I think this might be the TOUGHEST 25km race in the whole of the UK! I really struggled to keep cool in the soaring heat (soaring for Wales!) and as my first 'hot' race of the season, it was a real struggle! But boyyyyy was it beautiful.

Another quality vid Flora. Completing a event with a cold is doable, it's the day after it wipes you out ! Those crowds & queue at the summit looked horrendous ! Well done

Haha yeah I was a broken woman for a couple of days! Thankfully I was much better on the day than 5 days previously where I couldn't even complete a 3km run... Lungs & sinuses weren't having it!

Wow, congrats on the tough race! I can't imagine doing that in such heat! That reminds me so much of my Mt Washington- the train, the views, and the cues. The hikers often have to cut cue to officially tag the summit, while the irritated train passengers grumble, but they don't understand (A) it's not just a photo op, the tough hike doesn't count if you don't summit, and (B) just how dangerous the mountain can be, and how far those hikers still have to go to get back down. Waiting in cue for 45 minutes, and getting cold and stiff, simply isn't an option. In the case of a race vs hiking, the racers would have the priority. But that's common sense, which is in short supply! 😅 It was great to see Claire, I love her channel too! And congrats to Tia and Fiann!

So so beautiful out there , being out in stunning places like that can boost you on even when you feel so flat, still you flicked that determination switch and kept going (it’s no fun in heat like that🥵) congratulations and thanks for another awesome vid🙏 Wow! I did say hi as I was climbing Snowdon for the second time on the 50k but my brain only allowed me to say 'Go Bristol' - looks like it was a good day all round for us Bristolians! Also great shout out to Gary - he showed where you might go wrong in the recce videos and it saved me extra miles, spoke to one or two who missed turns and added a few km to the day.

Well done. It was very hot wasn't it! You were an hour quicker than me I took a tumble just before Rhyd Ddu then really got stuck in the bogs which sapped my legs so the run in was very slow. All good learning for next year!

Well done, I did a race aswell and it was so hot this past weekend. Snowdon is always busy at the top as it’s popular unless you go very early, I went up at 4.30am, not too bad then and well done Tia. 😀

I did the 100k (not very quickly!) and arrived at Snowdon's summit around 9pm - it was empty except for runners... I was completely oblivious to how many people were up there when you arrived!

@@FloraBeverley it's a 70k ultra in Cornwall starting from the Lizard to Landsend - lots of hills and pretty fantastic views. Two different companies run the same course a few months apart. The Southwest Traverse/The Classic Quarter. Very much type 2 fun.

Great video, congratulations on a tough, hot race! When you say last race of the season, how do you work out the race seasons and when to race/rest etc? Interested to know

Most races (marathons and ultras esp) are in spring and autumn, so it actually works out pretty well to split the year into 2 and do a 'season' (few months) of races, then take some time off before building up to another 'season' in the autumn. I've found the year naturally sorts itself out, but usually I choose my big races, and then organise smaller races beforehand which act as training for those :) Then time off after the big races!

And the lack of common sense from most was astounding! Another beautiful run and huge well done. 😁 Is that is now tho, nothing else in your race calendar for 2023 or is a season not a full calendar year? Hahah yeah I did get a bit frustrated but in the end they didn't slow me down too much, I was just confused! I have more races in August and September which is super exciting. Just going to take some time off and get strong between now and then :) Lots of hiking to do!

Usually big races March - May, then again August - September/October! I sort of have 2 peaks and then summer is spent frolicking about and winter is spent getting strong :)

They're awesome! They're the Sungod Ultras. Yes fog free except very occasionally when it's cold and I'm hot and I put them on my head. But generally they're amazing, esp for summer.

What's end of the season mean ?

I split my year into 'seasons' - so race season is a couple of months of tune-up races and a big race (usually) followed by an 'off season' which involves rest, more gym work and then a build up to my next 'race season'. It means I'm not trying to stay in tip top condition year round, and I get some rest!

Your f-bomb regarding the number of people at the top was probably repeated by the day hikers and train passengers who encountered the runners. Shame some concessions could not have been made to reduce the total number of people on the mountain that day

Yes no doubt! That's why I said I feel sorry for anyone hiking that day. It was bad timing with the spectacular weather and it being a Saturday! My swearing was more at the general confusion of where I was going and not being able to see anything than any people specifically. It was a bit stressful 😅

ha well as I said, it was actually 27 there, and it's not just about the temperature, it's about what you're used to. If you came across here and complained about the 0 degree winters, I wouldn't tell you it wasn't that cold - it completely depends what you're used to training in! After a very cold winter, 20+ degrees is HOT to race in
