I had an American Staunton set once. Sold it to a former coworker. The one I had was from wholesale chess. I did like the set except for the Rooks were just too small and the King had a cross that was 1/2 long. To me it seemed like it was a library size set trying to be a tournament size set. Yours seemed a bit bigger but the Rooks in my opinion are still too small and the ramparts are way too tall and has a snapping hazard to the design. I know that the Rooks share the same Rook design as the Reykjavik set does. Which is one part of the Reykjavik set I don't care for. The Bishops head reminds me of a Hershey's Kiss. Not a bad design just rather an observation. If the Rooks were designed bigger and taller. It would be a better set in my opinion. Good club and tournament set.
Yeah, rooks are a touchy subject in the chess community... some people LOVE tough, sturdy and tall rooks whereas others (me tenfold) love smaller and more round and curvy rooks ... it's really a matter of personal preference but I respect both arguments! Yeah, the bishops are my favorite part of this set. They oddly remind me of the teapot character from Beauty and the Beast (LOL). What's your favorite chess set?
Hello. I have a question : are the bishops a little bit smaller than ypur knights in your set? I have a Classic 3.75" Ebonized Chess Set from Chess House and the knights are taller than the bishops (something not so common to see in a chess set. Regards...
Benjamin Johnson thank you so much for appreciating my content! Sub for more ❤️ My funds are running low at the moment so the next time I will be unboxing something will be in quite a long time! Cheers bro
Jordan Woods they still in mint condition but personally I don’t like black pieces because they are bad for photography (my work) so I use them less often! All about the intent!

About the same height or bishop is a smidge taller. I also have chess pieces from the chess house right here and the bishop is taller than the knight...im sorry to say this but you may have gotten a bad batch...Not the first time i hear this inconsistency from the chess house.
@@thechessnerd Yeah, that's what I thought at the beginning, but actually the model I had was: www.chesshouse.com/collections/wood-chess-pieces-ebonized/products/classic-3-75-ebonized-chess-pieces and if you look at the picture you can clearly see that the bishop is slightly smaller than the knight. Maybe it's a matter of models...
