I love that your restorations actually RESTORE the item to its original condition and aren't just 40 pounds of bondo covered with paint. Excellent job as always!

You sound like me . I feel the same about how alot of folks do this work . I've restored over 200 + Knives . So I'm very particular .as to how to do a knife .
@martyjehovah

Using a bunch of bondo so you can skip the hard work of sanding is definitely a bad thing that some restorers are guilty of, but there are also times when bondo/filler is the right move, and unfortunately a lot of people are under the impression it is always lazy and bad. For example if an antique part is thin, and deeply pitted it would be better to clean/stop further rusting and then use filler to even out the surface rather than sanding the part to oblivion or outright replacing it with new parts and ruining the piece's originality. Bondo is just another tool in your toolbox that under very specific circumstances is the better choice.

I think that probably the best part of this restoration is the history of all parts. Given the choice of quality used over new, i’d always go used. I love to hold wood in particular knowing its been held and crafted before. I love old watches for the same reason. Never having had a Swiss army knife, this old gal would be delighted to own this one - or buy any other you restore in the future. Tastefully done.

When I was a child, I was playing with a Swiss knife of my fathers'. I had not handled one before. I had the main blade out, and went to close it, and it was hard to close. It finally flipped closed - directly onto my thumb! I still have the scar now at age 38. I love your channel and work and beer reviews, it is a fun combination and I always look forward to your next video.

This is a tremendous video and I’m sure that the lessons learned in taking something like this apart and attempting to restore it is worth it just for the learning experience and displaying the steps one must do, however, went after laboriously cleaning up the main blade and then it snapped, into two pieces, it also reflects another valuable lesson which is that some things are too far gone to restore and you should just buy new!!! But the final product is just stunning and you have made a very high class video👍🏼

Congratulations on reaching 41,300+ subscribers! This proves that the things you do are great to watch, and always highlight your skill with metallurgy, woodworking, and restoral processes. The thing that impressed me the most in this episode was the making of the broken copper plates. You not only produced exact copies out of a copper sheet, but you nickel plated them as well for authenticity, as well as protection! I admire that you chose a multi laminated handle for this knife. This gives the finished knife a distinct personality, and uniqueness. Well done! I hope your subscribers continue to grow as the years pass. NO TO WAR.

Beautiful job there, must be very old, as I do not think Victorinox has made wooden sheathed knives for a long time, but still the classic look on it, and a great job on fixing it as well. I have a similar one which I used regularly, till the knife itself wore out, and the clip for the lanyard wore through. Repaired that with silver solder, but eventually it had to become a drawer piece. Aluminium sides, with the NATO issue number on it, the proper military version. Great knives, and that it was still so sharp after so long in a field is testament to the great design and good material choice. Your choice of replacing the wood with the same is great, though you really made it shine with all the colours chosen in the selection of wood used. A top job on this one, showing your attention to details, even in small parts.
