I'm flabbergasted by how much Mil Surps have gone up in 40+ years since I bought a few. I know, the supplies are drying up, but it still shocks the heck out of me. Beautiful Gun. Glad you found one in such great shape to add to your collection. The Portuguese Military obviously took some time, care and effort when they mothballed and stored it. Kudos to their Armorer(s).
Thanks, I'm flabbergasted at home much they've gone up in the last decade...I think some of which has to do with the popularity of many of these guns in video games, just my 2 cents. Yeah, @TheMosinCrate does a great job picking out the nicest ones and definitely kudo to whomever prepped these for storage.
Thanks for the shoutout! Glad you like the rifle. Finding 937a rifles in that shape has alwaus been hard, usually it was the 937b models that were the unissued/purdy ones.
Unfortunately I missed out on these. Can you post what they sold for? I contacted MC about any future stocks of these rifles but it looks that there will not be.
Having the matching number bayonet just adds so much for the value, I'd have no problem paying the asking price considering the matching numbers and condition.
What a Great Video & Rifle! I really appreciate The Mosin Crate, my K98 was awesome as well. I Love that Bayonet, amazing. Really a Great Value! Looking forward to more videos from you!
I wanted to get one but the price was bit high for me. I already have a Russian Captured K98 and a Yugo refrub K98. Both acquired for $500 each. I still want a collection of German K98 (Israeli, Port, Norwegian, Iraq, etc etc.). I sold my M24/47, M48, and VZ24 during the Covid craze.
I hear you, I missed out on stuff he sold the last 4 times, so I feel your frustration. You could still swing for one Atlantic is selling, but no guarantees on the condition, but I'll be getting one soon, I just ordered ones of theirs today.
They look beautiful. My only issue is I felt like I could get an actual WW2 one for the same amounts. I will day they are rare and also have wonderful crests.
@@The_Casual_Collector Yeah I feel like I have enough safe queens and this if I won it would probably never be shot. Often if I get a gun that is in much better condition than I expected I will then not want to shoot it lol.
Ordered one from Atlantic … was watching it close after I failed to get one from TMC. Should arrive this Thursday! I also got the other Portuguese combo… so I’ll have a ton of ammo. Hope mine has tiger stripes or decent shape like yours.
I just got mine… it’s amazing condition. Bore looks almost unfired. All matching but bayonet and cleaning rod. Finished is very nice only some wearing around front barrel bands. Very happy with it.
Congrats on the purchase. They are in amazing condition given their age. After my attempt at TMC's first batch of two of them failed (10:00 am on the dot), I didnt even try for the second batch and probably won't again. Just not my thing, hate losing 😂. He clearly lays it out there that it might take several orders before you get something, and the crazy amount of people who still try even knowing they probably won't get said item is a testament to Alden and the business he's built. Look forward to some range footage in the future.
Thanks! Yeah, I nearly gave up after 4 consecutive failed attempts...I'm beginning to wonder if others may have some sort of method to being successful...I know one thing, I'm seriously impressed with how nice the batch was. It seems like he takes the time to pick out the nicest ones. I'm curious to see how the one from Atlantic will look...
I debated on getting one from Atlantic just long enough for them to sell out...one of those 'just because I could, should I' deals but honestly one of the deciding factors was believing it wouldn't be as nice as the ones from TMC. Anxious to see how they compare. The other factors being the delivery of a long awaited build (2+ years, worth the wait, thx Dennis), a weekend auction purchase that I spent too much on, and a looming call from the cmp 1911 program around mid December if I have it figured close. I really hate to say anything positive about RTI, but the one you got from them looks pretty good considering what usually comes out of Africa. I've seen far worse....at least from a few feet away 😂.
@The_Casual_Collector fantastic. Matching bayonet and sling. They were individualized listings so i was able to pick the one i wanted. Theirs didn't have as prominent of waffens on the wood. I picked one that was fairly legible.
