I find it hard enough to do a backflip without worrying I'm gonna fall and break my neck, can't imagine what it's like to be six feet in the air relying on other people to not kill you
Me too. I find it hard to find my balance in the air and it's kinda hard to put all your trust on your bases. Because, there's this time when I fell (from doing scale in the air) and it traumatized me because I have no spot at that time.
Absolutely amazing both the flyer and the bases. It takes soo MUCH work to get one stunt down. Trust is an essential element here. The flyer has to trust the bases fully and here in this video it's clear how much they trust them. No doubt just pure teamwork
I freak out at the amount of trust required by flyers in their base. saw a great image on Instagram about distracted bases. three flyers I air with three sets of bases eating and taking selfies. funny because you knew it was an imaginative composite.
bill mcfadden I’m a flyer and my base has been my friend for about eight years now and I really trust her and the other one I have no connection except for cheer I’m also in all star cheer so I get to go 14-20 ft in the air and I’m also a backup base and yeah
Im a base most of the time and I always know that if I don’t catch the flyer the other base and the backspot will help. One time my flyer picked back to far while doing a cradle and she ended up going over the backspots shoulder ( I do not blame the backspot because there was nothing she could do. I felt extremely bad and still do feel bad today.
DEACTIVATED CHANNEL Why. Why does all star suddenly make it a sport? That’s bullshit. Competitive cheerleaders can go to worlds and compete against the best of them. Just because you think you’re better than us, doesn’t mean you are
With competitive cheerleading, I'm never sure who I'm more impressed by: the girls doing these insane stunts, or the guys throwing and holding them up in one hand
I’m a base and it’s tough but now I have arm muscles and slight abs. U have to hold 30kg above your head btw I’m only 11 that’s why I only have small flyers
Im a backspot and the bases think they do all the work when i get all the brusis and im only eleven and the lightes but the tallest in the team when the flyers fall i have to make sure she dose not get hurt and for me to get hurt and i got a bunch of bruses a nad wrist and knee
No but that’s a super old video and I’m 500% the male in grey and the flier themselves were our side coaches for my high school cheer team and they were so chill and so nice but they were beasts for sure I did like a quadruple take when I saw them on this random compilation 😂
Bebe gang love uhm...gymnastics is in the freakin olympics yah it’s considered a sport by pretty much everyone; whereas cheer, most people think of Pom poms and football games and not competitive cheer
I love how flyers just meet their bases and are like “I’m trusting you with my life while we throw myself in the air” and the base goes “I got you homie”. It’s hard to trust someone enough to do so many of these tricks.
I dont recognize the gym, but when I was doing compedative cheer(Centeral Coast Elite) there was a girl just like the one at 5:08 named Alex (10 I think). I swear she looks just like her, and was just as good too, so if I'd recognized the gym I definitely would've said it was her.
Sam Jon I do all star cheer I’m a flyer and I’m a back up base . One of my bases are somebody I met when I started cheer and the other one I have known her 8 years before I started cheer and I love cheer so much I also get to travel a lot but I costs SO MUCH!
*people just stop and read* I dont know why people hate cheerleaders its a sport and this is not a movie i know in the movis they think there pretty but in real life they just like cheerleadeling and what you see in the movies is fake
5:52 okay but this one right here god damn how did that girl pick up the other girl?? i am so amazed cheerleaders are so great i know they work very hard to make these look perfect!! lowkey wanna become one
For sure me! Through I do Special Olympics, so cheerleading is also part of the Special Olympics sports. Which its one of my favorite sport to do and I'm pretty good at it through I'm a disabled athlete with autism and cerebral palsy, it doesn't let me down. It's sad that people say that cheerleading is not a sport but whatever, it's to show the physical skills and abilities of a cheerleader have and to show their school spirit. I have done cheerleading just for Special Olympics competition.
Wow!!! I’m not in the world of cheerleading or anything but I’ve always enjoyed watching at games and on ESPN when it’s aired. These guys are blowing my mind!!! 🤯😳😲
i have a few points to make first off “cheerleading tricks” is not the right term lmao rip second this makes me miss cheer so bad and i’m going to a cheer camp this summer but im so out of shape because i haven’t been stretching or working out or practicing once the last cheer season ended third, these stunts all look super cool and i wiSh we could do those because the people in my squad can’t even do liberties yet :’) fourth some of these give me major flashbacks to when i first started flying k i’m done i’ll go now
march_to _the_sea I think the problem is that as cheerleaders we work really really hard on stunts and the word trick kinda diminishes that. Cheerleaders are also really often underestimated and it sucks because it takes a lot of strength and effort.
All it really takes is balance and practice. That’s it. When you know it, it ends up being really fun and it’ll make you want to try harder stunts. I love competitive cheer. It’s so fun
I feel the name "cheerleaders" is kind of diminishing for what they actually do. Not diminishing, but when I hear the word cheerleaders, I think of girls with pompoms doing a few jumps. These guys don't just do jumps!!! They do very difficult, very fast, super demanding stunts for a long time and always being perfect and smiling!!! The endurance they have is staggering!! I'm always amazed by what they are capable of doing.
Former dancer and gymnast here. Always wanted to be a cheerleader, but here in Alabama our squads don't compete like this, and cheerleading was a popularity contest. I ended up working as a choreographer for young cheer squads and loved every single second. I can never decide who amazes me more- the flyers with hyperflexibility, superhuman balance, and unreal core strength.....or the bases who can elevate a whole person 6 feet or more above the ground, balancing them on 1 foot, supporting them through turns, walkovers, needles, saltos, and any other feats of athleticism. The amount of focus, dedication, practice, and trust is just mind boggling. Anyone who thinks competitive cheer "isn't a sport" needs to watch videos like these.
For some reason, I’m small but is a base. I keep frickin dropping the person cuz they’re so *BIG!* I asked my teacher to be a flyer but she said, “No~”
The trust that cheerleading gives you is unbelievable like I could hate you but let you throw me in the air and I could hate you and still catch you cause the injury that could be caused is soo bad I mean these people are so talented and I'm jealous but I do cheer so I know that if I keep trying I could get alot better xx
And the fact that people have the audacity to say that cheer isn’t a sport. I haven’t cheered a day in my life, but lifts in dance are hella hard because everyone has to cooperate and help out. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to have to hold onto a flyer while they do all of this crazy shii in the air
