Let me help: Who is Dimash? From Kazakhstan, beginning his singing career at age 5 (he's 29 now), Dimash was accepted into the most distinguished music academy in his country. His range extends from the top of the bass register to the highest notes of the coloratura soprano and whistle register. His first digital music album "ID" went platinum in only 37 seconds after release, and 3x platinum in only one hour, and 5x platinum in only one day on Chinese music platforms In December 2019, he made his US debut in New York at the Barclays Center. Dears (those he calls his fans) traveled from 68 different countries, 43 states & 2 US territories, and was sold out. Now writing his Doctoral thesis for a PhD in Musicology/ Composing, received all his degrees with honors while simultaneously filling arenas and maintaining his performing career, a first! He has a bachelors degree in vocals, a master's degree in composition and is about to complete his PhD in musicology this year. Dimash sings in 14 languages, plays 7+ musical instruments, is a composer, an amazing vocalist, patriot, philanthropist and, despite his popularity and talent, is a very warm and humble person. Dimash 2023-Vocal range: Growls (vocal fry): G0-G1 Vocal Fry: G#1 - D2 Chest voice: E2-C#5 Mixed voice: D5-C6 Head voice: C#6 - F#6 Whistle: E7-D8 Natural range: E2 - F#6 4.2 octaves *Full range: G0 - D8 7.7 octaves To put it in context: He sings lower than bass in Opera. The lowest note is usually C2....and higher longer sustained whistle note. Total Dimash range is G0-D8. By the way, a D8 is a couple of keys past the end of a piano.

Another Dear probably said this already but just in case! Igor Krutoy (the bald guy on the piano) is a world-renowned Russian Composer, who won medals from the Russian government, and retired years ago. He saw Dimash sing and came out of retirement solely to write songs for him. You’ll see them on stage together a lot. And you’ll hear Dimash pay his respects to Igor, if you see him talking after a performance. he’ll direct the audience attention to Igor, not himself. It’s really sweet. this guy is so humble.

Some things that make Dimash a different singer are his absolute pitch and the ability to perceive and reproduce microtonalities (which currently reach 32 semitones and which is not a common scale in the West, which uses the well-tempered scale of 7 tones and 5 semitones ). He is also a phenomenal composer and arranger, a fact that complements his singing, as everything that needs to be done is already built inside his mind!

Dimash graduated from the University of the Arts in piano, classical, contemporary and jazz singing, has a master's degree in composition, plays seven musical instruments and is currently completing his doctorate in musicology.

So many other singers have put in the time and effort to study and practice to achieve a certain level of singing. Dimash already had his mind made up at a very tender age to almost make music a part of his DNA. Not only training his voice but to studying the dynamics of music. He devoted time and energy and sacrificed his adolescent years for music. He made a statement during an interview that if you were to cut open his heart you would see music. Even now, he says that he does vocal training for 3-5 hours a day every day. He is music and music is his him. He also stated that since the age of 2, he has never wanted to do anything but sing. Yes - Dimash's voice is an instrument, and like any classically trained professional musician, he develops and trains and enhances every element of it - to it's maximum potential. But you are correct; it's his brain also. Dimash has been training ALL of his instrument - daily - for almost 25 years now. Since the age of 5 formally, but before this as well. I hear that he does 3 hours of vocal exercises daily, but people around him comment that Dimash 'lives' music. That he is singing and humming and creating music 24/7. No doubt in his sleep as well! An Italian classical { Operatic } vocal coach, on first hearing Dimash; described him as a 'War General'! Meaning that he marshalls ALL of his resources to attack every nuance of every note and every pause between with enormous intentionality and precision. In fact; Dimash trains his instrument like a Gold Standard Olympian. He also swims as much as he can - to maintain and expand his lung capacity { as we witness here! } and does martial arts for core body strength. So - yes, he is very serious about his craft! His parents are both well regarded Kazak singers. His mother has a high very bright soprano voice, and it's my belief he was already training his ear to perfect pitch in the womb! { Indeed, much neuro-developmental research supports this theory }. His stage presence and personal charisma are inate - but also professionally developed. Not the least as he has been up on stage with his parents from a very early age, but also via his training in Operatic and Musical Theatre productions. 😊 # As to this particular song / production > You will see that Dimash often has humanitarian themes in his music. In Stranger he uses his many voices to tell the story of the plight of burgeoing numbers of Displaced People around ther world, forced from their homes by various disasters / trauma's and having to start again - with nothing - as Strangers in Strange Lands. While there are amazing singers that have existed in the past and alive now there has never been an artist as talented, as in control or as consummate a performer as Dimash. Dimash has been called the best voice in the world and that's quite true. I think there's not much to dispute but rather how much being recognized and appreciated he will be globally. we all know in this world, pop music is always the most popular music regardless of singing talents. Dimash, like many great singers, could go all pop but instead choosing to be the type of singer he is now. of course pop music is included in his music but not the only type. thanks to the internet, people around the world are able to reach out and listen to all kinds of music they would never do if without the internet.

Yes Dimash has his fingerprints in what ever he performs. The use of the Kazakh instrument "Kobyz" was his suggestion. (2 strings, no frets) . extremely ancient, and so beautiful.

I’d love for you to react to his live performance of ‘Know’(New Wave 2019) as well as his vocalise version of the same song(Arnau concert in Kiev), I think you’d find the contrast interesting. (He does the vocalise differently at all his concerts btw)

Thanks for all The teaching in your reaction. I always say that when all singing handbooks finish is when Dimash’s one starts. At my 58 years of age, it is the first time I am in absolute love with a singer’s voice. I flew to Turkey to see him Live and it was a Once in a live time experience!! Such an incredible human being as well. He had scheduled his concert at an open stadium and it turned out to be a 100% storming day. 48 hours before the concert, (just when I thought I had flew all the the way to Turkey for nothing), he moved the concert to the opposite side of the city to perform in a huge conference center and put free shuttles from the old place to the new one for those who needed transport or didn’t know about the change. He waited for them for an hour until the last shuttle arrived. Then, during the concert, he listened to a very good voice singing in Kazakh one of his songs and invited her to perform with him on stage. He also sang part of a song with the baby of one of his dears, in his arms. We love the whole Dimash package. Such a humble human being! A model to be followed by new generations. ❤ from Spain 🇪🇸
