This is very prog rock. This is a good thing. Sounds more prog than dungeon synth to me but genres are pretty meaningless anyway. A nice collection of tunes!
It's not just quality, inspired music that video-games need... The entire 'industry' has reached the saturation point and has forgotten how the good old video-game was made; and what actually made it good. Look at the developers of yesterday versus those of today--a totally different level of passion and focus.
The artwork is absolutely beautiful, it grabbed my attention immediately and then the music proved to be equally good! Some of the most enchanting and magical DS I have heard in ages with a very unique sound.
@@TheDungeonSynthArchives I have seen his art before on postcards etc in Glastonbury funnily enough. I didn't realise til looking him up now that he died with his family in a shipwreck 😥RIP to the Bauer's and let their memory live on in John's wonderful artwork.
A most wonderous work perfect for winter gaming with a warm cup of coffee. Thank you very much for this beautiful enchanting music and Happy New Year to all :)
@@Sanctorum1 Cold enough yet not colder still than the darkest corner of some cursed treasure rich dungeon haunted by monstrous beings and seductions unnatural. It can get below fifteen degrees below zero and with the wind chill factor it can feel twice that here in New York. Hope it has been a good year thus far for you and HAPPY HALLOWEEN SEASON! ☕ Oh and sorry for the very long delay in responding. Seems i don't always get notified of replies and have to bookmark and check on replies myself.
I feel like all of life is laid out in front of me, and all emotions are felt, and all knowledge is known and all things are understood, and perfect is the beauty of tragedy. The pain pierces and the tears are joy. Chaos nor order above the other. It’s all here, as it should be. That first song just hits me.
Bless this band for producing something other than long, depressing synth droning like so many other Dungeon Synth artists. Proves you won't ruin the ambience by having more than one note every 45-60 seconds.
Umbria is one of the best DS artists I've found. There's a lot of compositional and instrumental complexity to the work that is all too often lacking in DS. A lot of bands like Fogweaver are good at setting an interesting mood but get stuck in repetitive drones much too often. Even more so with winter synth. But Umbria keeps it varied and proggy.

wait, you are saying it wasnt, i assure you it was teetering on a mild 12 and up Rating, play the game again, there is a striking amount of loss, greif and veggietale style gore in it
It was cartoon girm fantasty, but almost like a Tim Burton movie if you swapped the coor scheme with alot of yellows, blues and hints of red instead of everything being 6-7 shades of black, gray and charcoal
I'm very amazed, intrigued, excited and in awe at the same time by the ppl who really make this music! It's what makes my inner nerd become a real aspiration of an outer nerd. This means nothing, it's just something I thought about. It was never spoken, only written.
