(Unbelievably Thoughtful Reaction To) Megadeth- Dystopia 

This album is fantastic and Dave Mustaine said the next album is going to be even heavier. I can't wait! Bless Dave and may he win his battle with cancer!

The Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro had just joined the band in 2015 to record this album. He is still in Megadeth. Kiko is a virtuoso when it comes to guitar playing. One of the best and most technical guitarist currently in the world of metal. He makes us Brazilians very proud - Kiko has had such a beautiful career, especially in his old band called Angra. Check him in the Megadeth song Conquer or Die and you’ll see how special of a musician he is!

Dystopia was the first Megadeth album I listened to, actually the first Metal album I have listened to. This album made me a metalhead 😁 ...and yes I know I am young

This is the song that finally earned Dave a Grammy. The lyrics really add that extra special thing that I absolutely love.

This song won best metal performance in 2016 for the Grammys. It’s a great song! I’m so hyped about their new record because their newest drummer Dirk is a god. Also his voice is lower now because he got surgery in like 2012 to put metal plates in his neck because of all his headbanging, so they drop to D tuning now.

Before Megadeth released this album, Guitarist Chris Broderick and drummer Shawn Drover left the band after rumors of a reunion of the "Rust in Peace" lineup were going around. Dave , with input from David Ellefson, recruited Guitarist Kiko Loureiro from the Brazillian metal band Angra. Dave also recruited Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler to perform the drum tracks on this album. The band gelled really well and the album Dystopia became a Grammy award winning song (the whole album rocks as well). Chris Adler at the time was splitting his time between Megadeth and Lamb of God and was drumming for both bands. He ended up having to leave Megadeth due to his obligations to Lamb of God but recommended to Dave the drummer Dirk Verbeuren. Chris said that Dirk was the only drummer he would recommend that could play as well or better than he could. Dirk currently fills the drum throne in Megadeth. Megadeth is currently firing on all cylinders!

dystopia picks up right where countdown left off. with even more urgency. like dave saying "i told you so".

hahaha,,,you were about to talk right after Kiko's fluid solo ended around 4:20 and then you got hit with Mustaine's gritty dissonant bend at the start of his solo and the the words got punched right out of your mouth. That was funny!!!

You talk about this band, natural progression....this is one of the bands that had grade A metal from the begining because they are one of the best

the guitar player now is Kiko he is from brazil and he uses to play in a band call Angra (check them out the really good band) and in my own opinion he is the best guitar player Megadeth have since Martin Freman left the band

This is a great album. Underrated. (In regards to the rest of their catalog) In my opinion it ranks right up there with Countdown to Extinction. Kiko is a beast on guitar!

Dirk did not drum on the studio release (Adler did; Adler recommended Dirk) .. To really appreciate Dirk, listen to him with Jeff Loomis on Escape Velocity .. Then followup that with Reverie For Eternity to experience Loomis' composition versatility ..

Finally got Dave his damn Grammy! Well deserved from about 30 fuckin’ years ago! Better late than never. Fuck the Grammy’s anyway! Keep em’ comin’ Dave!

You need to go back to Killing is my Business and Business is Good. You have to see that after he left Metallica he just wanted to show how fast and crazy his riffs were. Go start at the VERY beginning.

Part of the accidental genius of being dysfunctional drug users, former drug users, and very powerful personalities, is the constant band line-up changes which has not been the same for more than a few consecutive albums. All members have come and gone except Mustaine. This gives the band a constant fresh revolving door of new talent with fresh perspectives under the same leadership, vision, and lyrical genius.

The opening of this reminds me of Iron Maiden.

What I love about Kiko, is there's a little bit of the Friedman type guitar bends in his style. So the new stuff sometimes gives a vintage megadeth vibe.

I've had this album since it came out but have never listened to this song on a phone or tablet until now. Listening to it now on such a low quality audio appliance, I've picked up something I never noticed before...the tail end guitar harmonies section sounds very similar to early Metallica - perhaps around Ride the Lightning which I know Dave wrote part of and probably had sonic influence on the rest. Anyone else notice it?

I've been listening to Megadeth since the mid 80s. They've always been spot on about what's going on here and around the world. Been thinking about how great it would be to have a president from a metal band.
