Going ultralight offshore is challenging but fun sport, a golden trevally grabbed my jig at the bottom and started circling.
Although the line (0.8pe) is quite capable of holding back decent size fish , tightening your drag all the way up right at start is not always the wise choice. Nonetheless, depending on the fish it might be rather challenging to divert the fish and control in a spot with many other anglers on the boat, hence we usually prefer medium to medium light rods with thicker line to overpower the fish.
Still it was quite fun to test my ultralight finesse setup, such delicate to play at the bottom and feel every bite and strike.
