RM-20s get their name from their internal width... 20mm. For a very short amount of time Araya offered an RM24, but the trend, thanks to Keith f*cking Bontrager was to use exceptionally narrow rims to save weight, as he'd demonstrated using cut down 700c road rims. As a result Araya launched the RM17 which made cantilever brakes a nightmare to dial in and offered no support for the wider tyres some of us prefer to ride on. I guess the 1.95 and 1.75 tyre widths were the result of rims that couldn't properly support a 2.1.

I know when i got back to biking 6-7 Years ago there was no Skinwall/Tanwall Tire to be found NOWHERE. The only one were the Panaracers Dart/Smoke. I love to see the Skinwalls coming back.

I have the same tires. 1 they look rad. 2 they roll better then our typical mtb tire

Nice looking tires! I like the tight center tread pattern for low rolling resistance. If I had a set I'd experiment with reversing the tread direction the other way around on the rear. Anticipating more traction for climbing possibly. 🤔

Boutique tyres are so damn expensive but they seemed pretty cool I will consider them

Think I forgot to post my last message. Love the Videos Gary. I’m new to modding bikes, still learning and after watching one of your vids last year I recently restomoded a shogun Trailbreaker 1 to a similar setup to the TB 3 v2 you restored previously. Now I’m looking at tyres to use to go bike trekking around the rail trails in Victoria and cruising the burbs next summer with a rack on the back and a pannier . Do you think these tyres would be a good match? Thanks for any advice and keep up the great work.
