You have just witnessed a small sample of the flexibility in her voice. The PHENOMENAL So Hyang's vocal range is RIDICULOUS, and her breath control is INSANE. This event was in 2015, when she was 37 years old. Trust and believe, in 2024, at 46 years old, not only is So Hyang aging in reverse, but she sounds better than ever, if that's even possible. Her voice is a finely tuned instrument. At the start of her career in 1996, some people dubbed her the Korean Mariah Carey. That comparison ceased to exist decades ago. So Hyang is next level GREAT!! 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' was written by Paul Simon in 1969 and recorded in 1970 by he and his singer partner Art Garfunkel (folk duo Simon & Garfunkel). Over the years, this song has been covered by numerous artists, including Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley.
So Hyang is a devout Christian and gospel singer from South Korea. In her early 20's and newly married, she was diagnosed with early stage uterine cancer, which left her unable to have children. After being completely healed by God and her doctors, So Hyang's goal has been to use her voice to bring comfort to people who are experiencing difficult times. She IS NOT motivated by either money or fame, and she has rejected numerous offers from major record labels. In addition to being a published author of several fiction books, she lectures about singing and vocal techniques at a South Korea university.
I am just one of many World Wide Fans of SoHyang. Followed for many years now and in my 71 years I have not any better then her, not even the Fabulous Whitney. She is a woman of Great Faith and Character who sings to ease suffering of those in anguish ! She has politely,turned down many recording Companies, including the 3 biggest, Sony was the latest ! Kim Sohyang began as a Gospel singer but can sing any genre. She overcame cancer early in her adulthood. For a while she was called the Korean Mariah Carey, but that is really not fair -- Sohyang is so elite she should not be compared to anyone. Imo she is best in the world -- even better than Whitney (and i never thought i would say anyone is better than Whitney) -- Sohyang's heart and feel are unbeatable and her vocal agility is as good as anyone. She sings out of love and to comfort people and is not really that interested in fame or money. She has degrees in music and does much of her own arrangements.
