Cirrhosis is a late stage of scarring (fibrosis) of the liver caused by many forms of liver diseases and conditions, such as hepatitis and chronic alcoholism. As cirrhosis progresses, more and more scar tissue forms, making it difficult for the liver to function (decompensated cirrhosis).
Symptoms of Cirrhosis of the Liver
Yellowing of the skin (jaundice) due to the accumulation of bilirubin in the blood.
Fatigue.
Weakness.
Loss of appetite.
Itching.
Easy bruising from decreased production of blood clotting factors by the diseased liver.
Cirrhosis is a complication of liver disease that involves loss of liver cells and irreversible scarring of the liver. Cirrhosis can cause weakness, loss of appetite, easy bruising, yellowing of the skin (jaundice), itching, and fatigue.
