On the Blu-Ray there is an easter egg, I suppose - the video of 'Something'. On your remote, push 'right' on 'Something' and 'video' will appear on the screen. Press play on this and voila! Anyway, thanks and keep up the good work!
Mine was waiting for me on my doorstep once I got home from work. I’ve already downloaded it and listened to it on the Sennheisers, and I’m not as blown away as with the last two. That is, I wasn’t blown away until “Here Comes The Sun”.
Fred Dingbar They sounds fine. The sharpness of the guitars and punch of the drums are great. I’m just not blown away as with the other releases. There is definitely a difference between this and the original album, original CD pressing, the 2009 remasters and my MFSL discs. Stuff with a lot of orchestral stuff is where I really notice a big difference.
Fred Dingbar Exactly. I am well aware of that. I listened to it without headphones and it did sound somewhat different. The clarity and the deeps are the most noticeable overall. The remaster had a slight muffled sound, so there’s no denying that this remix is a vast improvement. The sound is definitely updated and sounds like it could have been recorded a few minutes ago. The real challenge to our ears will be when Martin remixes the Past Masters after Let It Be. I’m hoping they squeeze that one between Let It Be and the possible Please Please Me/With the Beatles remixes for their 60th anniversaries.
Amazing set. Got mine on Friday. Wonderful experience listening to it. The DTS-HD mix is louder & heavier than the Dolby Atmos mix. The latter sounds nice but the DTS employs the rear channels a more more fully.
I decided to go for the 2 discs version this time...$70 difference for 5 extra outtakes and bluray and a book is just a little too much. Wish they would have included much more outtakes and demos for this box.
I'd moan about the skimpy number of outtakes, demos (and even banter) included. Should have been at least 2 more CDs of such material. The book could have been made of non-gloss and thinner paper if that would offset some of the costs of additional CDs. The S.D box set after all caters to fans who want to hear as much as possible of what the Beatles recorded. Why keep so much in the vaults - it's not like post Gen-X generations are going to be flocking to buy a 70th anniversary box set with outtakes not previously released in the 50th.
I think I saw video of Ringo saying he liked these remixes because the drums were brought up in the mix. I think it's true. As I've listened to these remixes, the drums are just a bit higher and a lot clearer.
Of the three Super Deluxe editions that we got for SPLHCB, TWA, and AR, my favorite in terms of packaging would have to be Abbey Road, the White Album is a close second but I was never too keen on The Pepper box, I really wasn't into that 3D cover
I really want that book! But I’d rather the vinyl version than having CDs Would love it if they sold the book separately at some point or add it to a vinyl box set
To think of what will be on a future 'Let It Be' box is totally mindblowing. Even though I just received by Abbey Road box, I love the Let It Be album and hope it will be celebrated with a deluxe anniversary box next year. Possible content? 1. The original album (newly remixed) 2. Let It Be Naked (newly remixed)3. Alternate Takes 4. Blu-ray with the Rooftop concert + interviews 5. Blu ray with hi/rez stereo mix/Atmos/5.1 comes with a hardcase book. Dreaming of it allready ;)
Completely agree with you about merging it with the vinyl set. I have the White Album and Abbey Road 50th Anniversary vinyl sets but it makes me very sad that the books only come in the CD sets!
If you have the Blu-Ray audio disk on “Her Majesty” you hear Paul’s vocal start at the right rear then it pans to the right front then center to left front and ends at the left rear speaker. It’s a great test for your surround sound system.
I'm pretty disappointed that Abbey Road is still not in stores where I live. Pepper and the White Album were both in stores on their release days where I live, yet here we are on day 4 and still no Abbey Road at Walmart, Target, F.Y.E, Best Buy, etc.. I didn't order one in the mail because I wanted to hear all the tracks before deciding which version to buy. I heard all the tracks on Thur. Sept. 26 and decided to only get the album. I don't really care about alternate takes, and "Come and Get It" is better on Anthology 3, and "Goodbye" is still the same poor quality as the bootleg that's been available for years. But the album itself sounds great! (except for her majesty at the end which fades from a completely right speaker to a completely left speaker, but that's easily fixable in audio software). Anyway, I was ready to go buy it on Friday morning. Nope! And I'm still waiting for it to arrive at the stores :( I guess I need some patience!
@@MichaelP_IsMe well that's pretty disappointing did Amazon hog up all the copies I've yet to go to my store and buy a copy, and I'll be quite disappointed because I would like to support my record stores!!!!✌
@@frederickfranchi6408 Me too! I buy some music digitally and back it up on burned CDs. But for stuff that I really like, I always want a physical copy with the album and disc artwork and booklet. And then I just back it up digitally. Plus I just like going into a record store and browsing/buying stuff. :)
What I like about this set is that the book has a little bit of more pictures than the white album were they went forever page after page with just text. The only reason I'm keeping the white album deluxe is because it has a really low number but other than that the book is just boring. Great video thanks for sharing!
I have some concerns... The first is the attitude or philosophy about the bass... What I’ve heard so far sounds like an extended bass solo and/or bass that steps on the other parts... It’s mainly in the middle where the lead vocal is... To me it tends to be too “in front” of the lead vocal and also it steps on the harmony vocals when those come from the sides and go “over the middle”, that is when the harmonies come to be in the center or middle of the soundstage... Part of this is because when attempting to make a more modern mix for younger listeners (as Giles as mentioned on multiple occasions) they decided to fill out every space for an overarching ambient feel... The problem, to my ears, is that the bass parts recorded for this album were not digitally recorded to today’s standards... Which allow for bigger bass that can be controlled better... and more to the point... Where do you position the bass? It’s down the middle except I thing they briefly pull it to the side in “Come Together” towards the end of the track. The bass is muddy to me../ I’m not trying to shit on this outright but along with the amazing clarity of the earlier generation tapes and the warmth and richer timbres goes the responsibility to not make one part stand out... I understand that they attenuated the bass and the drums back in the day to accommodate lower quality setups but they could have had some prominent bass work here but chosen the middle position less than they did... and considered that the bass is often better as a more subliminal part of the presentation. I’ll probably get this at some point and I am trying to get past my issues with the bass on this... I know that I’m probably in the minority on this...
I optioned for only the two CD set. And there everything is smaller to package to a CD size package. The first CD is Abbey Road proper and the second is the bonus/outtakes of the album. It does include an abridged copy of the enclosed book(let). I am happy with the release. I have the download digital of the 50th anniversary of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The remix of that was outstanding. That is why I elected to buy a physical copy of Abbey Road 50th. Although I currently own the vinyl (on the old purple Capitol label circa 1979-1981) and the original CD release of the album (not the 2009 remaster). I thought for a second before you got the discs out, you had ordered the vinyl (as one of those people) and was relieved when I saw it was the CD set.
Its Saturday at 5:15 pm. I just got my copy of the 50th Anniversary Beatles 3 lp boxed set. On the outside of the smaller cardboard shipping box that the boxed set came in and on the back of the album cover, it says MADE IN GERMANY!!??!! Anybody else have this on theirs?
Awesome recording..I love the sound..there are some instruments that we hear which we never hear in the original mix..they sound louder in this mix..my go to LP is always the 1969 original mix and I love the outtakes....the book itself is worth the price, some folks do burn the CDs from the library copies in lossless mode.
This remix sounds amazing. It’s not quite as mind blowing as the Sgt Pepper remix, but that’s mainly because the original stereo mix of Sgt Pepper was horrible. So much clarity and space is provided in this new mix, you can hear elements that previously were buried/hard to hear. Everything from Billy Preston’s organs on I Want You to the warmth and noise of the Moog on Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. It was like listening to the album for the first time all over again.
Thanks tjr you did a great job presenting your video it was very interesting you did a better job then Willy @ band with the band/ man with the girly hands🤣😂👍
I’m probely just gonna get the 2 CD edition because I got to save money for when we move and I haven’t even got the white album box just the 3CD edition with Esther demos. But I listen to the box on Spotify and...I’m trying an experiment, I’m playing the instruments only version of “Because from the box set and trying to sync with the voices only version from Anthology 3...I can’t seem to do it accurately because the instrumental version seems to be a tiny bit faster. No matter how perfectly I cue it, it still sound off.
from the three box sets, the best box design is sgt pepper. because the cds are packaged in the gatefold of a replica of the vinyl and the book is separated from it and within a box which emulates an emi tape. and also it includes posters. they should have done the same with abbey road which is a much better album as far as the music concerns.
Went for the 3lp set. Very disappointed. I thought it was a bit pricey to begin with, but I gotten everything since 64 , so.....The sound on the lps is fine, but the packaging is pretty cheap.. The original lp is in it's own jacket, but the other 2 lps are squeezed into a single sleeve. They could have at least put each lp it's it's own sleeve., as there are enough out take photos. Only a 4 page fold over sheet for info. Sorry, but not worth the money for this package.
Maybe it's just me, but this release seems to be lacking somewhat from the last two : can't pinpoint what it is. Really enjoy your videos TJR : thanks for making them.
Don't get wrong i love Abbey road but i wasn't very excited over the remix. Yes i did stream it and it sounded ok to me not mind blowing. The remix that was mind blowing to me was Sgt. Pepper that was just incredible and the super deluxe is superior inmo. Can't wait for your review!
Boring more repackaged old stuff the Beatles them selves thought of Putting out due to being boring. Just like Anthology series. They cannot get enough money. Oh and as for Mr Ringo Starr, he don’t care just keep the money coming, poor Beatles Fans.. wake up...
@@jetsamperes5762 That's not really true. The Beatles lost a big chunk of their popularity in the immediate 6 or 7 years after they broke up. I remember buying several Beatles albums in Woolworth's in 1975 in their bargain basement for $1.00 a piece. I also remember being teased in high school art class in 1976 for playing the "Let It Be" album. Everybody was saying "Don't you have anything new? Man, those guys are history." I grew up with the Beatles and I actually think they're more popular now than they were in the 60s.
