Unbelievable find - we seriously can't believe we found this on our horse ride. Riding in the Cedars in Northern Arizona is beautiful and especially in Fall. Time with Blake is the best and we love riding together.

Now that is what owning a horse is all about. I spent 35 years riding in the Shawnee National Forrest in Southern Illinois. Camped on every weekend in the summer I had off from work. Nothing in God's creation is more wonderful than a good horse and miles to ride with friends. Good food at the campfire that night. I surly miss it now that I have gotten too old and crimpled up to go anymore. (75)

When my 1st Norwegian Fjord was bred, spring ‘88, brought her home Oct’88, due in June’89. I hitched her up & drove her between 15 - 20 miles each week. I was new to driving & she was going on 4 & needed miles. It was good for both of us. My last drive was the town Memorial Day Parade, she was awesome! I had her shoes pulled & 3 weeks later, she had a beautiful filly, without any complications. From the day the foal was born I started handling her, by the end of the 1st week I could separate them for 5-10 minutes, within sight & out of sight. By 2 wks old I could take the mom away for 15-20 minutes, ground driving & training. By six weeks I could take mom out on the road & drive, do ring work & was ready for our first show. I brought 4-H kids along to stay w/baby & after she had a chance to nurse, then I would go into my class. Both handled the show like troopers, no talking back & forth, both content with their respective situation. I even have a picture of the foal napping on the ground, western hat over her eyes & counting Z’s!! We even won some classes! The foal had never trailered & walked right on. It was a very memorable day, one of many in the 25 yrs I was blessed to have my 1st Fjord & those I’ve had since. I love that you use time & patience in your training, building trust & confidence with each new day. You end up with some beautiful horses, that have a good head on their shoulders & will bring much joy & happiness to their new owners. Thank you for sharing your farm life with us.

I had a roan Tennessee walker with the prettiest white main & tail. I got him from a guy my grandpa knew from work. He had so many burs in his hair. I used wd40 to remove them. Then gave him a bath and shampoo. He was my 1st horse, 15 years old, and wind broke. He ended up back where I got him. Then I got a bay thoroughbred.

That would be 😊a good video to Blake and a friend do a night out. I did a weekend excursion in 1997 trekking around countryside where there was open fields and no fences. Goal was to camp at a lake. Packed a pup tent, sleeping beg in a tube pack sack. Tied it on behind me. Had an Australian outback slicker. Packed a bit of food that didn’t need cooking. It was last weekend in August, very hot hot! Had a few close calls. Big mistake, should have gone with someone. Lesson learned. Enjoyed the video. 🙌🏼🤠🐴🍁

mmmm I think many were incorrect on her breeding. Not saying that I am a know it all, but I have watched endless videos of Tenn Walkers and even though I have never been around one in person I did get the knack for seeing the gait. When she as in the round pen, I questioned if she was indeed a Tenn Walker as I did not see any gait. Now here today we have Alan tell us she is NOT a Walker, but a Quarter/Thoroughbred cross. Learning to pick up on a gaited horse takes some practice. With her breeding, someone who likes to maybe jump or go fast and also be less hotblooded than a full Thoroughbred would probably like this girl.

Her horse was a Poco Bueno. She sure loved that horse. Blake, have you tried WD-40 to remove the burrs? Get a big comb to use with it. Works good. The desert sure was pretty, but you could have left the rattlesnake out! Ha! Thanks again for the ride. Enjoyed it.

Good to see you here again, don't know why, but your channel hasn't come up on my RU-vid lately.. but I enjoy your videos.. Just so you know, you can't tell the age of a rattle snake by the number of rattles it has. Each time the snake sheds its skin, it gets a new rattle. They can shed several times a year. Just FYI.. God Bless

ah ha, answer to a comment I posted the day you and Blake first put her in the round pen. I didn't see a gait that day and said so. So now we know she is an appendix Quarter/Thoroughbred. No wonder I didn't see any gait! I love how your dog(s) like to go with you. Hope your bring water and maybe one of those soft water bowls you can stick in your pocket or in saddle bag if you have them. I am NOT saying that you are being unkind to Jasper on this ride, just wondering if you bring water for the dogs when they do go with you. I am sure you most probably have water in the truck when you return to it. Please don't think I am being critical, as I am just wondering. Can't help it, I have raised dogs most of my life and also had horses, so even now that I don't do either anymore I still love dogs and horses over any other animal.

That little canyon that Blake is wanting to camp in, looks in the video, as a dry creek bed. You never want to camp in a dry creek bed. It’s very dangerous n a lot of people have been killed that way. It may b dry there but if it’s raining in the mountains the water will start to flow n you can get washed away n drowned.

Twins is high risk for mom and the foals. Twin foals are usually born premature and don't have a high survival rate. Usually during a preg check the vet pinches one off if they find a mare to be in foal with twins. We used to have a horse that could have been a twin assuming the vet let the mare keep both foals.

Rattle snakes . Tail "buttons" occur each time a snake sheds. So if a snake has feed well throughout the year they may shed more then once. Number of buttons is not a good way to tell a snakes age..
@daemonember
@daemonember Год назад
You can't age a rattlesnake by the tail. They gain a button when they shed. They can also break buttons off. A snake may shed more than once a year. They are also born with a button. They grow by the food supply a well fed snake is going to grow faster than one that gets less frequent meals. The faster they grow the more they shed and gain buttons.
