I was with you to the end Steffy! Really enjoyed the video. My very first DP was a cheap Amazon DSA. I really struggled and quickly moved onto DAC and poured glue 🤣. I’m sure there are better quality DSA out there and this one looks like it fits the bill! You are right that it is much less forgiving than poured glue- moving drills about is very difficult if they need repositioning. Interested to see how you get on. The image is beautiful. Jonathan xx

Thanks my friend! Oh goodness I am honestly scared but I need to try it! To find out for myself, get my opinion on it, like I said I don’t like judging or giving an opinion before I haven’t tried something, and this company has a good reputation with the quality of the DSA’s they make, so crossing fingers! 😊 My mom actually just wants to help me start it. I said she can helo me with the kitting up! That will be our project this weekend! I’ll definitely disclose my thoughts and experience with it. But yes, I’ve heard there’s some bad ones out there that just lands in the trash. 🙈 Hugs! xx ❤️

On top of Somé's comment... I've done two of Oh So Crafty's DSA canvasses. They were excellent quality, but.... I single placed my butt off to get my nice placement. Be very careful of the multi-placing you're going to do. You'll be able to move diamonds around a little bit, but not like with poured glue. Enjoy 💎

Thanks for that tip my friend, that’s what I needed to know before starting (and ruining) this beauty. Aah goodness, my mom wanted to try a tiny bit too but as much as I love my mom her drill placing is not that great! 🤭🙈 Maybe I should rather just let her watch lol. And thanks for saying you loved yours from Oh So Crafty, I can see and feel it’s fantastic quality, I’ll be careful though, xx 🤗❤️❤️

If your ears are ringing... It's me screaming "nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" at my screen.... I'm in two minds about DSA. There are good quality ones - like Sparkle Queen Creates and Oh So Crafty - but you also get horrible ones, and I've had both. I won't not buy from a company just because it is DSA. But as always, I believe you should try things for yourself and make up your own mind. Tip for working on your DSA canvas: try to keep the movement of the canvas at a minimum (it helps if you keep it mostly rolled up until you work on it, minimises the creases in the cover paper and prevents rivers).

Thank you my friend! That is great to hear you have had good experiences with the company’s DSA’s. I always said I don’t like to give an opinion on something I haven’t worked before, so this is my chance, and the quality of everything looks amazing! That is one of the clearest symbols and most beautiful rendering I’ve seen, well the bit I could peel off hehe. And apologies for that horrifying moment where I unknowingly peeled off a bit of the adhesive! 😂🙈 I think I fixed it good enough, it won’t even show once I put drills in there and my magnetic frame. Phew. Thank you, that’s great tips, and I might ask you for some more advice if I struggle hehe. Tfs the info, yes I’ll do that, keep it rolled up, the parts I’m not working on anyways. xx 🤗❤️❤️

Hehe I have to giggle at your very good description of it! 🤭🙈 It is! 😱 Yes, we’ll work on it together! I am curious now to get the full experience of working with a DSA (double sided adhesive) as well, and the part of the painting I could see beneath the cover paper I peeled off, the rendering looks amazing and I actually want to start with that! 😍 I am very impressed with the quality of everything, it’s just I’m nervous abouth that thin film of glue but I’m all for a challenge! 😁 xx 🤗❤️❤️

🤗 Thanks my friend, I am both excited and nervous to work on it, but I just need to be careful and I do want to multiplace as there’s huge colour block areas, I would die of single placing, but, I will stick to my smaller plastic well-known to work with multiplacers as I understand I can’t move the drills around too much once placed. 🙈 I’ll definitely start this on video, think it will be fun and informative. xx ❤️❤️

I enjoyed your video and first time experience with double sided adhesive. I am currently working on my first one, and wish that there had been explicit instructions included. I began diamond painting in November when my husband passed away and my life and mind thrown into chaos. It is extremely therapeutic and allows me to focus my mind away from the trauma of that day. I have completed quite a few round drill, poured glue paintings, and will be trying square drills soon. Your video was very interesting.

You are very sweet, thank you for your comment, it made me smile. Because I can relate to so much and it always makes me feel less alone. I also started diamond painting after my dad passed, I had to escape reality as my mind wouldn’t accept reality. I started with round poured glue, then squares, then mystery kits (these I really love!) and then I did my first cross stitch conversion. Now it’s my first DSA painting. I agree, that’s why I kept referring back to the leaflets. I do wish it would’ve warned me don’t peel off the adhesive together with the cover paper! But now I know. Squares have their pro’s and con’s, but I do think the pro’s outweigh the con’s. Start with poured glue squares so that you can push the drills around if they don’t align straight the first time. But the end result, the smooth feeling, the peefect clicking in of the drills, no to very little gapping, the details square paintings give as a result is very satisfactory. Let me know what you think once you’ve started ❤️ I am sorry for your loss, here you are never alone, you can reach out anytime and it helps to know others in the community are understanding and have maybe gone through the same. Sending you a big hug. You still need a lot of time, it’s been since October 2021 for me and I landed in hospital 2 weeks ago. When you feel up to it, you are welcome to listen to my previous video and WIP and chat where I talk about it openly. I’ve started crying less, having less emotional outbursts and depressive dark thoughts, but still not entirely gone. It takes time. xx ❤️❤️

I have glued drills down with the teeniest drop of Art Glitter Glue in areas where the adhesive was missing. It worked just fine. Maybe you can do that. I literally put a drop on my finger tip and wiped off most of it and then pressed the drill onto my finger then onto the canvas. Don’t know if that’s a big no-no but it did work.

Thank you so much for that tip! 😃❤️ I am going to note this, as I am a complete newbie with DSA. That will probably help with popping drills as well? I am quite a hard placer, and not sure if it’s due to that, but I am sometimes getting a popping drill. 🙇🏼‍♀️ xx

For canvases with popping off drills, I seal the canvas when I’m finished. I use polycrylic. So far I’ve had to seal 2 canvases and both were crystal canvasses.

Thank you for saying that. I got a sealant eay back in case of an emergency, but I later heard it’s not the best one, so I’ll get another one and will have to seal this. As there’s no AB’s and they’re not resin drills I don’t think I have to worry about dulling the sparkle. It’s better to have the drills secured and sealed. Thank you for the advice. This canvas is so big it’s going to take time for me to get to that point of sealing it, but once I do, I will show it ❤️ xx

I used Minwax Polycrylic. Clear Gloss. Popping drills is SO annoying. Can’t wait to see your finished painting 😃

I understand why she splits drills and Canvas. Since the canvas could be damaged of the 2 were combined.

My drills and canvas from Oh So Crafty have always been packed in the same box, without damage. I think this was just split because of the size of the package with all the drills

Yes that makes sense, I’ve had big canvases with the drills bunched inside by other companies, and the canvas showed the dents, and with this fine adhesive which is not poured glue that you can just lie flat and leave to straighten, it’ll be more damaging, so I do like this, the canvas was flawless (before I peeled some of the ashesive off on account of my own lack of knowledge of double sided ashesive canvases, goodness! 🤦🏼‍♀️) Very valid point, tfs! 🤗❤️ xx

I’m going to unbox some accessories next to help me with kitting these 1000’s of baggies up faster heehee, and then we’re going to start working on it and I’ll probably do a kitting up and wip and chat. This is all first experiences for me with a DSA kit (double sided adhesive) 😍🙈 xx
