sharing and with less rent) and jobs, also your video was very helpful 🫶🏻
Great video, thanks. My partner and I are considering moving to Victoria in a few years, although I'm Scottish and live in the U.K I was actually born in Ontario and have always wanted to move to Canada, by sheer luck my partner might have an opportunity of employment in BC, Victoria is high on our list of places we think we'd like to live, sub for you and I'll scour your channel for more Victoria videos, I'm looking for informative videos much like this one but focusing on family / kids recreation & sports, schools & education, and employment.
Hi Ira, Great thanks for your kind video. It was very helpful. What would be the best resource for finding a house for rent? I moving to Victoria with my family in April... Thanks in advance! Iman
Hi Iman, the best resources are Facebook Marketplace, UsedVictoria.com, Kijiji and Craigslist. If you send me an email (my email is on my website irawilley.com) I can also ask in my circles if I know of any properties coming up.
Well done! Me and my husband who is in military looking to be posted to Esquimalt in an year or two so i would love to connect if you do real estate work.
Hi Natasha, absolutely. I have helped several clients who were relocated to CFB Esquimalt. Please give me a call or email. 250-888-2562 ira@irawilley.com
Hello, it is a great video I am moving to Victoria from Vancouver and now I have better idea about the different areas around Victoria, still looking for a place to rent, thanks a lot.
I live just north of the downtown in Cordova Bay and wouldn’t live ANYWHERE else. The entire island is paradise. That said….come with a boatload of money if you’re planning on purchasing a decent home. It ain’t cheap. Good luck.👍🏾
Hi there my name is Richard Clost and I am looking forward to living in Victoria. I am looking for something in a nice country area setting. Something like Langford .
Gereat video!!!!!! Hey, I have 3 questions if you could help me with them that would be awesome: 1 What would be the cheapest place to find an student room to rent and not super far from camosun college lansdowne campus? 2 How fast is the bus transportation between long distance like Sidney-Victoria and short distance like Esquimalt-Victoria? 3 Is there any public transportation that you can use to explore the island, like going to sombrio beach and back in a bus or somenthing?
Hello, have you tried Facebook Marketplace, the Facebook Rentals (group) and UsedVictoria? I would also check local subreddits (r/victoria & r/uvic) for resources for student accommodations. Sidney to Downtown or Camosun takes about 45 min to an hour. Esquimalt is much closer, perhaps 15-20 minutes. There is the West Coast Trail express that will take you out to trail heads near Sombrio. I would check FB groups & Reddit and try to find someone heading that way!
Nice video. Another good point in living in Victoria is the relatively recent building of a great network of bike lanes with more emphasis too given to pedestrians over cars. Forward thinking in transportation, cleaner air, action on climate change, and a healthier population is appreciated here. On the other hand, it’s discouraging to see Langford going against the tide and becoming more of a car-centric highway-widening sprawl.
I agree. I think there are some growing pains with the bike lanes now (I drive primarily) but in 10-20 years we will really appreciate the foresight the city has had.
Hello Ira yes you made a terrific promotional video of all areas Goldstream to Sooke, you highlighted all the beautiful areas very well but you did not highlight any of the issues Victoria and surrounding municipalities have been facing for the past 6-8 years, specifically Victoria under the leadership of now ex-Mayor Lisa Helps, anyone watching this video best do their homework ie; housing prices-food prices-gas-rents etc, oh by the way i was born & raised in Victoria / Gordon Head ,sorry Ira but this had to be said
Hello, Thank you for the feedback. I agree this video does not touch on many issues facing Victoria (homeless population, crime, doctor shortage, affordable housing). I wanted this to be an overview of neighbourhoods, but I do hope to make more videos in the future to dive deeper on some of our social and economic issues here.
@@IraWilley I applaud you for responding 👍👍, hopefully with Lisa Helps & Ben Isett gone Victoria can prosper again, the new Victoria City Council must take charge and actually make changes for future generations to come, it’s crazy to think a “living wage” in Victoria is $25/hr , it’s a catch 22 as businesses struggle to pay overhead such as rent/electricity/accountants/ taxes/ etc and try to pay employees a decent wage, most businesses in the service industry run on such a tight profit margin it’s make or break nearly every month, if I had 1 wish it would be that City Council listen to Del Manik
Amazing how the local Mayor always gets blamed for world wide housing prices, rising inequalities and the drug crisis. Typical right wing neo-liberals..
As someone who has lived here there entire life, I wouldn’t call it “micro climates” i would just say that Victoria has its own weather system Also Vic West is still in Victoria, you either forgot or don’t care
There’s a noticeable difference between the temperatures miles inland and the coastal areas, especially during particularly hot or cold weather. Just looking at the difference in the amount of snow in various areas makes that immediately apparent, and I’ve lived in Victoria since 1969.
