I don't usually do unboxing videos..or..you know..ever, but this is different! Fedora!! Stay tuned for the next adventure currently in editing! Caverns!
That’s a handsome hat, Brian. Grandpa always said “If you want to protect your noggin from the brutal rays of the sun, get you a handsome, dependable hat.” #MissionAccomplished 👍🏻
That was great!! Good job. Looks like you’ve done this before. My dad always wore hats like these but a shorter rim. He bought my mom a hat with a feather on the side. Something about the placement made it a handsome hat. She wore proudly to church and special occasions.❤️ Thanks you and Stacy have a way to make mundane things fun.
This was KOOL! I thought you looked like you knew what you were doing!---I've watched every season of TIME TEAM, and archeologist Phil Harding had one hat he wore FOR YEARS, and FINALLY got a new one...everyone had to make a big fuss, because IT WAS a BIG DEAL! Then that one got truly worn in for the next several years of seasons...so, it'll be my great pleasure to see yours...DOWN THE ROAD!
A koo bra say it as it is written my way that is the aussie way to say our Akubra hats, btw love watching you and Stacey I have learnt so much about your history, love your adventures. Ty so much for taking the time to take us along... Cathy :)
There's more to hats than I could have ever imagined. I never noticed your blue tooth. Here in microsoftland (Seattle area) people have had them hanging out of their heads for years.
David Morgan offers for an added cost, a blocking service so your Akubra Adventurer will be shaped according to your preference. I didn’t want to do the work myself and had my fedora blocked in the Indy Jones’ style. Happy with it! 😊
Oh wow....Nothing like unboxing a brand new Fedora😍 I may be female, but I wear my Fedora, especially this last year of no hair cuts😂You are for sure going to be styling and profiling.....when you remember to take out the bluetooth🐾🦊🐺
Wearing straw is a good alternative in the summer in a humid climate. I’m going to try cotton in the dry climate I inhabit. Waiting on a new Covenant safari hat.
That's where you turn it a little right? I recently saw that technique on a video and have been trying to get it. This hat is really stiff so I think its gonna take a little wearing, but I've seen progress
@@DTRBrianMallard Correct. You place the hat on your head and turn it clockwise until you achieve the desired swoop/distortions of the brim. You will have to bash the crown with an offset from true center pinch and center crease. I remember when people discovered what they started calling The Raiders Turn in the early 2000s. They were so excited when they found out why Ford's hat had this unique look. Until then some had thought Ford had a misshapen head!
@@DTRBrianMallard What is the difference between the two? Also I am seeing a lot of post about Penman Hats and Steele and Jones? What are your thoughts on them?
@@hester6191 the Akubra Federation is made by The Hattery and the Adventurer (like mine) is made by David Morgan, so it's two different makers. The Federation is more deliberately made to look like Indy's where as the Adventurer is, still made to look like Indy's but not quite as literally. Some of the others you mentioned I haven't owned but I believe them to be really good Indy hats, they are just in a considerably higher cost bracket
Also the Akubra hats, from what I've read, weather the elements really well. I don't know what the ongoing durability of the other makers are, but I think you want to make sure you get Fur fur felt over wool
Hello Brian! I hope you still enjoy your Indy hat. Very good work, congratulations. I understand that in OPEN CROWN the hat comes home measuring 5.5 inches in crown height. When the final shape of the hat is given, how tall is the crown? I ask you all this because I am very close to ordering my Akubra Adventurer just like yours. Thank you very much for your kind response and I hope you continue to enjoy your hat. Greetings!
I like it, but with time the crown seems to have gotten shorter. Next time I would go for the Akubra Federation instead. I've never had one so I don't know how it stands up to the Adventurer.
I love the hat, want one too, therefor I watched. Great vid too, now I SURE know I want one haha. But man, that was the worst piece of cyncing in RU-vid history! Still, thank you, and the hat looks great!!
@@DTRBrianMallard Hey, that's weird. Now it's totally fine haha. Think a glitch on my machine. Sorry, my bad. But, like I said, love the vid, now even more :)
@@KeesKouwenberg oh I gotcha lol.. glad you enjoyed it! I've had the hat a year now and it holds up like a champ. The Akubra Federation is really good too
Man you did a great job .. mighty brave of you too. Love Fedoras .. I have a few too. I wouldn't ever try that .. I'd prob make a mess outta a Fedora. What is the rating on ur Fedora?
Thank you! I'd give this hat a 10 for quality and durability at least so far. It's not easily shapable as some are but I think it will handle the elements well. I've had a lot of Fedoras and some didn't turn out so well, but many of them were cheap. This one is fun!
@@DTRBrianMallard Yes that may mean 50x .. not familiar with that company. But hey I think u made that typo above on purpose so Robert will leave it alone .. lol .. sharable!!
Love the Fedora! I’ve always wanted a custom George Strait Resistol ….and I bought in way back when I was young, had a job and no real responsibilities. Of course I didn’t make enough money for a custom hat sooooo, being a tiny human person; it never fit. Kids hats are often even too big. There is no middle ground with my head and hats….too big or too small. I know what it’s like to want something for a really long time or to collect something that needs a particular addition. So congratulations!!
