Them opening the puzzle cards just made me feel all types of ways. Also, I so know people like that and in a way I'm probably very similar to the owner of this unit. Lots of collectibles and history stuff. Sounds like they were really sick and trying to heal themselves through positivity and Zen. They might have had to go into something like hospice care and had to put all their stuff in storage, still hoping to walk away from the illness and being able to get all their stuff back later

The owner of the second storage unit may have died as well.... His journal - specifically "I want to recover. I will recover." and "strategies for healing" - along with his focus on positive thinking, mantras, and the crystal bible they found (most people use crystals for healing properties), leads me to believe that he was really sick or even terminally ill and trying to cure himself with holistic treatments. Or perhaps he was simply looking for some enlightenment and peace in the end. Regardless, I find it kind of sad.

My dad had those puzzle cards. He was frantic when I got some in a big bag of old unopened baseball card packs off of eBay. It’s pretty cool to see those things still around and that people are still interested. They’re pretty cool idea. But in other words this video’s awesome.

So here's how abandoned storage units work: -The storage facility leases you the unit. -In the lease it says that if you fall behind on the payments the facility can sell the contents to make up for the money you owe. -The facility CAN NOT look through the unit at any time, nor is anyone allowed to enter it until after purchasing it (though you are allowed to open the door and look inside before purchasing). -The facility sells your unit (usually auction style) and any amount OVER what you owed on the unit is then given back to you. (So if you owed $100 and the unit sells for $300, the facility gets their $100 and you get the remaining $200). -The purchaser of the unit, by law, now owns ALL of the contents of the unit. -The person who bought the unit has a set amount of time (usually 24-48 hours) to remove the contents. -The storage facility puts the unit up for open lease once more. That's the long and the short of how abandoned storage units work from someone who actually used to work as an assistant manager at a storage facility. You're welcome.
