My GBA SP is the old front light version if you didn't notice! The new AGS 101's are MUCH brighter, and if anything maybe even brighter than this fake. :)
Game Box it's bummer did not play GB and GBC in overal not a bad product if you are searching for cheap solution to play GBA Games. Did review very longtime from FunnyPlaying awesome video like always ;)
Already bought one about 4 months back Brandon, from what I've seen in RU-vid it does use the exact same shell as a real gba sp and you can buy a shell and it'll fit perfectly. Also be careful with those shoulder buttons my left shoulder button stopped working period and it feels like nothing is inside it anymore.
That fake GBA SP is like the Dendy (a Famicom that is exclusive from Russia) of the Game Boy Advance SP. Also, the screen you have on your original GBA SP has a frontlight, but there are some models of the SP that has a backlight and the model number is called AGS-101.
Something nice about this console (well, at least I think so), is that when it's getting really low on power (3-5 minutes remaining) the screen contrast starts to fade, and horizontal lines begin moving up and down on the screen, like a final alert. The original GBA SP doesn't do this; the red light can last for a really long time and you'll never be able to tell down to the last minute how long you actually have. That irritates me. I know, it's not something lots of people will enjoy, a display that glitches out when it gets low on power, but it's something I appreciate. After all, if it only does this on the last 1% of power, it's not a big issue.
a stiff volume button? looks like they improved over the original design :P i always hated how i would randomly max out the volume on accident with the SP.
The older ones, yeah. Not anymore though. I wish I'd gotten one back in those days. They had SD card slots and everything and could play different types of games, and even watch movies and listen to music and connect to your TV. This newer clone is MUCH more limited like the original.
Fun fact, this item USED to have an SD card slot. They changed the functionality years ago; it had built-in games, TV connection, and an SD card slot all together with cartridge capability. I guess they changed it to avoid copyright, not sure.
I guarantee that whoever made it just bulk bought a bunch of shells for it. The way the speaker holes aren't all the same size for example, is super common on after-market reshells. I bought a gold Zelda shell for my SP, and it was exactly the same way. Hell, even the sticker on the lid was loose like it was in this video (I ended up having to carefully glue it back on). But that'd be why it's almost identical to the real SP. The shell was specifically made FOR a real SP to begin with. Honestly, even the stiff cartridge slot is the same as my reshell. I had to actually shave down some of the plastic inside the cartridge slot to get games to fit properly. My Everdrive GB X5 still gets stuck occasionally.
I've bought 5 of these and love them all! Plays all GBA games. Just not other gameboy games. However the sales rep I spoke with has informed me that in the future they will have one that plays all of the cartrdges. This is a steal considering used real ones are expensive, and truly in poor cosmetically conditions. These are brand-new! And basically everything down to the shell itself, is the same! Dont feel bad about buying these either, they are third party licensed now!!!
I bought my Gameboy Advance SP AGS 101 for 50 $ here in Bulgaria, second hand, perfect condition. In my opinion the fake gameboy is not worth more than 25 $
I'd say if you want to play your GBA games get one of the many various replicas out there, or better yet get a DS Lite, it's cheap, easy to find, plays your gba carts, easily hacked for you og Gameboy and Gameboy color games. The DSI works too, but needs to be hacked for GBA games.
I used to have that thing. I played it a few times and kept it in a drawer until it refused to work anymore after some months and turned into a dead brick. Not worth the money.
Hi, I am looking to purchase a gameboy advance ags 101 and was curious as to your recommendation for what I should look for and what price I should pay?
@@xyoungdipsetx - Well better than the AGS-001 anyway, about comparable to the AGS-101...but the display ratio is off on this one if that bothers some people.
@@xyoungdipsetx AGS-101 model, they were released when the first DS was already on the market, so Nintendo used some of the DS technology to give it a better screen. They're pretty expensive, though, 100+ Euro in decent condition.
Hey you should totally give a chance to the powkiddy x18 and the gpd xd plus They are almost the same but they are such a great way to emulate consoles that you should check em out
How does this screen compare to a 101? Any further info on whether the shells are the same? Wondering, if possible could swap the shell out for a real one AGS 101 consoles aren't cheap now so could be a viable option.
@KOSTANDINOS MOUZITHRAS Talking about the adapter that Nintendo released (www.google.com/search?q=gba+sp+headphone+adapter&source=lmns&bih=953&biw=1920&rlz=1CAMWDF_enUS869&hl=en&ved=2ahUKEwiU18vE6f_nAhWQlZ4KHV1aC2UQ_AUoAHoECAEQAA)
Do save games work? Also, try it with no cartridge to see if anything is built in. I noticed the screen is also larger. I didn't know there was an orange SP.
The older version had that. It could also emulate different consoles, had built-in games, and play music and videos. I think that kind's been discontinued. This one is practically no more than a Russian version of the real thing, for all intensive purposes.
@@KOSMOS1701A Darn the original one for disappearing. That thing looked great. Although, I think it might have the same internals as things like the X series and MP5/6 devices, so maybe it isn't so unique after all. But still, doing all that (especially playing the GBA games) on a GBA SP looking device would have been a nice experience.
fake sp: 1 Gameboy advance sp 101: 3 so just get an actual Gameboy advance sp but find one that has the 101 version on the bottom that has the brighter screen
If you want to try to play some Game Boy and Game Boy Color games on that fascinating thing you need to buy an EZ-Flash IV Omega cartridge and try if it works. P.S. GREAT VIDEO !!
Probably not, since the most likely reason other flash carts don't work is they require more power to run, and omega is power hungry. But I'm guessing a reflashable gba cart such as can be used with the Joey junior from bennvenn would work.
Hello bro first thanks for the video 😁and i have a question i have game boy just like in your video it's fell from my hand and it's working fine i can play games but the Light is dead what should I do please answer me 😔
It also has vibrations, like on interlaced video. And when you turn the brightness down, the Hz of the screen is also reduced. Waving your hand in front of it at lowest brightness, you can see a strobing effect.
