I was also tempted to make a negative comment or a joke but realized that I was just plain jealous. Congratulations on your purchase, I'm sure you will love it for many years to come!

Hey Gary! It's life man. We all have dreams, aspirations etc...I remember seeing Neil Young on photos in music magazines back in the early 70's and saying to myself, "One day, One day...I'll have a D-45." People pursue different things for different tastes. It's all good! Have a great day!
You have that guitar now for 5 year. In the video you were unlocking the guitar case but one lol your in a hurry or excited about getting it open. This was a great video. Thanks for sharing.

I was so exited 'cause it is a Martin D-45! It plays so good and sings like a beautiful bird! Yes it's been almost 6 years now! Thank you for watching the video!
I've always bought high end brand guitars second hand. Not only are they less expensive I don't need to be too precious when playing them. And that is one beautiful guitar....congrats to you.

In this case It will be a keeper for life. Passed down to the children so I wanted a Mint Brand New Martin. I love used have several, broken in and what a sound on a used one!
I love mind, looks identical, and they sound great, one of the best sounding guitars they make.

I agree! I play it about every other day. It's so loud and pleasing to the ear. I can finger pick and get that clear articulate sound! Thanks for watching the post!
That's so beautiful and something you don't see every day lol. Wow

I just finished playing it for 3 hours or so, on and off. It's just get better with each passing day1 Thank you Eric for the kind comments and viewing this post!
@José Benito Martínez Jr. wonderful. May I ask if you think there's a tonal improvement with the d45, or d41 or 42 guitars, over the d28s or hd35? I thought you mentioned owning several different martin guitars so thought I'd ask. I'm sorry if that's a dumb question but I'm pretty new to acoustics and plan to buy one this year.

I just picked up my Custom Classic Mahogany a few days ago, and I said the exact same thing upon lifting it out of the case, "Wow, it's light!". Mine is a step up from the X-series, but nowhere near as nice as the beauty you have there. Absolutely magnificent guitar, congratulations.

So good that you have a Mahogany Custom Classic! I hope it has that very mid range Martin sound! Enjoy Jake!
Jamie Woods I have a Brazilian Rosewood Martin D-45 that I've had since I special ordered it from 1990, I just recently bought a Chinese Knock off Martin D-45 for $305.00 delivered to my front door, They look the same, I have to admit, They pretty much sound the same, $300.00 you can't go wrong.

@@nocturnal7312 I can dig that! I see no issue buying a cheap, knock off etc...it's ones's money. What ever floats our boat! I see that just like me, you have the original one made in the good ol' USA. I think that's what will always separate in our own ego, mind, possession...that we have the factory man made from Nazareth PA.
@Jose Martinez Jr. Back in 1990 I had a Brazilian Roswood Martin D-45 custom made with the "Tree of Life" on the Fretboard, Pickguard, and Bridge, I'm always in constant fear that someone will break in my home to steal it, Or, One of my musical friends might scratch, Gash it when i let them play it, These Chinese D-45's are pretty spot on,

What always strikes me about the d 45's is they always seem to sound fantastic even though made with EIN and sitka. They do something extra special with those D 45's. Great choice and beautiful guitar. Don't worry about tuning. Temperature and humidity will always change tuning.

Having owned a D-18, 21, 28 and other Martin's is so true what you say. I think it it's in the wood. It has to be a better grade of wood! The sound gets better as time goes by. It was tight at the beginning now more bass response without being overwhelming. Highs not to bright!
Thanks many for sharing your magic moment with us . enjoy!!

Wow ... A Martin D-45. What can anyone say. Its the acoustic guitar all others strive to be. Congrats Jose! and btw ... thank you for letting us see that. I can't speak for anyone else .. but I got a euphoric rush from watching that.

It's an experience, a rush, expectation like...well ..of a your dream guitar home at last! I hope you also share with all of us an unboxing of your new( used ) guitar for all of us to enjoy with you as well! All the best!
I bought a guitar at a yard sale this summer for $25. I had never heard of Martin and had no idea it was a good make. I do like the sound of it and have taught myself to play. Its smaller than the D45 in your video. The guy selling it said it was his dads that he bought in 1945 so its old but it still plays really well. You new guitar should last 100 years or more. beautiful craftsmanship.

Hello Russell! I'm so glad that you are enjoying this summers purchase on that 1945 guitar! If I understand correctly, it's a Martin you purchased? In any event goof for you! Just keep on playing it every day! I thank you for viewing my quick unboxing!
Hi José! You recently commented on a post I made on Facebook about my new j200. I've been having second thoughts and I can't stop looking at d45s. I wanted to ask you for your opinion on which guitar might be better for having just one. I can't afford both and I want to have the one that will be the most versatile
thehotsixer1 I’m sure it’s a lovely playing and sounding guitar but for me all of that abalone is over the top and much too “fussy”. Personally I prefer the look of the D-28... much more simple and in my opinion classier looking. But that’s just me... hope he has many years of enjoyment out of it.
Hey Jose I know this video is 2 years old but damn that is one fine looking Martin you got yourself. The Abalone going right round the instrument is a very nice touch. may it give you many many many many years of pleasure =)

Happy Easter Sunday! I'm watching Ben Coombs live,, great RU-vidr! And playing the D-45. I've always heard that they are the "worst" when new, very true. So much more open as the days, months and now 2 years! It's stronger with that deep bass sound if I dig in it hard! Lighter touch the highs kick in wonderfully! I hope you can have one to own and play!! Thank you for watching! Best wishes!
@ Yeah great to hear it's opened up in the 2 years you've had it. I play a Maton SRS808C, I've only had it since september last year but it's starting to open up nicely. It has a western red cedar top and it's got such a gorgeous warm sparkle in its tone. exactly what i was after in an acoustic tone. That D-45 will keep getting better and better as the years go on. I've never owned a Martin myself but It's definitely on the cards for me to have a look at them, I'm always after that next hidden gem =P Happy Easter!

@@foxhound5702 I've always wanted a Maton but I've never seen one here in the USA. Only at the annual NAMM shows in Anaheim California. So I gather you live in Australia?
Yes I do live in NSW, Austrlia. Maton are based in Melbourne, Victoria over here. They are hard to find in the US as i've repeatedly heard but if you ever come across a few of them in a music store dont hesitate to check them out. They are very likely to blow you away.... Lots of Australian musicians play Maton guitars they're very highly regarded over here. Check out Tommy Emmanuel if you want to see a Maton in action, he's been playing Maton's for the best part of 50 years and he has a signature model as well. Check out this video I linked and it'll give you a good idea of what they're all about =) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9ulAUaVGROs.html

They are beautiful. I must say. My brother bought one about ten years ago. Sadly he passed away a couple of years later. Can I ask what you paid for it? I live about three hours from the Martin factory. It's a beautiful and educational place to visit. They take you through the factory. And they have a museium. They have a music room. You can play every guitar they make. I have a Martin D35. I love it. As I know you will love your D45. They are the best of the best. An awesome sounding guitar. Let me know what you think of it. Thanks for sharing your video.
That guitar is worth the money just to look at as an ornament. It's gorgeous, what a finish. I'd love to own one of those.

It's so well built like all Martin's. This model is lavish with detail. I saved and saved for a long time and my D-45 is such a great looking guitar but more than that, it has a very beautiful sound. Thank you Mike!
There is a saying, "The worst it will ever sound, the day it was finished and ready to be shipped." Gets better with with each day. It opens up more and more.
3:05 - Wheres the strap pin? Or did they take it off before shipping and put it separately in the case?
3 года назад
Yes John Doe! Martin does NOT install the strap pin. They place it in the case box for the new guitar owner to place it on. I have never in more than 41 years and 20+ Martin guitars installed them.
My son in law is hispanic from Peru cool guy I have eight guitars all made left handed cause I'm a lefty had this wonderful experience last month I went on Amazon look at left handed guitars I this left handed telecaster for 109 dollars went it arrived I was totally amazed the sound was so good maple neck ash color body even a telecaster vintage bridge I love it great action
Congratulations. I have only even ever seen like 2 of those in real life.

Hi Mark! Taylor's are so great playability wise and that very unique Taylor sound! I met Bob Taylor at NAMM many years ago at his booth. He shared with me his journey with the sound he created. How it keeps evolving to a better and greater experience for the guitarist! The end result of his guitar building with his workers! Just a great person! Congratulations on your 914ce! Play, play and play each and every day!
Congratulations Jose! What a beautiful guitar. I wouldn't ship a sweet guitar with it in tune, I would back off a little on string tension but that's just me. I want to hear you play it!

Wow !! That is beautiful ❣❣ Congratulations !! I treated myself to a brand new OOO-42 a couple years back and it is just marvelous and sexy ❣❣ I've owned top end steel string acoustic from most of the small shop builders (except Gibson) and Martin does it best !! Although I put scgc and Collings as my top two spots. Also have a Taylor PSGA cocobolo and it is pretty as hell fire ; but it don't sound nearly as good as the OOO-42

How's the action on these, I'm thinking of getting one and I finally want a guitar that doesn't feel like I'm trying to push cheese wire through wood! So playability is essential. What about wrapping your thumb around the top for bar chords?
5 лет назад
I've had many Martin's through the years and their action from the factory is good but higher than Gibson, Guild and for sure Taylor. It's a comfortable and very playable. Bends and runs are easy right our the box. I'll let it go through the winter and see how the wood adjusts to this west coast climate. Usually no big action change. I have 45-55% humidity outside. My hand is small and I can with out problem wrap my thumb and do.thumb bar chording!!
Thanks for sharing this special moment of unboxing your new Martin D45 with us, you have done and well and congratulations to you Sir, enjoy that baby, Peace !
Such a beautiful guitar. P.s do you still have your Hummingbird ? I wanted a hummingbird but got a j45 cos I got it brand new for £1700 it's a beautiful guitar but the nitro finish marks rather easy.

Yes the Gibson Hummingbird is still here! Played it just right now! J45 are awesome slope shoulder guitars! Just look at it from this angle, "Marks, dents..scuffs...add character." Polish it and good as new! Congratulations on your new Gibson!!!
I was stoked watching the video " also a Martin owner ". When you had that one clasp unhooked I was losing my shit,, " open it open it"!!!!!! Sweet guitar and for some odd reason I knew you were gonna play an E major for your first chord. Nice guitar buddy and cheers.

Bob I flubbed it big time! But I figured it out having never owned a D45 extra latches on this case. I hope you can share with all of us your Martin!
I altered my order and had Martin install a LR bags anthem pickup system into my D-45 before they ship to my local retail for me to pickup. Do you think I needed a pickup system in the Martin D-45 or is it already plenty loud without it? Man, I can’t wait until it is ready!
4 года назад
It all depends. Are you going to use it for stage night? To record in studio? Then perhaps it's the way to go. I have Gibson's straight from the factory with LR Baggs VTC installed and they are great! I choose the Martin for that very strong booming sound and doesn't disappoint! It gets louder as I play more and I believe that as it settles with the climate, played a lot, it has opened more. In my opinion no need for electronics. All my Martins none. It's your Martin try to play one with or without a pickup system if you can. Based on that move forward! I'm happy for you!

Hi, thanks for your video. I am planning to buy a Martin however I heard from many people say the binding of Martin guitar is easy to loose and separate from the guitar. Is it really the case? What do you think?
5 лет назад
Hello! I have owned many Martin American made and several Mexican assembled ones. NEVER had had an issue with any of them! The only issue would be that the factory set-uo action can be high! That is a subjective preference. Binding no. They have a great consistency. Gibson's that's a different story. Taylor just lie Martin so well built!
José Benito Martínez Jr. Thank you for your advice. Did you humidify the guitars? I live in Hong Kong which is quite humid in some time of the year.
5 лет назад
Hello@@tubeball123! Here in California where I live is near the desert. I do need to humidify my guitars. I keep them 45-50% . High humid areas like yours it's a different challenge. You have to reduce the amount of humidity.
abc Wong I bought aD35e retro 3 months ago and I live in a humid country as well. Chucked a big bamboo charcoal inside the case hoping to reduce the humidity
Did yours come with a little leather booklet listing the complete specification?
4 года назад
No. I think 'cause it's a standard production guitar. Nothing of the sort. Case is padded extra other than that not even a extra cloth that pads the guitar like on a custom order! Still very happy!!
One day you will! It's just a cut above many. The playability, the feel of the fretboard but more important the engaging sound! Make me want to play it everyday!
