Thank you for putting up this video, this will transform all my tons of work into a simple App that does all I need to do, and know, about the amount of copy I have to deal with. Love your work!
Thanks for this. I hadn't realized you can just drag a file onto the library. I respectfully suggest you introduce Markdown by pointing out how *difficult* it is to look at HTML source code and read anything--well, with Markdown, now you can see both the code and your writing at the same time!
Thank you for this great video. Nicely done and super helpful! Still not sure if I love or loathe Ulysses just yet. It's almost too simple for its own good yet not simple at the same time.
thanks for this tutorial. solidifies my decision to switch from scrivner. edit: you are SO right that it's like evernote's and scrivener's baby! it's exactly what i need! i loved scrivener but after a while, all the formatting got distracting. and evernote was too limited. i mean, you can't even change the font! (using ipad). then there's bear. i loved its simple design but that damn markup language was too in your face. i hated it! i love how ulysses grays out the markup symbols so they're not distracting. so excited to write now!
Excellent tutorial! I was debating between this app and a few others but your tutorial made it clear on which one was the best. Would you say that Ulysses is still your favorite app for writing in iPad in 2924?
Great tutorial! I have a question regarding the "markup" button located in the top right of your video. I only have options for export, find, revision, and dashboard. I do not see a shortcut button for "markup" as you have in your video. Is there a way to activate/show this button? Even my markup tab is all grayed-out unless I choose the very last option of, "markup panel", which will bring up a menu similar to the one you were able to access with the shortcut button in the top right. Is there an option to display this button statically like I currently have for export, find, revision, and dashboard?
Ulysses changed this recently. I’m not a huge fan of it. But you can access the markup tab by clicking it on the menu on the top of the screen now. The button was removed.
Hello Michael! I've watched many videos from you. I just started writing my thesis (medicine) and I'm planning to insert some images, graphs, and tables as well as index and references. Should or can I do everything from Ulysses or should I use another app to help me with these? Thanks a lot for your help.
Hello, I’ve decided to dedicate myself to learning how to use Ulysses. I wish the company had more video tutorials. It would be awesome if you’d ever consider doing a few more. For example, a tutorial dedicated to exporting work and the various options. Also, some coverage about the proper way to attach photos or pdf files to the content of a project. And, speaking of external content such as photos, pdf news clippings, links to Google books, etc., do you like to keep these things attached to source material sheets in Ulysses? Or attached in the comments/notes section of a document? If this is something you do, please let’s us know? What a stupendous feature it would be to have these things at our finger tips in a Ulysses writing project. Thanks and sorry for all the questions.
Hi, Michael, I'm going to pick on you a little bit and point out that you start a lot of sentences with "So." You're not the only one. I'm a transcriptionist, and I've noticed this verbal tic has crept into a lot of presenters' narratives over the past few years. I do appreciate you making this video. (I'm undecided between Jutoh and Ulysses for epub formatting. Scrivener+Sigil is too tedious, and Vellum's options are limited.)
Michael, on another tact...how do I import ANY screenwriting template into Ulysses? I have tried and tried and tried...using their own styles.@Author Level Up
Please help. I can’t seem to get it to separate out the chapters and I’ve tried grouping and arranging every way I could think of. About to give up on this program for writing books
How do I delete uploads? I know you can drag a file outside of app, but it doesn't delete it within the app? I WANT to like this app, but finding it a bit user-hostile at present.
The only way to do it at this point is to address this via your CSS settings unfortunately. Ulysses isn’t very good with alignment or paragraph customization.
@@AuthorLevelUp ok, I will work on getting into that. sent you another question via your website and also somewhere on these comments about imparting one of Ulysses' styles/templates for screenwriting. thx for your reply
@@AuthorLevelUp and to this point...I will just keep novels on Ulysses and other stuff on Scrivener. Thx for helping me not spin my wheels unnecessarily.
Author Level Up I just copied and pasted. I lost some of the page breaks but it was easy to “select all” and move it that way. Thanks for the reply and the video. I am very visual when it comes to learning new software!
