I'm addicted to watching these dives but this is the kind of thing that frustrates me, never knowing the answer to what was seen, whether it's something really odd like this or something more mundane like they aren't sure the name of a fish. I wish they had a section of their website that showed a few pics of the most interesting things seen on each dive and a explanation of what it was, or what the scientists think it might have been.

Does anyone remember Jacques Costeau? I grew up watching his show, and wanted so badly to be an oceanographer. Even took all the oceanographic classes I could take in middle school. But my parents couldn't afford college for it, and told me it wasn't practical. Ugh.

Okay here's a fact,. It has been historically documented that numerous civilizations have rose up to importance and then collapsed for one reason or another whether it was natural disaster whether it was invasion from another country,. So it is possible if not more than likely that there have been numerous civilizations over thousands of years far longer than we even suspect with potential technology that could have rivaled or even surpassed Rome maybe even as far as the Middle ages
@notcherbane3218
@notcherbane3218 Год назад
One of these advanced civilizations could have Rose to importance have technology close to that of the 15th or 16th century or even more advanced and then a giant earthquake or a volcano or a tsunami could have wiped out that Civilization or five or six years severe drought and then all that technology would have been lost. I would be willing to bet that there are civilizations that have been in existence thousands of years before Samaria or Babylonia. But died off with no record left of their have even existenced.

Have dove Yonaguni twice and it really is awesome. But IMO if you get the chance to go do so around February and get a chance to swim when the hammerheads show up there for breeding. Even if you end up thinking the monolith there is just "natural" the chance to free dive with so many hammerheads was epic! To be fair first year I went I felt like I was diving over a pyramid, second year I was a bit more skeptical seeing similar rock formations on the island. Still lean more towards "lost civilization" though!
