We got thrown the keys to a 2001 Nissan Skyline R34 GTR M-Spec, 1 of only 366 ever made for a few days and of course we take the opportunity to film it. It's not often that you get a friend that trusts you to take care of his now worth $300,000 R34 GTR.
A little back story about the M-Spec, the owner of this GTR has owned the car for 12 years now. It was purchased back when Skyline GTRs didn't have the JDM tax on them as they do now and cost $70,000 Aud. Recently, he has received offers on the car of over $300,000 Aud but declined the offer as it has been his dream car since he was 21 and intends to hang onto it for life. This is what inspired our short video "Sometimes, Cars are more than just cars". You could simply tell when you spoke to the owner that this car means more to him than just being a car or just financial value.
The car stayed completely bone stock for most of its life but the modification bug hit about 2 years ago and since then the car has had an array of top quality parts including the entire Nismo catalogue of parts put into it as well as what GTR enthusiasts term the "unicorn block". A factory Nissan 2.8L RRR Block that has only ever had one production run with production numbers only at about 500 and is the exact same block that is used in the 19 Z-Tunes that live in the world.
