I run a bunch of shopping carts online and write custom investing software. That's why I don't do this to generate work, or ever try to sell anything. This stuff I do on RU-vid is just for fun and to help others
In my opinion, use Wordpress because even though the community isn't perfect it is better than the other 2 CMSs. Wordpress themes are largely made with HTML and CSS. You'll need JavaScript to add interactive capabilities and a little PHP, but for the most part you just copy and paste the PHP codes provided by Wordpress. I have over 80 tutorials on making Wordpress themes, plugins, etc.
I love talking to you guys :) In an offhanded comment I said that if anyone has any leftover thanksgiving food send it to me if you can figure out where I live. It ends up it isn't that hard to find me. ( I really shouldn't be doing this again, because my wife will kill me this time )
They provide another way to describe your system. They are valuable because they focus just on interactions and the order of those interactions. I don't often find the need to use them, but I make very detailed sequence diagrams
I used to be able to speak German and read Chinese and Japanese, but I have since forgotten most of that. I use a translator so that I'm able to communicate in other languages. More then likely I'm communicating poorly :)
I'm sorry, but I don't get the Gwen Stefani reference. I'm not up on pop culture stuff. I can't remember the last time I listened to popular music. I'm probably the least hip person you know. I also think there are people that watch my videos that have no interest in programming. That does crack me up :)
The Drupal vs. WP thing is just like the Mac vs. PC fight. 22% of new sites are being made using WP vs. Drupal's 2%. I show you how to write the code from scratch in my tutorials.
Oh, it is just a cheesy Apple iMovie graphic that I used for so long that I just kept using it. You'll love the popup messages I used to use with flowers on them :) I thought it was my voice because I have a terrible cold. I know the Apple stuff is kind of cheesy, but it was free
No no no, it's beautifully narrated, I meant literally the intro graphic looks like something from a stock site that my Mom would use. With that being said, your name makes me sing Gwen Stefani songs.
That's funny :) When I was in high school that was my nickname. I got it because I played football I played so recklessly that I broke a never ending supply of bones. Finally when I broke my tailbone clean off I stopped playing football
I absolutely love how you just ignored that entire comment, and I do not even blame you. That's hilarious, I might just have to try that out, haha. What do you do for income? Programmer?:D
Hello Derek, As per your presentation, I see that, communication diagrams are giving different representation to each piece of sequence diagram, but does not add more information to it.then why do we use CDiagrams?
Hey Derek. You said that: "I only ever use use cases, class diagrams and sequence diagrams". Does that mean that the essential tutorials are 1 to 4? Are the tutorials 5 to 9 skippable?
On the last picture, why there is no number on the arrow on the right hand side of 4.4? And why does 4.1.4 has arrows in two directions, but on the communication diagram only in one direction?
To be honest i haven't played with it much. To be really honest I normally draw my diagrams in the real world either on white boards, or with paper and pencil. I'm old :)
I don't want to be a jerk, because I did appreciate your good video (and I gave it a like), but there are so many mistakes and inconsistencies in your graphics. I didn't notice, until I checked out the cheatsheet link. It's really confusing. If you want to know what I'm referring to, I can make you a list.
I got a stupid ass question, regarding this, I have to do this to a program, but what I am not sure what I have to metion on the diagram since some sources say you have to point out the contructor and ALL THE VARIBLES WITHIN THE CONTRUCTOR? Or is it just the key varibles/lines?
Oh? It's a fanboy war? I assumed there some some sort of objective reasoning for it, lol alright then! I'll get right on those tutorials and stop bothering you! Thank you oh so much, Friend!
SAY WHUUUUUUUUUTTTTT. Damn son! I didn't know that! Awesome! I'll get right on that! Although, I heard Drupal is the best? Community and product. But I don't get, Wordpress is a CMS? That's terribly confusing, because it has the online thing, but Drupal I just have the folder, is there a online editor like Wordpress has?
Woah, that's so epic! I'm trying to learn HTML / CSS (Which I understand), Javascript(No fucking hope at all), PHP(Meeeh)...and I'm trying to work out the purpose of WordPress & things like Drupal and Joomla, I just know they're CMSs.
Like an idiot I used my real name on RU-vid. The best part of using your real name online is when you get sent rotten food in the mail for Thanksgiving :P (I probably shouldn't have mentioned that)
All is well, Friend! I subbed a bit ago and started watching your Javascript videos now, they're wonderful, thank you very much. I still have NO fucking clue what is going on, but it's beautifully crafted. Also, It deeply saddens me you didn't acknowledge my Gwen Stefani joke.
Hah, that's giggleicious. I totally just thought of that. I'm so baked. Feel free to not respond to this, be it for the lack of substance, or the fact that giggleicious just blew YO MIND. Stay sexy, my Friend.
Hi, You seem like a good professor, but I'm not getting a whole lot out of your videos. You only show the parts, not the logic. The problem is, I took a master's level class in OOAD and we used UML, but I'm not sure that the professor really knew the topic or if he was showing us a refined way of doing the assignment to make it easier to identify what we needed to know. Here are some issues I noticed: 1) My actor is in the middle of my diagrams NOT as the initiator of the Use Case. 2) Lots of diagrams have branches or divergent lines going too other "objects," our diagrams are linear. It was required. 3) So when an "object" or participant (as you call it) is on the tail end of the linear you have to send messages from the preceding participants to MAKE the other participants do what you want. In a lot of ways they make sense. But they are totally different from what I've seen in textbooks including the book we are using. I would be willing to pay someone to help me look over this, but I don't know where to get help. I made an A in this class. I finished my master's with a 4.0. Thanks!
sam fireman It is completely understandable that you're struggling. Everyone struggles with these topics in the beginning. I think much of what you are looking for is in my Object Oriented Design tutorial. Tell me if you have any questions about it.
