i thought for super series, its not allowed for the umpire to be same nationality as any of the playing teams? a must or just good practice??? anyways, there are 2 fundamental wrongs in this: 1. Umpire is incompetent 2. Why isnt the referee doing anything to overrule the wrong? What's the purpose of having a higher authority referee sitting in the game, i wonder actually

Basic rules in BWF is each individual or pairs got 2 challenge in 1 set.... The Japan pairs have right to use the challenge but the judges not allowed it.... Very very very biased..... Should take actions BWF....

Not just one, but the entire Chinese team. They should have voiced out for the opposite team in this scenario, the players, the coach or so... They showed zero sportsmanship... Not even giving up the trophy, just the right to challenge... Yet, until today, i could not find any related news to this umpire. No apology, no action taken. All in all, not just because of ONE person, but the entire series of action from China. Period.

During the Japanese Empire Times, they abused and exploited their neighboring countries peoples. They’ve done awful, unspeakable things. The umpire did his studies on History as well as his elders who probably survived Japans Iron Rule. So, yeah there’s a touch of anger or payback towards Japan because these two represents the whole of Japan.

The entire point of being an umpire is to be UNBIASED and take nationality, religion, gender or anything else that could change your decision out of your way of thinking. What this umpire did was totally unacceptable even for small-scale tournaments. This should never happen even with tensions between countries.
