United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Friday he is profoundly concerned by escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah and that UN peacekeepers are working to calm the situation and prevent miscalculation.
Al Jazeera's Gabriel Elizondo is reporting live from the UN headquarters, while Assed Baig provides up-dates from Beirut. Additionally, Marwan Bishara, Al Jazeera's Senior Political Analyst, offers his analysis live from Paris.

Israel is worried, any normal country would be, but with the continued rocket fire from Lebanon every day, what choice do they have? 100 thousand citizens displaced, their homes destroyed, the north of Israel in flames, they haven't much choice. If resolution 1701 had ever been enforced, the people of Lebanon would not have to fear a war from Israel, and vice versa

Bashara misses the point completely here. After october's 7 , Israelis would not accept terrorist regime on their border that might prepare for invasion. They will get the Iranians away from the border according to un1701 resolution, one way or another. It might be related to the gaza war only for hezbolla, not from the israeli perspective. Islam ideology is anti Liberty, anti-woman and anti-black. Islamic ideology doesn't seek to accommodate Humanity.... they seek the subjugated. Humanity must stand against it. That doesn't mean standing with Israeli but it also doesn't mean stopping Israel.

In any case i personally find what has happened on 7 oct is atrocious but i can understand why it happened because i consider the context. When you live in an open concentration camp you want to break free, and if you have beeen living there for long enough you may lose your mind. I would. So israelis should have paused and interrogated themelselves. Isnt high time they let the palestinian people breathe and feel safe and free?

Thats good peacekeepers are trying to calm it down. I think Israel appriciate that since they dont want any war on any other fronts.. ever again. But Hebzollah didn't travel to the israeli border to stand there as border guards for ever I assume...
