@@highergroundnomad8582 yeah absolutely! I touched on linking wallets a little bit in this video, but perhaps I'll do a deeper dive. If you want an example of how this process works, check out my video on mynode (the second one) which shows how to link a wallet. It'll give you a pretty good idea for the time being.
@BTC Sessions Thank you for this video! I’m now using Umbrel and have a question. Were you able to connect your BlueWallet on your iPhone? With the new Umbrel update they give more detailed instructions on how to hook up a wallet, which is great. But beside the blue wallet connect, it says only for android. I am wondering if it is possible to hook it up to an iPhone blue wallet as well?
@@bretthenry6129 I have been talking to Umbrel support and they say that it is not possible to use an external wallet to deposit funds into the LN wallet. I have learned that there is no point in connecting an external wallet to Umbrel. We really have to use the Umbrel BTC wallet for LN fund transfers.
Everyone can read a book or watch a video - but it’s the Hands-On Tutorials at places like BTC Sessions that makes real progress possible for the regular folks. 👏👏
This is really a great instructional video. I have a MacBook Pro, and I'm wanting to run a Bitcoin node. I want to use my Mac, of course, and I'm learning how to install Umbrel on my Mac. You are a HUGE help!

I am pretty clumsy with this kind of stuff, but nevertheless the tutorial was easy to follow and succeeded in my first attempt. The only thing extra I had to do was the connection of a fan included with the Arduino case I got. That was explained in its instructions manual. My Umbrel is already happily churning blocks.
Wow, that was an amazing tutorial, thank you so much! I am getting my raspberry pi very soon and I think I will give umbrel node a try :) I love how you explain it man
Great video. Looks like umbrel has updated their website since recording. There is now a great step by step slider on how to download and get onto microSD card. 👍👍
Thinking about this myself, so what are your thoughts now it's been a few months? Any advice? I haven't watched this tutorial yet by the way, just wanted your opinion 👍
Excellent tutorial. Best I found as it explains everything I need to get my Pi-node up and running and get the most from it. Last few parts due in today.
Dude, thank you, wish i found your vid first, i followed some other channel which i won't name, and ran into all kinds of silly logistic issues. Noded atlast.

Ah. I see this video is 3 years old. I bought a Coldcard after watching some Swan videos and I also have watched your video on how to use the Mark4. I'm going to stop watching this now that I know that it is 3 years old though. Your knowledge and intelligence are Very impressive. Your Teaching abilities.. not so much unfortunately. People like you who are very intelligent and intuitive tend to SKIP the small little details needed one by one to TEACH people who do not know what you know. Please take a course in teaching! Because you are doing important work and you need to be as good at teaching as you are at doing. Thank you.
Great Vid! My good friend runs a bar and we are looking into how we can use BTCpay for a POS system. Any vids on this? we also plan to onboard other businesses in the community. Keep up the good work!
Umbrels updated alot since you posted this video. Can you do an update on the setup? I currently have 4 options to connect wallet p2p tor p2p local host rcp tor rpc local host Not sure which one to choose
I know absolutely nothing about any of it but will do it just to help protect the only immutable thing ever created. Finally a sacrifice worth making! Sound money is back. Satoshi has struck the hour. Bitcoin forever.
excellent video tutorial, greatly appreciated. I was able to find all the parts to order on amazon to Puerto Rico thx to your links minus the following. Hard drive enclosure is not available to ship here, do you have any alternative solutions on where I can find it? Also how about a link to the cooling dual fan unit that goes inside the custom case? thanks
I'm surprised you can't manage your BTC wallet UTXOs on here (and possibly accounts) like with Sparrow. I wonder if they're working on that... Thanks for the video!
Hi Ben, great tutorials, thank you! MyNode and Umbrel both seem to be doing pretty much the same stuff. What's the pros and cons of each and which ones would you recommend to start with?
I just installed Raspberry OS using their installation imager. I noticed that Umbrel appears to be preinstalled. Is this the full Umbrel OS? Are there additional apps i.e. Bitcoin node yet to be installed? Thanks for your responses.
Thank you for the video. This seems a little complicated for me to install, as to my technical level. Is there a way to purchase the whole thing which it has already set up and ready to purchase? Thanks.
What I don’t understand is, you’re using umbrel on your pc, it even looks like everything was downloaded via your pc? So what exactly is the ras doing?
Help needed!! New to Lightning. I am not seeing a clear way to transfer bitcoin to my LND wallet on Umbrel. How is that done? I did send so my bitcoin wallet on the Umbrel but how to get it into the Lightning wallet on Umbrel?

Hi Ben.... Set up Umbrel, all looks good, synced etc.... But when I try to send btc to it from some of my wallets (wirex and mycelium), it says ´this is not a valid address´ Any idea what the problem is? TY
I am trying to follow the instructions precisely but I am hung up on what you settled up with for the cooling. I have aluminum heat sinks to stick on the 3 chips but they may not be enough cooling. What do you recommend?
from what i understand umbrel has its own btc wallet so if i click bitcoin and click deposit im sending btc to my node or do i need to connect a wallet before sending anything to umbrel?
Just a Question… as I got one unused, will a Raspi 3B+ still do the work? Everywhere you read “no, the 4 is right” but. I wonder… got a 3B + (4GB) I should try it…is yours still online or working fast enough? Would be my first node so yeah, if itvworks as intended that’s enough for first. Thx
Thx for showing me this Ben... Im not so interest about a lightning node but just a regular node interests me. Do you recommend a particular wallet? Perhaps you mention it in the video as I havent watched the whole thing yet... If so I'll come back and change my comment.
Personally I use Wasabi for desktop and Blue Wallet for mobile. Wasabi was super easy to connect here (just a quick copy/paste), while Blue Wallet took a bit of playing around and required me to download Orbot on my phone along with a few other steps. I suspect Blue will get easier over time. Next best option for mobile is likely Blockstream Green when it comes to connecting to Umbrel.
23% into syncing the blockchain to my node and umbrel.local froze and is unresponsive. I try to reload but the page won’t load. Any suggestions on how to remedy this ?
Great video, thanks. I have a laptop I have been think of turning into a node and possibly solo mining to it. Can I use Umbrel with a laptop and use its internal hard drive to store the blockchain? Also, is it possible to solo mine to an Umbrel node? I have some small asics that I use to play the bitcoin lotto...
Can the USBC Gen 2 version of the WAVLINK Hard Drive enclosure work with that same Western Digital Drive you linked or does it have to be the USB 3.0 version of the Hard Drive enclosure?
Have you hooked btc pay up to a website yet? I’m having trouble getting the pay in btc pay button to work on my webpages. How do I set up all the dns and server stuff as well.
I noticed Umbrel is in Beta. Any risk of accessing umbrel site from personal laptop? Or is the risk strictly limited to the btc held in umbrell node wallet.
The SD card runs the operating system, while the hard drive stores all the additional information (like the Bitcoin blockchain). I have a little hub that allows me to plug different things into my laptop.
Thank you so much for this video. Very easy instructions. But where did you purchase the parts? Anywhere but amazon... And why do they have different prices for Raspberry Pi 4? Hope to hear from you. Do you have an updated video for Oct. 2021? Would love to see it. How does ledger x work with it?
Thanks for the video ...I must be daft but I cannot download the unbrel file? Where is it? you didnt show this on the video ...I have been all over the umbrel website
This is crazy. After downloading Umbrel and the Blockchain. Nothing, absolutely nothing you said after that has helped me one tiny spec. Ughhhhhhh!!! Much has changed in the past 2 years.
Hi BTC- I just saw you with Preston Pish podcast and I was blow away about running your own nose. So I subscribed to you channel and learn more about it. When can I get all the hardware parts to build my own node?
Hi man, one question. If i link my mobile bluewallet (for example) to my umbrel node, do I have to create a channel (from bluewallet to my node) to route lightning transaction or is sufficient to insert my node ip and port in bluewallet and automatically it will route both btc and lightning transaction?
the wd blue ssd isn't compatible with linux,. how did you get it to work with your raspberry pi which runs a linux kernel? i have linux as my main os and it's not reading it.
@@supreme7738 I had trouble getting mine to read the ssd. I connected to my main laptop and used Mac OS disk utility to erase - format to FatEx. Then I plugged it in and it worked. I think that the umbrel OS may not have the correct drivers to support every SATA drive. It could also be something with the case. Hope this helps. I spent all day going back and forth trying to get it to work. I started with an external HDD and it was going to take weeks. I bought the exact one he used here, and a similar case on amazon. After a few hours shy of two days I am past 75% synched.
@@Josh-zd7ln hey thanks man that was definitely going to by my next move but i let umbrels image take care of the formatting etc and it worked! now as far as the latest umbrel update that is another story lol
