I run a small shark package of Abyss Shark and Dream Shark. Both are better options than Dark Reef and Maiden in my opinion. Many decks use field spells which makes Maiden useless. Dream Shark is excellent because if you brick and draw Lv5s without Umi, you can SS Dream Shark and Tribute summon Kairyu Shin. Because its a handtrap heavy format I also play 1x Instant Fusion to go onto M.E.R. and 1x Called By. I main deck 2 Forbidden Lances to prevent Jellyfish or Kairyu Shin from getting impermed or Dark Ruler'd. I used to not see the value in Doom Kraken but ive learned to appreciate him more because hes a great interruption and helps you dodge taegetng field effects on any monster on your field.
I understand and in my Shark build I also run those ratios. No maiden and only 1 reef. The shark build has its perks, for sure. I just feel like I have to do multiple things. In my testing, simple is always better and Kairyu shin wins games alone. Having the Toad and Kairyu-shin +Jellyfish is a great board, but I find myself still struggling in making it consistently. As for Kraken, it is a great card, but again it goes to show that if you open it and no other starter, well, that's usually a GG. Still, I have to do some more testing. That's what I love about this deck. All the ratios can be messed around with and monster cards changed. No build will be the same!
@@dantea7475 Millennium Eyes Restrict. An excellent fusion monster that will negate 1 Handtrap the turn it's summoned. I always use instant fusion to summon it from the extra deck. It's a great way to counter Ash, Gamma, or Droll.
I’ve started running a version of umi control with 2 time-tearing morganite, 1 numen erat testudo, and 1 testudo erat numen. Being able to safely normal summon jellyfish and kairyu shin is amazing to avoid getting impermed, and the inclusion of the testudos can create brutal boards.
Kudos for not running an Amphibious Bugroth MK 11 in this deck to get an OPT blast. And even though it sets a Sea Stealth on summon, you probably tested and nixed a Citadel Whale 🐋 I wonder how your deck combats Rikka, because the water plant waifus do crazy things with their umbrellas ☂️ ☔
I have tossed and turned on that card. I have playtested it as well, but honestly it doesn't feel good in this deck. There is no card you want to additionally normal summon. Besides the draw 2, it does very little and cuts you off from Warrior of Atlantis and your HT's. You also are not scared of your opponent responding to your NS because Kairyu-Shin is an effect that happens as soon as it touches the water (field) so there is also no point for that effect in this deck .
