I used to go to Barrett Jackson every year with a rich car-collector boss. Yes, there are cheap cars. But most of them are pigs with lipstick on them. Cosmetic restorations for suckers. Never go with a checkbook without a good mechanic. My boss finally learned that after a couple of burns. There is a lot of money in selling a beater with nice paint and making a profit. Be careful.

I don't understand why they aren't listing the miles? That's a huge deal on a vehicle. I think I still have a pic on my phone from a BJ auction with a 79 Trans Am with like 7 miles on or it or something ridiculous that sold for $179k. I've dreamed of going to Meecum or BJ and buying my dream car and then driving it home but I really want to be able to drive the car and climb underneath it and have time to really inspect it.

Money is on boomer and Gen X nostalgia - 60's and early 70's stuff for the boomers (I graduated high school in 1969...), and late 70's into the 80's for the Gen X gang.......

These so called car guys , mistaking 68-69 GTO's for 70 , and calling Pontiac "SNOWFLAKES" HONEYCOMB'S, is almost unforgivable.

LMAO "P*rn Star Parking." We had that at my high school! You had to pay for parking in the front 2 rows, but they'd sell as many as they could. So buying a parking pass didn't necessarily mean you'd get a spot. I'd pull up at the crack of dawn playing music with my friends eating McDonald's sausage egg and cheese biscuits. 😂

@1:51, In addition to all the sellers fees, Barrett Jackson charges $150.00 to take your car through an on-site, automated car wash. The auction owners laugh all the way to the bank. @4:02, he states that THEY took the keys so prospective buyers don't know the mileage on the vehicle,. In fact the 'sticker' reveals that the car being sold might not be emissions compliant. This means you might not be able to even REGISTER OR DRIVE the car you just purchased, in your home state. I'd think Barrett Jackson would provide EVERYONE with free alcohol, or even topless dancers in some areas. Liquored-up people will often make really STUPID decisions.

Unless you had something really special, I would avoid Barret-Jackson or any other "specialist" auction. Too risky and far too expensive.For me, the 72/73 Riviera Boatail is my dream car, but they are well outside what I can afford now as they are getting pretty rare.

The mileage on these older cars do not matter. They are legally exempt from mileage reporting. Unless the miles age someway other than normal the odometer is irrevelant. A rebuilder could set the odometer to read anything he wants, perfectly legal, totally unverifiable. That's why miles aren't announced.

Courtesy dictate’s you might want to have the owner’s permission. I can’t imagine walking up to your car, without your knowledge and just start opening it’s doors and popping the hood…..or what ever the hell you did to get “bit.” And I think, looking back, you probably agree……I hope so.

Smart money right now would be a 2nd gen clean Bronco at a decent price. Money is sky rocketing on them and they are a super good truck, I've had a few of them and always made money. They only made them for 2 years. A buddy bought one a 78 Free Wheeling a few years ago, nice and clean. He dropped a coyote in it and when done he had a little over $50k in it and sold it for $126 k. Now that truck would pull another $20k easy

Barret Jackson sounds like a horrible deal. $1,200+8%. That is way too high unless you have a car that you know will have a bidding war vs selling on your own. Which I imagine will only happen on very rare cars. Not listing mileage is a scam, that makes no sense.

I think a lot of kids who grew up in the 80's had one of those Honda ATC 3 wheelers. I know we had one and it was fun and dangerous. LOL no a days that crap don't fly.

CTS V !!! Am glad you got rid of a ford to jump on a GM Cadillac CTS V . My son had a 2012 cts v 6.2 6 speed car was amazing but got stolen and was not recovered .

The 3000 GT VR4 is a dangerous car, you think you're doing 40 or 50 feeling wise when your actually doing 80. I had to sell mine before I lost my license!

Business which has the reputation of shadiness. I have experienced it personally. I’d sure like you to know what an honest person you come across as. Good, bad or ugly, you tell it all.

A lot of pigs with lipstick at Barrett Jackson. Professionals get cheap cars, put a quick cosmetic restoration on them and dump them at that auction. It has really turned into a zoo, with the spectators really being what it is for. The auction is a show for them, not a venue for serious car buyers. There are three other much more serious auctions around Phoenix that week. Go there to buy cars. Not to say BJ isn't fun with a lot of unusual cars to look at. But it's a crowded zoo and if you aren't a mechanic and body man, you can get screwed.

I had a customer some 25 yrs ago that I went to go do some work for the wife's mother. She was an older lady and need a bunch of work done around her house, one of them being a new garage door. She hands me some keys and says you'll need to pull the car out. I'm thinking some older K car or something but then looking at keys with a ???? I open the door to see a minty all original single owner JUDGE. I nearly shit myself and was petrified as it was tight in there. Then she say take her for a ride, she's all covered as it will do her good. I tried for months to work a deal on her hat made sense to me. Her husband bought it new and had passed quite some time back. 21k on the dial she ended going to auction. I had advised against it as the auction wasn't right for the car. After it was all said and done they apologized immensely to me saying they should of listened. Hindsight is usually 20/20 and as they said it shouldn't of only been about the money as I had done so much work for both households and always priced them super well. I think they noticed that had ended

Nx1600 was the turd. The nx2000 had the same engine as the early SE-R sentras. Buy a clean nx2000.

Btw, that 64 Lincoln Continental door you opened, that was my car. I sold it and new owner put car in BJ. Hate to tell you my man, if you walked up and opened doors to my car unannounced or you don’t ask the owner, you’d have a problem with me and most collector owners.

mecum is better, Barret is a bunch of snobs, the owners act like they are too good for everybody except their rich friends. Been to a dozen mecums and half as many barrets, mecum is a better experience, and more cars. Everything from no touching cars at barret to nobody on stage is a joke. At mecum you can open doors and sit in 100 thousand dollar cars, open the hood, etc.

Of course you got reprimanded for opening the chrome door handle on a super clean continental that’s about to be run through auction… there are special cars there where condition is everything, not just drug dealer special mustangs lol. All love for you just hate that cobra sorry 😂and as small as opening that door is, think about how many times the owner had to polish the fingerprints off that thing lol

10:10 is a Pontiac Citation, not a Chevette.

So I usually only see the Shelby version of this car...I realize it's not quite the same, but they're close in performance from what I've seen. Depending on what it actually has under the hood, it seems to me that your Mustang should be worth more like 60-70k for sure, not the 30k range and I would think to see it possibly get up to the 80s or higher - who knows...but I would think you should at least be able to make a small profit on it 🙂🙂

At least in Scottsdale I found numerous hoses outside some tents to fill a bucket with and dampen a towel. You gotta search around a bit and ask question.
