"Today we received, together with a representation of the government of La Guaira and the mayor, these sister ships from the Russian Federation, who in their passage through the Caribbean are making a stop in our state of La Guaira to rest, to share, to express with the crews of these ships, their friendship, their solidarity and, of course, their support to Venezuela, their backing."

STORYLINE:
La fragata Almirante Gorshkov y el buque petrolero Akademik Pashin de la armada de Rusia, que realizan ejercicios en el océano Atlántico, atracaron en el puerto de La Guaira en Venezuela, un estrecho aliado de Moscú en la región.
Miembros de la tripulación de los barcos tuvieron la oportunidad de recorrer por espacio de una hora el casco histórico de La Guaira, que data de tiempos de la colonia española, constataron el martes periodistas de AP.
Ambas embarcaciones forman parte de la llamada Flota del Norte, que desde el 17 de mayo realiza tareas entre las que se incluye “exhibir la bandera y “garantizar la presencia naval” rusa en “zonas remotas de los océanos”, informó el Ministerio de Defensa ruso, citado por la agencia estatal rusa de noticias Tass.
