And when he says "thy end is now" which is a very important line with lore significance that means that your end is now due to my calculations confirming that he is going to punch you multiple times.
A friendly reminder: If your enemy is trapped behind bullet-hell like prison, and if your enemy literally FAST-WALKS towards you - this means you are complitely fucked.
god minos prime is too cool. I wish we didnt have to kill him. but on the other hand his fight is just so fucking good, and feels great when melee only
@@bullcheese2236 i think it's that V1 knows that Gabriel doesn't really care about humans as much as minos, so I guess he let's Gabriel just go after every fight, or it's that Gabriel can run anyways, minos just fights to the death.
@@g1xx98 That's what he said, though: as a machine, V1 wants the humans harvested for their blood, and while Gabriel would only defend Hell because it's part of God's creation, Minos would fight the machines to protect humanity from them. In other words, Minos had to die because he was a threat to the machines' harvest.
Minos sounds, looks, and feels like a man of fair judgement. Sounds; the way he talks to you with such a calm yet threatening voice even during battle makes him sound like a man who believes in intentions of actions rather than results. He truly is grateful you freed him but it was most likely for your own selfish intent Looks; He wasn't remembered for his face but rather his actions and figurative big heart, this the hole for a face and see through body. His attacks are blue and yellow, which fits his current calm yet rage fueled state. While not totally pissed off, he's still not happy with you either. Feels; he doesn't go all berserk on you, his actions do feel fueled by anger but it's more concentrated and held back, saving his rage for Gabriel and the heavens. Each move is precise and exact, hes thinking during this fight. and the music backs this up, with loud long notes and an overall sad tone despite the blood pumping fight, because he's lost everything. His people, his body, and, most of all, his mercy.
Kinda funny that King Minos would have technically had a heart the literal size of a pickup truck when he was “alive” and that his prime soul shows that he also had a heart that was the metaphorical size of a pickup truck.
little does he know the machine has genuinely no idea what it was doing and just freed him by complete accident i imagine the machine was just like "oh wow this giant blood bag i just killed dropped this weird orb- oh wow the orb turned into a dude with a hole in his face who's thanking me for freeing him- OH GOD HE DROPKICKED ME"
always said the reason why he always say something before attacking is because he still feel gratitude, he still is gonna juge you for your crime, but also let you have a chance, making sure to let you know what he is about to do every attack
Something I've noticed when I fought him is that when he's at low health, he wouldn't become red unlike the rest of the bosses, instead he would just remain the same. So it just adds up to his "calm yet still threatening" anger
Something else, his second phase basically only adds more stamina until he has to stop attacking. He doesn't get faster, he doesn't get stronger, he just tries harder.
AT 6:55 heartbreak while fighting him and putting the puzzle pieces together realizing he is practically the last desperate hope of the human race and a living memory. The subtext of the story of this game is wildly good
god i wish he was the last hope of the human race. i don't wanna keep them coming i don't wanna keep them coming i don't wanna keep them coming i don't wanna
I really hope he comes back in some way too interesting of a character to kill off this early. But maybe the magic would wear off if we see him too much.
"Ah..." "Free at last." "Oh, Gabriel." "Now dawns thy reckoning." "And thy gore shall GLISTEN before the temples of Man." "Creature of steel, my gratitude upon thee for my freedom." But the crimes thy kind have committed against humanity are not forgotten." "And thy punishment..." *"IS DEATH."* (Proceeds to dropkick you multiple times because it's funny)
One thing i noticed is that in king Minos’ small dialogue after you beat him he doesn’t show any hate towards but rather sadness at the fact that he could not rescue humanity from everything that was attempting to harm it like the angels or demons or the machines, in the end he is sad he could not be the best king for humanity
@@themacintoshnerd Sisyphus is dead tho. Like dead dead, i don't think we'll have his prime soul as P-2. It'll be some kind of heresy related mythological figure.
@@pffpffovich2398 minos could be considered just as dead dead as sisyfus if we went off of the info from the last layer alone. That's just some copium though
Everytime i hear the Lust motif it gives me goosebumps. Think about it: that was HIS domain. Your kind killed every last living creature, all of his subjects, within that layer. Really pushes forward the point that, from the very moment you released Minos from the prison within his own decaying body, you fucked up.
I *love* the Requiem leitmotif, especially as it's put at the peak. My favourite piece of music in Ultrakill was Requiem, until I found Order. I think Order has become my favourite piece of music, period. Even if not, it's certainly up there. Nothing gets me in the mood to go play Ultrakill and fight Minos Prime on Violent quite as quickly as listening to it. Still haven't P'd it, but I'm damn well close, I just need to improve on time. Definitely the most satisfying boss of any FPS game I played
I doubt V1 is singlehandedly purging Hell. Going off what Gabriel says in Heresy, Limbo and Lust have been completely wiped, with Gluttony soon to follow. But since he says it to you in Heresy, it wouldn't make sense for the cause to be V1. My best guess is since V1 doesn't have to slow down to refuel (since it fuels via contact with blood while all other machines have an entire process they have to do to refuel) and is going pretty damn fast, that V1 is just traversing Hell faster than most other Machines.
6:55 One of _the best_ leitmotifs in the OST. It really puts the entire badassery of the song itself into a choir of tragedy and desperation that Minos has. Listening to this again and understanding Minos' character, honestly made me tear up on how much he went through. Long live, his majesty, King Minos.
Minos Arm: lets your dashes be almost instant and go way farther, gives you increased melee attacks that move you forward, but you can't parry anymore.
I *_really_* didn't want to kill this guy. Like, I didn't want to Kill-Kill V2, but this guy is next level badass and I'm saddened that there was no other option. Minos Prime is Ultrakills's Sans fight. Change my mind.
@The Host Lucario Didn't we see Sisiphus's Corpse though? He never got the Minos treatment, he had what mattered most obliterated. His wealth of power.
I'd Honestly forsee something related to the fact the 6th layer is a sea of Blood, not in the literal sense like how the 5th was, in the metaphorical bleeding of all the mess of tubes and stuff. A deus Ex.Machina or something must be going on in that layer. The Aesthetics are too immaculate to suggest otherwise
@@tsonicboomplays9694 To be fair though we also saw Minos's corpse. It is possible that Sisyphus's soul resides trapped somewhere as well and has also become a prime soul.
You know what freaks me out? He stretches before fighting, he very gently indicates hes about to kick your ass with his movements, after all that time in a cell he just needs a few moments to stretch and thats all he needs to be ready to fight, a few moments of rest before the battle and he's straight to it after. With that knowledge I can comfortably say Minos would be able to sleep for 30 minutes and stay up for a week and only sleeping again because someone asked him to nap.
Me: Finally, I perfected all levels, and can now fight Minos Prime Minos Prime, who has fought men braver and more foolish than I, after my 37th restart: *W E A K*
The most probably boss fight in p-2 could be vigil (the one from dante's divine comedy not dmc), abadon the angel of destruction and Lilith the mother of all demon's
Reading the comments and listening to it I really get the sense that Minos takes no joy in what he has to do in killing V-1. It's not bombastic, or heavy. It feels almost ceremonial; Minos is just administering justice. Were it different, had machines not those committed atrocities, Minos likely would've protected V-1 as his own. Which is in excellent contrast to Gabriel, who sees himself above V-1. There's a vanity there that just isn't present with Minos. As someone else pointed out, Gabriel calls V-1 a machine, an object, an insignificant fuck, where Minos refers to V-1 as a creature of steel. This implies that V-1 is a living being, that just so happens to be made of metal and as a living being Minos holds that basal level of regard. Where it's completely absent from Gabriel, who takes joy in trying to kill V-1.
I like how the songs compliment each others boss fights, and the fights also explain why Minos Prime cant do anything about Flesh Prison. The themes name for Flesh Prison is named "Chaos" and has a bunch of random fast and unorganized notes. Flesh Prison mostly has inaccurate attacks, I.e. The blue bullet hell, the Orbital Strikes which can easily be dodges, the slow moving Black hole. Combined with the eyes and Maurice its all very Chaotic, like the song and its name itself. Minos Prime on the other hand, has hard hitting organized attacks, even being able to combo them to destroy you. His Theme is named "Order" and its not a bunch of notes thrown together. These ordered attacks, while probably being able to destroy Flesh Prison, have much less of a chance of beating Flesh Prison. Since its attacks are meant to overwhelm you and to constantly damage you. So Minos Prime got overwhelmed while fighting Flesh Prison with his low stamina (shown to you by his stamina system, and him taking pauses between attacks and combos) and was defeated by it. V1 however, isn't specialized in anything. V1 can adapt to its enemies. Its agility could easily dodge the constant attacks of Flesh Prison and its Strength could easily parry the strong attacks of Minos Prime, or even dodge his attacks with its dash. This is why I love Ultrakill, everything compliments each other and everything tells its own story.
iirc he was shoved in the flesh prison before he went Prime the whole Prime part happened from his internalised anger and determination to salvage or at the very least avenge his people, all that amplified by having to watch everything he worked so hard for be destroyed by his very own corpse for centuries, if not millenia (presumably) Prime souls are said to be powerful enough to threaten the heavens themselves just by existing, so from this we can say the angels sealed minos' soul in the flesh prison after constructing it with a bunch of randomly slapped together shit in order to make it as impervious as could be; they clearly knew minos fit the bill to go Prime
*PRIME /// FIRST* *SOUL SURVIVOR* "Ah, free at last." "O Gabriel... now dawns thy reckoning." "Thy gore shall GLISTEN before the temples of man." "Creature, of steel... my gratitude upon thee for my freedom." "But the crimes thy kind have committed against humanity, are NOT forgotten..." "And thy punishment... Is DEATH!" -Minos prime then proceeds to snap V1's neck 26 times without mercy
You know what makes me a bit sad for Minos? Even if he was able to beat V1 for good, and enacted his vengeance against Gabriel, there wouldn’t be anything left of his people anyway. The complete destruction of his city followed by V1’s entrance and Gabriel’s later words means his people were most likely completely wiped out. He would be doomed to sit among the rubble of his old kingdom and gaze upon the destruction his own corpse and V1 caused.
Minos as a boss fight is so well done, very few fights can elicit the same chills from an opening monologue right into the boss theme blasting in but every time I hear "And thy punishment....Is DEATH." the fight or flight immediately kicks in and I find myself dashing like a maniac and blasting Minos with the whole damn arsenal in seconds. He has a certain reverence about him that none of the other bosses have aside from maybe Sisyphus but he doesn't invoke that same feeling. Minos lives up to his former title and you feel like you're standing before the true Judge of Hell instead of an Archangel with a superiority complex. Minos commands your full attention the second he delivers his judgment, and offers a swift punishment should you not. It helps knowing his lore too, knowing this is one angry, vengeful man who just tried to do some good in a cruel world and was unjustly executed for it, believing that eternal damnation wasn't deserved for simply catering to a basic human instinct and being struck down by God's right hand man for it. He's ready to rend Heaven apart with his bare hands and right now he's directing all that fury towards you. Every attack measured and swift, but a distinct vitriol behind them all. I just REALLY like this character and his fight.
@@leonidass3448 Use saw blades and throw coins through him at start of match and rail canon. If you really want to get him below half health immediately, saw blades and throw coins up in air and use alternate pistol with laser. A lot of damage.
Just dropping this here I listened to this as music for my running and I beat my old pr for 5 kilometers by 40 seconds when I did. Great song 10/10 will throw up after over exerting myself to this again
Maybe spending the entire city budget on bisexual lighting and percs was a good idea after all, because we DID end up getting this masterpiece out of it
Even with all the suffering that the angels did to his people, King Minos still wanted to talk to Gabriel and solve everything peacefully. But, when it came to a machine, King Minos instantly gets in his killer mode. It puts us to wonder. What the *FUCK* did the machines do to humanity?
The machines were responsible for the death of humanity. At first they were used for wars and they killed all the soldiers, however their lust for blood remained unsatiated. Then they killed the leaders and public servants but even this was not enough. They soon realized that they could farm blood and they made horrific contraptions that would supply them with infinite blood. Men, women, and children all farmed like catttle for their blood. Eventurally they grew impatient and killed them but in a horifying way so they could extract every drop of blood. They entered hell in an attempt to feed their appitite but they will never be satisfied. They are not creatures of flesh but of steel and feel only hunger.
@@kingminosprime bow it is understandable why all husks want to kill us. They want their revenge on what machines have done to them It is harded to understand why they fight alongside other machines though
Minos is a character that you can’t help but feel sorry for, he was the king of humanity who put the needs of his people above himself (hence the crown of the city of lust) but he was still struck down by Gabriel and imprisoned in a geometric container of flesh. The Requiem motif is what lets you know that while you may be the protagonist you aren’t a good person, your actions and the actions of those like you brought the end of humanity and incurred the wrath of King Minos and he is willing to make that clear to you. He fights like a fighting game character because he has the rage and motivation to be one and he doesn’t need any weapons to prove his strength.
Here's what's gonna happen, after Gabriel's flame of god is extintcted or he's killed by V1, his soul will manifest without his body just like Minos, he will become a Prime Soul and will be the final P Level most likely
I love how minos getting a great feedback to any games Even aut added him as a boss you can even play him but you need to kill him like on the game hes tough Minos prime at his finest
When Minos health bar is at half you’ll actually hear one word he says during the encounter and that’s “Weak.” 8:39 Is when Minos wants hell/Heaven to treat humanity respectfully and not as slaves
Ah... Free.. At last. Oh, Gabriel.. Now dawns thy reckoning, and thy gore shall GLISTEN! Before the temples of man.. Creature of steel, my gratitude apon thee for my freedom... but the crimes, thy kind have committed against humanity, are NOT forgotten. And thy punishment... Is DEATH!
Something of note Minos battle started because he saw you as guilty in a crime against humanity. Husks and demons are not people and purpose of killing was granted by humanity, not killing would be a crime and probably not possible. If it’s a crime, V1 did it against his purpose, the war between hellspawns (hunger), humanity(survival) and robots (blood as only remaining source of energy). Maybe not all robots but traitors, V1 could have been the one. Minos might saw us as a traitor rather than a murderer, he sees V1’s sentience and judges as a living thing. And if he knew V1 made a crime, knows what exactly was that sin and if the killing should be spared (V1 is programmed to kill and it would be an unfair to judge when he was made for this) betrayal is most certain one And if other robots went to hell for remaining blood, why V1 can ignore it but push further in hell instead of scavenging? He has a goal we might not see. Vengeance for humanity? Repentance for the sin? Something hidden in the deepest hell? Or possession by something higher? This all can’t be just for no reason, the robot like this always gives itself an objective. This hidden objective that even Minos couldn’t see is definitely connected both to mankind’s extinction/V1 past and ninth circle of hell
@@paoduro9194 shotgun parry and the v1's identity are 2 entirely different shenanigans of the game. The shptgun parry was a glitch that was ultilized as part of the gameplay, and since it's not too OP, it's a fun thing to do without completely destroy the gameplay experience. V1's identity, however, is part of the game's lore as a whole, and since the game isn't even finished, knowing what V1 actually is by the time being interviewed would risk spoiling the entire game. TL;DR, one's a bug turned into a neat mechanic, other's part of the whole game's lore that's not even finished to date. One can be fixed, the other should be kept secret until the game is completed.
The begining part of this is so terrifying, especially in the game with the seemingllee endless pit of nothingness, they really did a greatbuild up for minos

I wanted my first victory over him to be my last P. All levels were already cleared. He was the last obstacle. I spent months trying to wear him down, to finally beat him. I could not, for the life of me, do it. Then we got Act 5. And the Apostate of Hate. VERY epic. Somehow, I had managed to improve massively. I began P-ranking Act 5, remembering Minos was still uncleared, still there, scoreless. After a couple of hours I managed to beat Gabriel once more, and I felt... amazing. But Minos was still impossible, this blocker that I could not remove. I spent all night... and the next evening, and finally beat him. I. Love. Ultrakill. Nothing will ever feel as good as finally seeing triple S, watching Minos.. I feel bad for Minos, I'd befriend him the same way you can the Ferryman. But even if he ceased existing, he will forever more be in my thoughts. As will V2. God bless this game, its community and the developer(and helpers!).
I still think minos was holding back a little considering he walks towards you instead of sprinting, and he could probably attack even faster and with more unpradictable moves if he wanted too
Damn P Ranking every level was a flat out warning in of itself I haven't fought this guy yet, but I'm debating on getting a therapist to help me for when this man become the living embodiment of a gigachad

I still think p-1 is harder than p-2 because i hated having to reset every time and going down the spine vine with the music turning into a roar. I felt like SomthingWicked's older brother was chasing me.
The first time I got to P-1, I didn't notice the torch and spent 10 minutes slowly inching my way down the staircase, using the rocket launcher to see. Then when I finally got to the door, I didn't have the torch so I couldn't progress, but I thought that there was something hidden in the room. Eventually I looked up gameplay and got the torch.
Man. I wish i was in that courtroom when druid knight had been a lawyer. Anyways another thing is that ever since i played P-1, whenever someone ends their phrase with "Death" either vocally or in writing, i will remember him and smile.
I wanted to fight this guy at his best on my first try Second play session 85 minutes 256 tries total on both bosses I did not cared I had a headache I wanted to beat this guy so bad that night , made me listen this banger of a song over and over again and I do not regret a single second of it great boss fight, I can't wait for the p-2 boss fight
