For those curious, the changes are as follows in 3.1.0 as per the wiki: ▲ Increased the radius of the area where a player can be damaged from the shock waves of continuous stamp attacks by roughly 43%. ▲ Improved the turning performance when doing continuous stamp attacks, making it easier to change direction. ▲ When doing continuous stamp attacks, the stamp will now be displayed as translucent on the user's screen, making it easier for them to see where they're going. Also in 4.0.0 the duration is decreased, which can be mitigated using the special power up ability.
I think specials like stamp and reefslider are now completely outclassed in their roles now that kraken is a thing in the game now. Like ProChara said in one of his videos, I support the idea of making stamp completely invulnerable from the front, since right now it is literally a worse kraken.
And Kraken on Octobrush, even though I’m already pretty happy with it’s current kit, but I just want more than one good kit on more weapons. Like Splash or Ttek?
I believe it can stay if it’s actually coded properly and is actually good at killing and protecting at the front. Otherwise this has no purpose like reefslider.
It really sucks that its in this state because Ultra Stamp is the most fun special and interesting special IMO. Lots of ways to use it, and a hammer snipe is endlessly satisfying. But man, I've definitely been broken by how many times I've had to shout "how did he live?!" using this thing.
I also noticed that the rush mode in splatoon 2 always one shot opponents as opposed to splatoon 3 where you have to hit you’re opponent at least twice in order to splat them
It's funny that Wiper is a top tier not BECAUSE of its special, but DESPITE it. I love playing Wiper, and I hope they give it an actually good sub and special next time around. Also look mom I'm in the video 3:34 6:20 I'm still really mad about that clip lmao
@@mystic5175 Yeah torpedo isn't bad, I would just prefer something like Splat or Suction, maybe even Autobomb would be better. But you're right torp is great just not my favorite
As a Wiper main, this one hurts way more because I can relate. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of times I have been killed from the front during the rush mode. There are some matches where every time I use the Ultra Stamp, I instantly die from a front shot. Ultra Stamp didn't need to do more damage against Crab Tank, it needs to be fully invincible from the front. Not some protection hitbox that doesn't work half the time crap, but actual invincibility that works all the time, no matter what. Even with full invincibility from the front and a functional hitbox, Stamp still had plenty of exploitable weaknesses that would make it fair and balanced both to use and to fight. It would literally be healthy for the game, as a way to brute force through choke points while still requiring strategy and not brainlessly rushing forward, such as having a teammate protect your sides and back.
3:15 - Oh sweet! My clip made it in! :D A buff I would like to suggest for Ultra Stamp is feedback on when its about to end - like most other specials have; Crab, Kraken, etc. It's near impossible to keep tabs on the special gauge drain rate whilst using said special.
Both specials are painful bc sometimes they work and sometimes not. Reefslider more obnoxious tho bc i played more salmon run lately and god knows how many times this special has cost me my life =_=.
it's not that it sucks, it's that it's glitched, its hitbox still has a big problem, and the devs need to fix it, it's like the reef slider, its explosion is glitched too.
@@Chase247 You make a good point my dude. Any special that even has the potential to become great will forever be hindered if it's glitchy and doesn't get patched.
Ok post-video reaction, I feel like the Ultra Stamp montage was more painful than the Reefslider one because of what Ultra Stamp used to be in S2. My jaw physically dropped at so many of these clips, I know that in a world where Stamp was the same from S2 in S3, so many of these would not have happened. Stamp was aight in 2, but seeing it fall from being decent to awful and dysfunctional says enough about my stance LOL
IMPORTANT!!! If you want to get more mileage from your Ultra Stamps, don’t look down!! There’s currently a bug in game that drastically reduces the hitbox size of the stamp swings when the camera is positioned down…which means the most optimal way to hit someone with the stamp is to be looking forward…which also creates the issue of making things hard to see because the big damn hammer is blocking your vision. This won’t make Ultra Stamp feel much less worse to use, but it’s a small thing to keep in mind. Hopefully this bug gets fixed, and hopefully stamp’s forward protection actually exists someday. Until then, don’t look down if you can help it!!
they just need to make the swing bigger in general , u won’t hit someone on slightly lower ground because the hit box is so bad , plus u would also be looking down to see ur target
and FOR SOME REASON, when you move your joystick left to right lots of times when stamping the ground and going forward, you get more protection in the front, I swear I did this so many times and it worked, but it's not perfect.
It's viable as an entry and exit tool... and that's pretty much it. If you use it at all while under pressure, you're dead. I've had times where I used it to get in and take out a stinger, and then used the second immediately to get out... it's just not very impactful otherwise.
Playing salmon run, the shark slider special is still terrible. I jump off a fish stick tower activate the special and the fish still are able to hit me around and body block me off course or at worst knock me into the water :(
I think you guys don't get what Stamp is, just like Aerosprays, it doesn't fight, it is a Painting Special or if you want ig, a sort of Monozooka (I'm joking obviously)
I remember when in splatoon I used octobruh K. I’m not too sure about the meta back in the day but I remember it being extremely good at starting games to start killing others.
I don't see myself finding many problems with Ultra Stamp, so it weirds me out when I see it just not working at all for other people. As a Splatana Wiper main and potential one-trick, my biggest issues with Ultra Stamp are the minor design flaws like a lack of side protection. I will mention I do still come across some problems like Splatana Stamper's melee attacks just passing right through it, and the front just not having enough protection against certain weapons, but other than these two, Ultra Stamp has been functioning pretty flawlessly for me. I hope everyone else gets to experience Ultra Stamp like I do or perhaps even better someday.
You and me are the same man. I have the same experience with stamp as you. I to find it weird that some people are getting these jank hitboxes where my stamp hits just fine. (Its also why i think its miles better than reef) Although stamp still needs a major buff in hitbox and i would even say complete invincibility.
Oh, I have a clip. Did you guys know that Tacticooler beats Ultra Stamp when thrown. Not the buffs but the deployable cooler. And yet burst bomb has no problem dealing with this.
i play almost as many stamp weapons as i do reefslider weapons and both of these reels cut *deep* reefslider's vid was probably more painful since ultra stamp still leaves you with _some_ agency. like i noticed a few of the clips had people rushing down open sightlines which, yeah you're likely to get punished for that - you've got at least two extra options in jump swings and throwing the stamp. while reefslider is a kamikaze that locks you in place and leaves no choice but to desperately hope it kills absolutely zero excuse for stamp's collision being the way it is though. i have no idea why nintendo's been so turned on by the special when it's in... _this_ state currently. L-3 doesn't deserve this shit dude this was the KRAKEN season
I won my first x100 battle during a splatfest thanks in part to a thrown ultra stamp just.. not killing me even though I was hit directly, leading to me getting a wipeout and control of mid.
Yeah, it really sucks, Kraken is better. Reefslider really sucks also. (We need Splatana Wiper with Burst Bombs and Kraken, or Splatana Stamper with Splat Bombs and Kraken).
Like all specials, each has their own use. Sure you can try to use ultra stamp to splat out enemies, but that’s gone out of style. Nowadays I use Ultra stamp to guide the way for my teammate who has rainmaker, or pave a path for a teammate that has clams or a Power Clam. You can also cancel the stamper by just throwing it anywhere you need- at an enemy, a wall, or at your feet to gain extra ground turf. By canceling it after use, you can effectively use your sub weapon or main weapon as a potential surprise.
Objectively a bad take. Krakon, inkvac, crab, and reef slider can fill that niche just as well, (and often better,) than the ultra stamp. Stamp is designed to splat by taking advantage of displaced opponents or by sharking. Using it the way you said wouldn't work in even 2100 X Power.
@@krabsisdaddy447 I’m not a competitive player myself, nor do I know much about how one special might be better than the other. So what your saying is most likely true, I play casually and sometimes dabble in ranked for fun.
Both this and the Reefslider video hurts since they had nice idea but this one hurts more because like you said, this special was in S2 and worked just fine there so wtf happen in the transition between 2 to 3 ? Wiper and Mini could work so well with these so they can have something to get in but it just doesn't work even AFTER 1.2.0 and now that Kraken exist there is literally no point in using Reef or Stamp
Ultra Stamp sucks because it doesn't work. But if they fixed the glitches and maybe buffed the sides like some people want? It would still suck because it DID work. It would be like a fast Kraken with throw capability. I don't think it adds much to the game other than some chaos. most times, everyone gets out of the way, and the Ultra Stamp takes a shot to the back of the head. 2 in 10 times, they kill 3/4 of the team in a flash:D
With stamp i've had good luck tossing it the second I don't stamp someone I should have, i'm more of a threat with just the wiper anyway. I tend to use the stamp as more of a huge distraction, since that's a wipers primary role anyway, to pull the enemy team off the objective path.
In terms of enjoyability, this montage >>> the Reefslider montage. This montage had SO much more diversity in the footage, and it made me love it so much more. The first montage with Reefslider felt very one-beat and stale. While I felt your criticisms of the Reefslider were warranted in the first video (albeit I enjoy it very much as a casual player, and believe, when the game works in its favor, is actually a pretty neat and somewhat well-rounded special, just kind of situational), the Reefslider montage felt very... biased, somehow. But I can't blame you for being biased in any regard-- especially more so when the Reefslider has very core issues with the net code. But this felt less like a hot take, shock-factor complaining video than the first one. I don't know, just a thought.
I will say though, your other video on Reefslider made me want to use it and test your theories. Turns out it really does have a weird hitbox most of the time-- it's like... the game tells you the hitbox is A, but functionally, with all the glitches and such, it's B. "It's a huge hitbox. When it wants to work. Then it's pretty average." That discrepancy is probably the most annoying part, cause it's like they *want* the special to be powerful, but then it fails to execute it's ability properly. Poor Reefslider.
I'm new to Splatoon 3 by maybe a month. Thanks to Chase247, Tetra Dualies are my favorite, and my main. I sometimes can't play any other weapon. I've learned that Reefslider does suck and most of the time, I just explode right away because otherwise I'm just telling everyone 'I'm coming through but you got time to get out of the way and aim for me". If a few of my teammates are in close battle with the other team, I'll reefslide in between and provide a quick smoke screen effect plus I can get a few assists with that. Sometimes the crossfire helps me roll out of the way, mostly, seems to be a suicide run. For the stamper, thanks to the Tetra Dualies, it is pretty easy to roll to the side and hit the stamper. If the timing is right and I see a stamper coming right at me, I've learn to just roll toward it and go into torrent mode. Oh, and maybe I'm one of the few but I hate using the Kracken. Maybe it is just me and my newbie status but its hard to use on crowded stages. Its hard to defend against unless you can get to higher ground quickly. At least it doesn't let people know your coming.
Can you do a montage for Inkjet? I feel like it has potential to be a good special, but it's restricted to 2, maybe 3 weapons, and it moves and shoots incredibly slow, and has no armor, and the negatives outweigh the positives imo.
@@MintAndFriends not that I'm aware of, I'm mostly going off of word-of-mouth, since I didn't play Splatoon 2 all that much, but I believe it did have armor at the very least to compensate for its slow mobility.
@@KayFiOS I also didn't play Splatoon 2 too much, sadly-- and you may be right. Let me see what Inkipedia says. "While continuously firing, the inkjet receives a movement speed reduction based off the main weapon's strafing speed.[1] Even though Inkjet users are technically flying and not running, Run Speed Up does reduce the movement speed firing penalty, but it does not subsequently increase movement speed when not firing except when walking on grates." Okay, never mind, I must have been wearing a TON of run speed up (which checks out, it's one of my favorite abilities). 😂 I didn't see anything about armor though, which is weird...
Sad that ultra stamper its not working properly, in splatoon 2 ultra stamper have always have this weakness in front if you chase splatershoter, dualie or splating.
The devs just misplaced the hitbox. The problem is that we still can't find it... This montage in specific was so hard to watch, by the way. What the heck did they DO when they put this thing in this game?
Omg i love this absolute display of buffonery. Lmao. I feel so bad when the POV is on the player that is about to get stamped and then the stamper just whiffs.
Even if it does get fixed, now that kraken is in the game it’s just going to be an inferior special comparatively. Stamp was made to be a more balanced kraken even having the familiar start up noise, but now it’s just the budget kraken. Yes you can throw the stamp, but that’s not enough to put it over the edge. It only slightly protects from the front and is extremely vulnerable everywhere else, it doesn’t move very fast, and your mobility is limited. Kraken is completely invulnerable from all angles the entire duration, is able to to turn very quickly and charge up fast as well, and you have all of your basic movement options on top of that.
You should also do meme montages of all the specials, but they are just clips of people throwing a bad booyah bomb, or getting nothing done with their ink vac
Reefslider was more painful to watch because I hate how tetra dualies always get horrible specials. Can't wait to see what horror combination Nintendo is going to give us once they announce the light tetra dualies (sprinkler and ink storm, here we go!)
Stamp needs a buff to move at regular speed over grates and uninkable surfaces. I genuinely have no clue why they would make it move slower than WALKING
One issue I think is they design specials to counter other specials and completely ignore them actually being good. Buff mayhem modes damage, make throwing a bit easier* and make a proper hitbox. games aren't perfect, but its a step in the right direction *with aiming, I saw sometimes where the person threw it, it didn't land there. also, make trowing more obvious? I literally didn't know you could throw stamper for MONTHS after picking up the game
Reefslider is more painful because its bad in low and high rank. Meanwhile, Ultra Stamp does get some action in low ranks, I find it splatting a lot of my turf war teammates and even in A ranks and lower. Maybe its even buffed against me because of latency, I live far away from everyone. Maybe Reefslider is only good against really low rank and newcomers.
Stamp desperately needs fixes, plz Nintendo, make this special function. Also, if you jump while in rush mode with stamp, you’ll actually stop moving forward and just smack the same point on the ground, which has a couple of uses, most notable breaking the rainmaker shield without dying to the shield, like in the last clip.
At first I was afraid of the Ultra Stamp, but as I became better at the game I find it easier to manage, but I think it's not just skill, it's the malfunctions of the special. I wish the devs would actually fix it.
Why Ultra Stamp sucks right now. Loses to Chargers (penetrates through the hammer to hit your face), Splatlings (LOL projectiles), and Sloshers (globs penetrating through hammer to again, hit you.) because of glitches. Lag. Supposed guard is a total joke.
I think this montage was worse since there are so many more chances for the special to not work, and while reefslider is a bad special stamp just doesn't work. I guess I have been really lucky with Stamp then!
Huh I find this weird because i haven't faced that mutch of problems with the ultra stamp.(I'm also glad that I'm not the only one who jumps and swings before using the stamp)
It’s even more painful because some of the *potentially* best kits in the game (L-3 D, Mini Splatling, Splatana Wiper) aren’t as effective because they have Ultra Stamp. If this special was fixed, these weapons would see more use
i feel like the ultra stamp compilation is more painful because there are so many clips of where the stamp should of for sure killed and also since this is a special weapon that i believe is supposed to create openings and seeing it fail at that just hurts
Another quirk with kraken is it can run over bombs, stamp can do it, but reefslider still can’t. Makes the reefslider montage still more painful to me.
I enjoy inhaling COPIUM with Arashi and Thunder with this special killing L3D and failing to function consistently, I love it's design and function but god it does not work for shit
One of the things I noticed recently is that you move slower while using Ultra Stamp on uninkable surfaces and grates. Why is this even a thing? They should really just make you full speed on them.
i would say stamp is better than reefslider because it has more versatility and uses, on the other hand, reefslider is too much risk for barely any reward, plus its just a death sentence if you miss it.
