Hi where can find a person who can take us out on a boat to go fishing? Is there anyone you can recommend to us? We don’t really like the big charters out there.
Most of all my boat trips have been friends who have just taken me as a hookup. One of these friends happens to captain a charter vessel out of Kailua-Kona: Captain Shawn of the Night Runner. I have loved every trip I have been lucky enough to go on. He is a damn good angler and specializes in light gear, which is my jam, as trolling gets old for me pretty quick. If trolling is your game, he crushes that too, but when you are on a fat mahi or Kahala on light gear, it quickly becomes addictive. I am not sure what island you are looking to fish on, or your budget, but if you look up his ship and shoot him an email and said I sent you, your money should be damn well spent. Option 2, spend time talking story at the boat ramp and make some friends. There are a lot of people out there who would be happy to take a solid person with them to split gas cost.
Oh cool. Thank you so much. We’re coming to Kona in about a week. I’m from Hawaii and coming in to see some of our family. But no one in the family has a boat. So been fishing only from shore never on a boat. I’ll contact your friend and see if he can take us fishing. Love your videos! Thank you 😊
@@ShakaFishing I prefer yozuri and rapala xraps…they can take Ono and ahi strikes and keep going…where as nomads I have yet to see them take a strike and still run properly
Copy! I am not very knowledgeable about the boat game, thanks for the tip. I think it was a trip around this time a nomad got hit by an ono and yea, it looked like someone took a buzzsaw to it real quick.
