While Baz Luhrmann didn't direct a film based on the Ned Kelly story in 2000, Gregor Jordan did direct a film based on a book which in turn was based on the Ned Kelly story in 2003. Also, the Umbies did their routine for several minutes.
As funny as this whole thing is, I’m probably most impressed by the amount of strength and stamina it would take to strike a pose, and then hold it like a statue as you’re carried off stage.
Fantastic. I have a tip for the cameramen and editors: Their act is like a theater act. Any camera angle that does not simulate an audience member, is most likely to subtract from the bit. If I had it my way, every video of the Umbilical Brothers would be 95% medium-shot opposite the stage. That's why the Speedmouse DVD is the their best video yet and "Don't Explain" is full of frustrating misses: directors and editors thinking they can add to the show with different shots and camera angle cuts.
