How's the performance of the ammo after eighty years in storage? Is it still reliable? Interesting video, thanks. It's interesting to see ammo made during WWII opened. The real, original stuff: the primary ammunition of the Red Army! Definitely an interesting purchase for collectors and those with historical interests. Might be just the ticket for some research and experimentation.

In my experience shooting surplus ammo, the biggest factor in reliability and consistency of rounds is the conditions they were stored in; particularly whether or not moisture or oxygen has been able to creep in and degrade primers, powder, or oxidize cases. Your mileage may vary of course, but when comparing hang fires (and outright failure for the primers to ignite) I would say that it is a legitimate concern for ammunition of this era that was stored in cardboard /waxed paper packaging and a virtual non-issue for ammunition from a recently opened air/watertight spam can. I haven’t had a chance to shoot any of this ammunition, but from first impressions it looked virtually brand new and free from any oxidation on the case or tell-tale discoloration around the primer. Thanks for asking, and I’m glad to hear you found this interesting! - Alexander

This is exactly the same ammunition that the Red Army used in World War 2. The hermetically-sealed zinc spam cans were the same used by the Imperial Russian Army in the late 19th century. I think they changed them to galvanized steel in the 1960s or '70s.
