I remember watching this as it was broadcast as boy of 14..went out and purchased Hymn the very next day, then the album....memorable times for music....a long forgotten period of music/fashion.....post punk....New Romanti/Futurists...Ultravox were always the latter...harder edged sound
This is excellent! 1982, I see. We missed out on a lot of Ultravox, here in the States, and this is my first time seeing this. I did have the debut LP, which is great..
Although the sound mix is mono, this is a far better account of the band's live appearance from the time compared with the 'Monument' video. There are no clips of the videos interrupting the live stage coverage, thankfully. The OGWT stage must have been too small to allow Chris to have his own synths - he shares Billy's setup stage left.
@@markscott554 I saw Midge's solo tour in the 90s when he played his own and Ultravox songs on acoustic guitar. Disappointingly weak and anaemic would be the most positive review I offered at the time.
be good to see the BBC release this on DVD, looks like it was filmed in the BBC Theatre at Shepherds Bush (I think now called the Shepherds bush empire).
Their music is just too basic for my taste. If they could write music half as good as Mark Hollis and Tim Freise- Green, maybe I could understand the hype.
