Just got my gun today. Bought it from MCS and they also had the 11 joule valve upgrade. It came with no instructions so I went on RU-vid and found your video. Thank you for being so detailed. You almost have me believing I can do it. Thanks again.
You can also remove a limiter piece, thats inside the 11 joule valve version. This, cranks up the power even more. With a couple of upgrades, you get around 20 joules :)
I heard that it just farts out CO2 after a few shots like that. There is a custom made replacement part that is made in Germany or Austria by a couple of Machinists, that prevents that from happening and is far beyond 11 joules and will not fart out CO2 from removing the limiter. There's a guy here on RU-vid called Rune Rebel, who has upgraded and tore apart every part of Umarex airguns and he pulled out the limiter and after a few good powerful shots it started farting out the CO2 till it was empty. With a "proper" replacement part for it, that does not happen and is very reliable and very powerful. Upwards of 16 joules for sure and as high as 20. The part is only available from Europe and the part is about $40 plus the same amount in shipping, so it's not really cheap, but it certainly works and works reliably. Fires slugs so hard they rip through soup cans like nothing. It is called the Powerkit .50 for the Umarex HDR .50.
@@MrBilld75 The limiter piece functions as flow regulator. Actually you don't even need limiter if you use hpa. Check out Rune Rebel's video on using hpa without the limiter. He was getting near 40 Joules with 800 psi hpa. Other videos on youtube show another guy getting 95 Joules with his HDR50/TR50 with 18" extended barrel and 1100 psi hpa.
@@springer-qb4dv It was actually Rune Rebel I watched when I made that statement about it farting out CO2 without the limiter/flow regulator. I did not know he did an HPA video on this same gun, that's cool. I like his channel, he's such a super nice guy.
Thank you so very much for disassembled the gun with no forwarding, I got me an 11 joule on Amazon (affiliate store) and that was a fiasco, the magazine is not cycling, after three shots the weight of the balls doesn't allow the magazine to cycling, I put a complaint vendor never contact me, I have been looking several videos trying to see how the gun is disassembled step by step, because now I on my own playing gunsmith, I think I thank you to the shady Amazon affiliate because they force to learn and open the gun, so thanks to you I feel more confident to open the hdr50
Glad you found the video helpful 👍 If you still need to return it just call amazon customer service. If I have a seller that is either ignoring me or being unreasonable , I send the seller a few messages asking them to resolve the issue. When they do not, I call Amazon. They can look at the messages you have sent and also the sellers messages. Amazon will usually make the seller refund or send a replacement.
I took my TR50 apart remove the valve block added in a pin valve above the CO2, added a tuning barrel and replaced the firing pin. Greatly increased the power to over 25 joules. My kinetic rounds are shooting through and through on steel cans. I am quite satisfied.
Dude, I have saved your video for over a year waiting for the free time to do the upfit to 11 joules. It went without a hitch thanks to you! I very much appreciate it!
I sat here and followed you thru every step and I’m done now 11 joules of power and my special slugs 😉 sounds like a real gun now lol it’s loud! Thanks for the slow video not getting in a hurry it helped 👍
No problem man! I know some of my video's are kinda long but they are the kind of video's I wish more people would make. Step by step. Don't assume I know anything about it. If I did I wouldn't be watching! 😆 Man you are not kidding about the sound! WAY louder and way more recoil. Way more power! I know if somebody pulled that out & started crackin I would not hang around! Hey thanks for watchin brotha!
Big J's Outdoors & Airguns I’m glad you spent time on that spring for the trigger I had it upside down I think idk but that’s where I have problems but I just shot a ball bearing thru a door so I must have it right now lol 😂
I think a good idea trace an outline of the gun on paper then put circles where the screws are then simply stick the screws into the circles or tape them into the spot and then when you go to put the screws back you know exactly where they go.
Got to be the best instructional step by step guide you can get for taking the hdr50 apart great video hope you decide to modify even more with step guide to do it yourself
Shout out to you bro I bought the items from rockstar Tactical definitely a power boost really packs a punch and is much louder this will definitely hurt someone bad
I had no idea about the 11 joules mod until this video and it helped me out a lot! Thanks for the hot tips and now I'm blasting the new Valve system with no issues! Great video thank you.
WOW! Thank you for this info. I'll be attempting this installation when my valve comes sometime this month... I know I couldn't do it without this video. thank you.
HEY Big J, what an excellent video! I purchased the 7 Joule verson last month, and then the RockStar hop-up last week. It arrived via UPS today. I am ready to make the mod tonight. Excited. Will let you know result soon. You have given us a fine video for the mod. I really appreciate your exactness and attention to detail. If you are not an engineer, you should be. Thank You
Hey Gary! 👋 Thanks for the kind words and for watching the video. I do appreciate it. Glad you have found the video useful! Let me know how it goes and watch those little springs! They are sneaky!
Thank you so much for this video. It was really descriptive and made this alot easier for me. Mine came apart very easy, but I did struggle with the tiny spring for about 40 minutes. I am very impressed with the amount of increased power and I believe there is even a little more to get out of it. Awesome video. Thanks again!
Glad you found the video useful 👍That little spring is a pain in the butt! Lol I have had people comment that there is a way to get 20 Joules out of it. I have never checked into though. I appreciate a nice comment so thanks to you!
Just got an eleven Joule valve and am waiting to buy a RIFLED barrel with add on extension! Should be way more powerful a and accurate. Will keep this video on file, for sure.
One of the best videos out there however I think the spring on the trigger at 11:40 is backwards the long end fits in the long grove molded in the trigger with the short end sticking out and retained on a boss in the case.Likely not a noticeable or functionality issue but...I have a few more markers to upgrade and will double check.
Thanks for the compliment Matt. The spring doesn't seem to have effected mine but I rarely shoot it. It is next to my bed for home defense. Now I have had people have an issue with the gun burping rapidly and the theory that the spring being backwards may be the issue has been thrown out here in the comments. I couldn't say for sure. I am glad you found the video useful 👍
Umarex is German, and the house sells 20 Joule valves separately, mine is 20 joules, and it is already a power to hit his knees and make him fall in pain, his face is not because you kill him, although in the US you can kill for legitimate defense, greetings !!
I found it to be easer when putting the valve in to do it the opposite by just setting the valve in and pushing from the front that big hole at the top is where the long screw go when you put the outer frame on it holds it together
This video was awesome, except I have an issue. I ordered the valve from RST and followed this video step-by-step. Everything went well (thank you thank you thank you for the amazingly straight forward turorial). The problem is now that I have it back together, as soon as I pop the co2, the gun misfires one time. Even if my finger is nowhere near the trigger, it fires. This is scary and unsafe as hell. I emailed RST to find out what to do. It's a real bummer because now I have to take this back apart and reinstall the weaker valve. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there something I should have done to prep the gun and forgot?
THX, 4 the Trigger PART :D …. and then i found your Video ! ! ! HDR-50 “11J” to + 16 J ATM Exportventil | Full Power Powerkit | Only for the 11J Version | T4E HDR50 & NXG PS-100 | over 16 Joule
Great vid. love the close ups and details, that's what I needed. Took it apart to clean it and lube it up better than factory and of course that dumb spring you warned about, on that thing above the trigger, had to pop out. Lol.
Haha! Yep! Thanks for the compliment. I have had many people ask where to buy that spring because it gets lost. Unfortunately Umarex doesn't sell it. Thanks for checking out the video man! I do appreciate it.
@@MrBilld75 No they do not but I did end up meeting a guy through my video that actually wore his spring out and it broke. He found a replacement through I believe McMaster Carr. Not an exact replacement but one that will work. Here is a link if you ever need to find out. Hopefully you won't! Lol ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Tkq-hqdzDlI.html
@@bigjsoutdoorsairguns9007 Ahhh, that's the trigger spring. I was talking about that little one that operates the sear I guess you would call it on this airgun?! Above the trigger, it rocks on the valve/valve body and moves it to pull the valve stop open against the big spring and fire. It's a small spring, although not as small as some in this thing, lol. I got lucky, two small springs popped out and flew, found the first one and it never came back out (cause I covered it when moving the piece, haha, once bitten twice shy) and the other one on the sear, I had to reinstall 6-7 times and fiddle with it, lol. Finally figuring out that the spring would not pop out if the sear wasn't allowed to move as much backwards. Solution=put the valve in first, give the sear something to rest on so it doesn't flip back. I got lucky, one of those times I thought the spring was a gonner, looked for it for 1/2 hour, thereabouts. Now that I got the technique, it's easy and I don't plan on doing it again., but still fiddly.
It looks like you have the trigger spring backwards, at 3:15 where you show the long part of the spring going against the metal, in 2 of my guns I just pulled apart, the shorter part of the spring rests against the metal. I had originally done it the way you showed on my first one, and it didn't shoot right ,it made a rapid fire sound when shooting, I don't know if that was the cause of it, but these 2 guns I just opened up have the spring the opposite way right out of the box. Otherwise very helpfull video, made my valve upgrades go much smoother I'm sure, I would just correct that 1 thing so others don't run into a problem. One other tip to make things go much easier is at 17:00 mins, when putting the new valve back into the metal gun frame , push the round black plastic piece on and compress the spring and hold it in that position and put it in place , it will just drop right into place very easily, the way it is shown like you said is kind of difficult.
Hey thanks for that and I think you are right about the spring. I wasn't sure which way to put it back and mine has done that same rapid fire thing also. Only a couple of times but I don't shoot it very often either. I will try to edit in the corrections soon. Thanks again.
@@bigjsoutdoorsairguns9007 You are welcome , I had actually wrote the above comment before I had finished the valve change over, I later realized when you put the spring the correct way it will actually fit right into the back of the trigger and lock in place, so when reinstalling the trigger it just drops right into place easily. Another little foot note is that I chronied mine with the new valve and it Made 12.3 Joules (9.1 fpe) with the 28 grain rubber balls, and 15.5 Joules with the 42 grain rubber balls with the metal dust in them, I'm guessing the 11 Joule rating was made with paint balls, which are only 19.2 grain. Thanks again for the video.
Sorry about that. I just went to the website to get the link and they are currently out of stock. You might contact them and see if they are going to get some more.
Thanks for your video! I'm considering doing this mod if I get the 7 joule version. The place I'm buying from said they should have the 11j version sometime in May.
Great Video, with Excellent details. How Much Louder did your 4TE become once converted to HDR? mine is Louder. Of course my shot count reduced in half or less, which is Fine. I am looking for a softer replacement Barrel spring, as that barrel spring pressure is what the trigger pull pressure has to overcome. a Lighter spring there could mean a lighter trigger pull, either that or lube barrel side of cylinders where the barrel touches the cylinders. reducing trigger pull pressure to make my revolver more accurate, as high trigger pull on a revolver can cause me to pull the gun slightly to the right. With Centerfire Revolvers a Two handed shooting keeps the movement to a minimum. Revolver shooting and trigger pull is different from semi auto pistol to be accurate. I treat it like a two stage trigger and I pull the trigger to a certain point hold the trigger there till i get sighted on POI, then with a slower steady pull through rest of the trigger length of pull the rest of the way. This method seems most accurate with Powder burner Revolvers as they have a Long trigger pull cycle due to having to rotate the cylinder to the next shot. Also Like your subtitle Music choices Great job on your videos. Hey thanks for mentioning me. Wow FPS is now 700 fps. that would be good power for heavy Slugs. been wanting to make a Slug Mold and try some puncturing slugs
Thanks man. That thing is way louder! Haha And it has a lot more recoil now in my opinion. Yeah the shot count was not really a concern to me either. No problem on the mention. I still say you should be making video's with all of the knowledge you have. I am looking forward to making some slugs for it. Should be pretty interesting. Going to practice that trigger pull too!
@@bigjsoutdoorsairguns9007 Saw a video where a guy agrees to get shot by a HDR .50 cal and a .68 cal gun both using hard rubber ball in each. and he said between the two, the impact of the Larger .68 cal damaging a larger area of skin which means a larger area of trauma over a larger area of skin, the .68cal had more trauma and was more painful. They showed both impacts on the Guys back and the .68 cal was a worse looking bruise with more blood vessels broken under the skin. the .68 cal was at a Lower FPS than the .50cal. so as a deterrent, or to stop someone inside your house, the .68 showed more Pain induced over a larger area on the body. I bought some Pepper balls, a while back, in .68cal, But i dont think i would ever use them inside the house and Pollute the inside of my house, as clean up afterward would take weeks to months, and if the pepper gets into the ducting, it could take longer.
I bought the 11 joule upgrade valve from Rockstar tactical, but I'm afraid to install it. The part where you split the inside and the springs have to be removed is what's keeping me from doing it! I'm deathly afraid of ruining the gun.
@@bigjsoutdoorsairguns9007 I shot some lead balls out of mine from my 50 cal muzzle loader and they work just fine and hit pretty hard, lefted some dents in a sheet of wood I had laying around so I ordered the 11j power kit like you got sir so I’m hoping it will hit a little harder with my pumpkin balls
well, i wish you would have shown where two more spring is at that popped off from behind a cast rocker labeled E7 in front of the trigger. off to find a different video....
I installed the 11joule Umarex valve in my TR-50 and now the round cartridge that holds the 6 rubber balls spins freely. It still advances per trigger pull, but if not pulling the trigger I can spin it loosely and freely and it never did that before. I followed the video step by step, what did I do wrong???
@@bigjsoutdoorsairguns9007 No, it is quite simple. Unfortunately for you, you will have to unscrew the whole thing again in order to remove the pin and its holder (^^)
PSA: 11J and 20J TR50s pop up on Ebay from time to time. I even bought a 11J valve a couple of days ago when everywhere else is backordered or sold out. Set an Ebay alert for them.
Wow! I feel a bit burned already -- I just ordered one and thought the HDR was just rebranded for the US market -- didn't know they lowered the power on it.....
@@mobilegamersunite let me know where you ordered your kit. I ordered a powerkit50 from this German store but I’m not sure if it’s the best one. I want a max power upgrade.
Great video! My 11 joules valve is on its way so I'll be referring to this video again to install. Nice attention to detail, Thanks! You mentioned the colt pellet mags fitting in the HDR 50. Do you know that for sure, or is that what you heard?
Good morning! I think I was referencing how the Colt mag fits the Umarex Brodax. I think that's what I said. 😆 It has been a long time since I made the video. Haha I appreciate the compliment and I am glad you have found the video useful. Have a great day.
@@bigjsoutdoorsairguns9007 I just swapped out the valve and it went easy as pie. Thanks again for the instructions because I'm sure without them I'd never have gotten it done so easy. 👍🏼
I have a medical condition called Parkersons makes it impossible for me to keep my hands from shaking, who do you suggest I seek out to help me a machinist handyman or GunSmith?
Good morning Julio! I am going to refer you to a friend of mine who is working on some slug development for these guns. Maybe he can answer your question. Please let him know that Big J sent you. Here is a link to one of his videos. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dKDUMSqn4Y4.html
I have had a few ask. It will probably be awhile because I can no longer shoot at my house because of a neighbor crying about it. It is definitely way louder and faster though! Haha I love it!
I was wondering what ammo do you like best for this weapon and where did you purchase I was looking at the pepper balls on byrna but I see you can only purchase 5 at time! Thanks for the vid can't wait to mod mine!🤙🏾
Hey Ryan, I am glad you are liking the video. I have only purchased one type of ammo for it. What's up Hayden?! Good to hear from you brotha! Yeah there is a lot you can do with these. Like really ruining someone's day. 😆 I am sure you are already aware of Rune Rebel's channel but if not go check him out. Lots of info about these kinds of guns. Lol Keep me posted on how the valve install goes for you and I hope you find this video useful. BTW do you have anything interesting in that store that I might need to look at? 😉
@@bigjsoutdoorsairguns9007 We still have the compressor... I got another DPMS SBR from my shop last week. Hoping we get one of those Crosman AR pistols or the AK-1 pretty soon!

I have a 4000 watt generator that I never use. Do you think that would be of interest?🤔 Man your job has to be tough! My whole pay check would go right back to them! 😆
have a question, I heard if you take out the restriction in side of where the CO2 goes, you can get more power, up to 20 juls, so my dumb ass tried it. Took everything apart and like you took me forever figuring out how to put it back. Wouldnt you know it, didnt work, so took it apart again, put the restriction back in, put everything back together and now my issue is, the black piece at the end of the spring, that launches the balls (sorry, not sure what it is called) stays out at various shots or when the CO2 looses power, any idea what that could be.....?
If I buy the unmarex TR50 and the 11 Joules valve kit, is there someone that I can pay to take it apart for me and put the new valve in? I live in Maryland and This would be perfect for defense. Thanks
How much would you charge to do the modification if I provided the TR50 and valve? I just don’t trust myself to do the work, even though you made a great video on it. Lol
Hi Robert! I tell ya what if you pay for shipping back and forth I will do it for free. I like working on these airguns so it would be my pleasure. Let me know if you want me to do it for you. Thanks for watching! I do appreciate it!
Hi Francois, unfortunately I am no longer working on these for people. There are to many little parts that are really easy to loose. The last one I did ended up costing me money instead of making some for me. I apologize. I hope you can understand. Thanks for watching.
Maybe with the right projectile. Rubber coated steel ball or some of the home made slugs with bb's or other materials making them heavy enough to carry some energy. Would be interesting to see.
No, there is a regulator inside that can be removed and it increases it to around 20 Joules. I have personally have not done it so I am not sure what the procedure is. I was also told that you only get one shot a 20 Joules due to the limits of a 12 gram co2. I guess it drops off pretty fast.
