The Ultrawave Multiband Processor and Ultrawave Multiband Bass Processor embark on a pioneering journey into the advanced potential of overdrive and tremolo, exploring a brave new universe of sounds yet unheard. At the Ultrawave’s core is a dynamic and multi-dimensional approach known as multiband processing. This process splits the frequency spectrum of a guitar, bass, or synthesizer into multiple, discrete frequency bands and equips each band with its own array of adjustable parameters. In the case of overdrive, the Ultrawave splits the incoming signal and provides separate drive and output level controls for each individual band. The result is a thick and rich distortion with loads of unique overtones and dynamic interplay. Split the signal into 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, or 10 frequency bands, and apply any of the band splitting options to an exciting collection of overdrive types, including Tube, Diode, Foldback (a method of distortion often heard in the world of synthesizers), Octave Up, Negative Flip Diode, and more.

Source Audio still one of a few pedal makers actually using dsp to it's fullest extent instead of giving us another modeler of classic effects

Got my Soundblox Pro Multiwave Distortion new many years ago; it's been on my board ever since. UltraWave may soon replace it. FWIW - Still have and use my Soundblox 2 Stingray and Soundblox Pro Bass Envelope Filter, all purchased new years ago, still using them.

why different pedals for bass and guitar? The editor kan edit it all right?
@sourceaudioeffects
@sourceaudioeffects 3 года назад
You are correct, the bass and guitar versions are essentially the same pedal with a slightly different paint job. The bass version comes loaded with presets designed for bass, but yes they do work with the same Neuro Editor and it is possible to load presets from the guitar version of the Ultrawave into the bass version and vice-versa.

hello source audio. Can my C4 pedal do all these sounds, or are there sounds these pedals can do that the C4 can NOT do?
@gweeboyoda
@gweeboyoda 9 месяцев назад
I might be able to answer this in more detail in the not-too-distant future, but based on the Neuro App options, they are pretty different. The Ultrawave's multiband distortion and trem options are advanced even among distortion and trem units, and there's two engines in the UW, whereas only 1 (distortion block, no bands) in the C4. There's also "morphing" (I dunno what that is yet), and some kind of "ring mod" option (the C4 offers a touch of FM synthesis which is like half a ring mod, but also in a very limited way). UW also includes a compressor. There's crossover in drive engines with the C4 and the Kingmaker fam, but even among these I think the UW has a couple the others don't, though I also think it only has most of the Kingmaker's. I have a C4 and an After Shock, and still wanted an UW, not just because I have a hard-on for multiband distortion (which is almost impossible to find elsewhere), but because it will always be able to serve some kind of function. All the One Series pedals can be used to split or sum signals, and this one can be a compressor on top of that (which is practically a must to have after filter or high feedback/resonance effects).
@ShoesMagoo
@ShoesMagoo 3 года назад
Seems like a cross between the C4 and Aftershock, maybe with traits from some of the other One series with which I am unfamiliar added in? I'd appreciate your thoughts on where these pedals begin and end in relation to the others as they seem to share a lot of similar functionalities. Any designs on a multi-FX station that can do everything that the One series pedals do? Getting lost in the complexity and possibilities of just what one of these machines can do seems...inevitable. I'm getting paralyzed by the analysis of merely sifting through the reviews. Purchasing one would likely lead to buyer's remorse as the capabilities of the others are just out of reach, not that any of them wouldn't be countless hours of fun to make music with as they're all so empowering and cool.

id love to see a modern X-over distortion/comp tone w/ Nates ng3 - seriously considering changing up the whole rig around this, also is it possible to programe the footswitch to do specific tasks ? i.e. leave the comp on all the time and have the footswitch toggle the distortion on/off
@sourceaudioeffects
@sourceaudioeffects 3 года назад
So if I'm understanding you correctly, yes, you can do a cross-over distortion. The Ultrawave has two channels and you can turn off frequency bands. So for example, you would be able to shut down all of the higher frequencies on one of the channels and send that to Output 1, then shut down all the lower frequencies on the other channel and send that to Output 2. Obviously both of those outputs can go to separate amps that are especially accommodating to specific high or low frequencies. Is that what you want to do?

That pedal seems awesome. I was in fact looking for the multiwave distortion 2nd hand before you released this one. So I have 2 questions: does it do the multiwave distortion like the old one (I read so) and can you stack it with other modulation effects or other pedals with good results?
@sourceaudioeffects
@sourceaudioeffects 3 года назад
Yes, all the sounds in the original Multiwave can be reached with the Ultrawave and Ultrawave Bass pedals. Basically those pedals were our starting point for the Ultrawave. After those sounds we added the multi-band tremolo and the LFO shaping and the adjustable compressor.

@@sourceaudioeffects Thanks a lot for the kind feedback. Could you tell me if you can stack it with other pedals with good results. Although the crazyness of the sound are apealing I also think this has a lot of potential used in subtles way with other pedals? I was also wondering if you think that available distortions on the pedal are also usable as standard distortions being on par with for exmaple LA Lady quality drives? Thanks.

Is there any difference in the circuitry of the bass/guitar versions or is it about the presets and paint?

This looks and sounds amazing! I play bass and guitar through my pedal board so if i got the bass version, would it be able to do all the guitar version stuff as well??
@andrewneehall5664
@andrewneehall5664 3 года назад
Yes, either pedal works with both bass and guitar, they just come with different factory presets, and the bass version has a mix knob instead of a sustain knob. But the knobs can be re-assigned using the neuro editor. You can load the guitar presets and bass presets on either. Pick the colour you like best, and whether you would prefer a dedicated sustain knob or a dedicated mix knob more.

You should concider training an AI to create presets. Kinda like modern amp profiling systems. I bet this could model almost any amp/drive pedal. And you'd get the advantage of going into the model and tweak it, kinda only using it as a startingpoint.

Can a tap tempo switch be used for cycling through the three modes, or turning a specific setting on/off within a preset?
@sourceaudioeffects
@sourceaudioeffects 3 года назад
No, the tap switch can't be used to scroll through presets. It only does tap tempo for the tremolo. You can either use the Ultrawave with the Neuro Hub and a MIDI controller to move through presets. You can also use a DAW connected to the Ultrawave's USB port or a MIDI controller with USB host capabilities ( The DMC.micro from Disaster Area Designs is an example of a MIDI controller with USB host).
@abouc
@abouc 3 года назад
That sounds a bit more complicated of a setup than I'm after as a non-gigging musician. For now bending over to flick the preset switch will suffice.
@sourceaudioeffects
@sourceaudioeffects 3 года назад
@@abouc Ha. That works too. Remember you can save up to 128 presets in the pedal itself and access them the Neuro Desktop Editor or Neuro Mobile App. :-)

Sorry, but every damn evening with my band should start with a bass solo. 1) bass solo, into 2) first song of set, into 3) all the other songs. THAT, my friends, is how you put on a Rock Concert. Bass solo first, songs, guitar and drum solo to taste, end on “1” That’s it. This pedal is a bass solo all unto itself.

It also uses multi-band processing, which splits your guitar, bass, or synth signal into either 2, 3, 4, 8, or 10 individual frequency bands and allows you to control the drive level and output level of each of those bands individually. This video is more of a sound sampler - our tutorial video goes into far more detail on what this pedal can do. I just want to hear the pedals ability to do natural overdrive and distortion with compression, but every single bloody video I watch has synthy sounds I would never use live, I am just thinking of getting something else. I'm not going to buy it without hearing it do what I want, all I here is wanky sounds.
