Anything I missed or changes I'll list here! Wolfgang and Wormwood guides are next, leave your tips below! - Insight is gained slower the more you have, for example the 1st insight takes 5 days whereas the 15th insight takes 15 days, it still takes a total of 160 days to get 15 insight. - Hardwood hat protects you from taking damage from debris falling from an earthquake. - The Moose receiving Planar damage formula is wrong the moose doesn't have 45% innate planar damage reduction and natural damage reduction is treated differently than armor damage reduction which was my mistake therefore the following is the formula, Arcwell provided the correct formula, here it is: player alignment mod * natural damage reduction * (physical damage * armor alignment mod * armor reduction + (planar damage * armor alignment mod) - planar defense) - In the case of the Moose being hit by Spike attack of Deadly Brightshade, the numbers would look like this: 1 * (1-0.9) * (100 * 1 * 1 + (30 * 1) - 15) - Poison birchnut spawning mechanics are weird, naturally only medium deciduous trees can become poison birchnuts, and only chopping fully grown deciduous trees can trigger the medium ones to become poison birchnuts, in the case of the Treeguard Idol, it can only turn medium deciduous trees into poison birchnuts. Nothing missed that I see others haven't already pointed out, but I do have a question. If you want the lunar or shadow affiliation tree options for a character, do you have to kill celestial champion/fuelweaver with that character specifically to get it? Killing celestial champion with Woodie sounds like a pain in the ass without the lunar affiliation skill and I'm curious if I can cheese it
I believe you just need to kill them legitimately once as any character and it unlocks it for everyone, but I've killed celestial champion with Wilson, Wolfgang, Wormwood and Woodie, so I can't test without the kill tracked on to me as idk where the kill data is stored to erase it. Also I say legitimately because it seems if you 1 hit the boss it doesn't count as a kill, though I believe you can enable god mode and hold f to get the kill count.
Like Hound waves every single night, Tree Guards spawning every 10 trees chopped etc so sure it's harder but you get more ressources in the process so you would keep a Wes in a Cage to farm
I did the same thing about a year ago, now I'm addicted to the game, it's really good once you play it, even if you don't go as far as surviving a year and killing seasonal bosses.
I'm dying to see what they do with Webber's skill tree, if and when he gets one. Also, Wortox would be interesting to see. I'm just curious to see what they come up with for him. Honestly, I like the skill trees and can't wait for each character to get one. It also encourages people to play different characters to unlock all the skills.
@@Emerald1Winona and Warley really struggle as actual characters. Good features, but the downsides are so bad no one wants to play them as is. Hopefully these skill trees balance out the roster a bit more, because I’ll take any reason to troll other players in the dark with Winona.
i’m so beyond excited for a wendy skill tree! she’s my favorite character and i’d love to see updates to abigail’s abilities and the wendy specific potions!
Wow, A+ !! Thank you for going to such lengths to provide as with detailed and accurate info! I really appreciate the effort you put into this. Also, very nice job keeping this content fast paced and superbly edited despite going on a deep dive into what many might consider dry material.
Jakey, I have been watching you for a while now, quietly enjoying your adventures through the constant, opening my eyes to many new ideas - but this takes the cake. The incredibly detailed description of skilltree values (whose tooltips basically say "it's like a little better than before") is something I was sorely missing in other youtubers character guides. Thank you so much, for going so far as to even dive into the code of the game, to give us a real understanding what the talents are adding to the character! Your videos provide a broad perspective over a complex game, with a delivery that is clear and very easy to understand. You're a really good teacher, and I love how playful you are about this hardcore survival game, that can crush your mental constitution at times. You're also very handsome, do people tell you that enough?
I want to see you try kill a weaker boss like deerclops or something with full bloom wormwood automatically resetting bramble traps lol. The new bramble husk specialist perk is quite nice, not a game changer but appreciated dps that can let you easily kill a group of spiders by holding attack. I would love if you showed how often you need to apply super growth formula to maintain full bloom in different seasons with the flower power perk.
I didn't realize the power of that perk until I saw somebody do that same thing in the background of a video, they can do some work, I even saw a guy cheese phase two of Celestial Champion using just bramble traps and a dock. If you had a big enough bramble trap field I imagine you could cheese pretty much any land boss
Hey Jakey, I would recommend watching Vrisk Whisk's "You've been (somewhat) lied to about Weather" video because insulation, positive or negative, doesn't work against you. The large exception is thermal stones, as those are producing heat and not resisting heat. Winter (cold) insulation doesn't negatively affect characters when the world temperature is hot leaning (above 35 degrees). Hope this helps!
the most interesting part its what Hardwood hat actually protects your head from falling rocks in a caves during the earthquake, so hat from Woodie is actually epic!
i would love to see your wolfgang speedrun even though its outdated. I feel like your content is few and far between and a little more would never hurt. Maybe just do a quick fyi that its outdated at the beginning of the video. Love your videos keep up the good work.
Bro, I've never even played this game, but I am hella on-board for your throwing math at your face format. Thanks for making my weekend better, Jakeyosaurus!
So, there is a russian youtuber, who does the same thing, telling new players about DST. Unfortunately he probably left his channel, but know I can watch jake Edited: his channel name is Fantomasik
One nice thing is if you get character swapping, once your past the first winter and Woodie's crafting skills are obsolite you can character swap from Woodie into Woodie to reset his skilltree, letting you roll those 2 insight point's elsewhere, such as wearbeaver.
The helmet is still good for pigs and merms or resource saving, but the cane I don’t even think is worth it before walking cane. Beefalo are just better and easy to find early. Switching is best for going full goose early game and then swapping for moose and/or beaver instead.
The way you gather data and present all this is so amazing! :) Thank you for the excellent quality content!! I'm excited to watch your next boss runs! :D I had so much fun watching your Wilson boss run :) Very eager to see you slay bosses with Woodie's tree guards xD More power to you and your team! ^7^/ What a great time to be playing DST :'D
I don't play DST but after watching your channel for a while I've liked the game so much that I'm going to buy it, it all started with the all the characters ranked
My personal skill tree: First curse branch 4 Beaver 3 Moose 4 Goose 1 Treeguards 2 Shadow side most time, Lunar side when lunar event active This tree is for mid and late game And you can have tg 3 spam some idols and go tg 2 plus shadow because otherwise you need to turn off other skill to have 15 max. Cane and hat only good for first autumn.
weremoose 4th upgrade makes it unbelievably easy to farm spider nests! you just charge into one(even lvl3) and start hitting it. tanky enough to withstand the damage, and on every 3rd hit there will be less and less spiders to actually deal it :D
Bloody heck I thought I will never get to see it especially since u said during mobile stream that u needed some actors and since then - 0 streams. Welp at least 33% of job done. Well done as always mate ♥
I really enjoyed this video. You explain the character as fast as possible and in depth with reading trough the code. Yet one could have been a little bit more broader about the planar damage. You explaining the equations in depth is very professional but for the normal viewer who watches this video to easily understand the character, it could be a bit unintuitive. Mentioning the whole equations several times doesn't help for understanding. I would also love a review from you of the new reworks, if you would change something and if you liked it or not. Any chance of you making a more detailed video about Wilson? I had the feeling that in your ultimate character guide video Wilson was kinda brushed aside and you didn't mention how the alchemy transmutation can help players with their gameplay. I mean you did an excellent overview over Woody and how he can use his crafts (example: cheap Hardwoodhats for followers to also synergies with the extended following time).
Personally as a worm wood player his skill tree is kinda lack luster however it does add some very Nice changes, like compost wraps reduced start up or the item that basically gives any mob diarrhea, but the bloom form perks are very nice to have especially chlorophyll However I feel like worm wood should have a base 10 planar defense because he liberally is a shard of the moon
Dang these videos are so detailed! Woodie has always been a cool character in concept but now that the update dropped I consider him a good character. Thx for spending time letting us know all the changes.
Regarding the upcoming wolfgang guide, is a tip I use a lot. If I'm not taming a beefalo, I like to have my hunger low constantly. As normal wolfgang I'm holding the dumbbell so my mightyness doesn't drain so the low hunger does not matter, same as when I'm mighty which is when I'm fighting. The reason I'm keeping it low is so that once I finish the fight I can regain the leg day boost as soon as possible.
I love how this game is at the same time so simple in actual play assuming good enough memory, but runs a literal enigma mashine under the surface every time you hit something
I wish Klei would have given a wood-gathering skills to Woody. Picking all your logs is such a task. - Making it possible for him to have greater stock (30 instead of 20). - Picking 2 or 3 logs at once when they are close to each other. I main him for a long time. I love to come back from morph with a bit of Hunger, but it feels too much as it is right now.
Man I hope when Wes skill tree comes out maybe as a skill that costs a lot of insight it can make a balloon mech and instead of it being a normal one hit balloon ITS 2 HIT
