finally, someone is actually reviewing the product, providing additional information, and not just touting the product and reading the press release for it Good job 🤘
Always trying to give viewers as much info I can on a product to help them with their purchase decisions. I only want y'all to spend money if it's worth it
Thanks for the review! I am wondering, for the photochromic lens, how much does the colored mirror affect the color accuracy of the view? Does everything look tinted orange or what?
the mirror affects how much light comes in and somewhat for looks. Platinum and black mirrors generally block the most while the non mirrored block out the least. The photochromic shifts vlt based on the sun conditions so you don't have to change lenses with changing conditions. It won't perform as well as specialty lenses on the extremes (super bright or super dark) but will be good for most conditions. You don't see the front color on the photo chromatic but you will see a tint at first.. but your eyes will adjust and everything looks normal.. the goal is to protect your eyes from glare and harmful light. Since it covers your vision more than sunglasses your eyes will adjust and the tint will be less noticeable through your ride. This will be for any Smith lens options not just the photochromic The low visibility lens included will be rose tinted and will look very pink. However again your eyes adjust slightly but the tint will be a lot more noticeable on the low viz. it's designed to help you see things during high fog or darker conditions
Did your original lens come with a plastic protector on the inside that needed to be removed before use? I know the replacement lens obviously has one but I’m not entirely sure about the original lens because it looks a little blurry towards the bottom. Thanks
I live in the northeast so we don't get super sunny days a lot where I would necessitate a super sunny lens. Even when travelling west, the photochromic protects well for blue bird days. Those low vlt lenses really cut out the light so unless you're always skiing/ boarding in clear sunny days, it might be overkill. Even if you don't wanna spend the extra bread on a photochromic you can pick a mid vlt range I think they call em everyday lenses.
I don't have a timing on it unfortunately. But they seemed to react relatively fast.. never felt things too dark or not dark enough or like I was waiting for a transition. The only time I noticed is when it got stormy and I had to swap to the low light lens.
