Umbozha is one of the best houseboats that provides transport and accommodation between Kariba, Victoria Falls and many safari lodges in the Northern part of Zimbabwe. I was fortunate to spend three days on the houseboat, and enjoyed every minute. Including the potentially risky lake swimming :) Shot using a GoPro Hero 3+.

Yes, I lived there for about 30 Years and I have to say jumping into the water of Kariba is a bit risky. Although not so dangerous as near the Shoreline - there is a definite no-no! Although Hippos kill more people in Africa than any other Wild Animal - with the exception of the dreaded "Mozzie" that is! :)

Bit risky swimming in Karina but glad you came out in one piece. That boat is the bees knees. I am Zimbabwean and didn't know till now that the river is navigable by boat from Vic falls to Kariba

GrumpyTinashe Yes - in hindsight I would have jumped in. As you can see from the comments I was very lucky! But yes, there are a few houseboats that now journey between Kariba and Victoria Falls 😊

We were told - genuinely - that the crocs don't swim out to the deepest part in the centre of Lake Kariba. Turns out most of the comments on this video would disagree, and in which case we were all very lucky to escape!

OMG man wtf!!! I'm a native zimbabwean and the amount of times ive seen 5 meter crocs right in the middle of the lake!!! Weren't you told by the staff or anyone that swimming is strictly prohibited!?? lol my jaw literally dropped to the floor when i saw you guys diving into the lake! haha thank God nothing happened!!

Haha! We were warned...kind of...but we didn't see any sneaky croc eyes in the water, so went for it. Having heard from many people that crocs do swim across Lake Kariba, I don't think I'd do it again! :)

That is not true thay do not swim in or across deep water thay like to hang around the shallows. Even if they do thay will not eat you thay have a flap in there thought that stops water from passing so if thay try to swallow any thing thay will drown. That is why thay hang around the shallows. If thay try and pull you too manshoor there energy will finish and thay no that. So if you are far enough it is safe to swim. BTW I live in karida

I'm sorry, but I'm from Zim and to jump into Kariba after being warned! You are actually... I have no words without being rude. Do you know how many friends of my parents friends have been eaten alive ny crocodiles? And thats just by getting into the boats. People are taken daily and there you are jumping into the lake! You need you head examined.
