So this is an RC bucket list item for me! The big 5th scale gas powered buggies. This Rovan 30.5 cc came from Banggood.com with the tank tracks and skis(that make it way more expensive but look awesome). In this video we unbox, prep and get it out for a run. This is my first ever gas as well as large scale RC, so come learn with me about these things!

Rc Everyday I’d like to welcome you to the 1/5 scale empty wallet club. Get a killer bee engine kill switch for your Baja if it loses radio signal or battery dies/disconnects this thing will takeoff and will not stop until it hits someone or something. Plus you’ll need front & rear alloy shock brace the rear one will bend after some big hard jumps. Get a air filter outerwear to stop dust getting into the engine & pull starter & engine outerwears to stop grass mud & small stones getting in

Cool baggy. Yes don't be shy of using lock tite on the drive plate behind the clutch. Real pain in the bum when they back out and jam the clutch. You will prob want a hand full of dog bones for the drive shafts or is a first upgrade in my opinion. That spring on the back of the linkage adjusts the brakes. To adjust the throttle you move the stoppers at the carb linkage. Hope you have fun with it though. I miss my Baja.

I used to live near big sand dunes. So I had mine set up with paddle tiers. Was so much fun to see two big rooster tails of sand behind it and lurnch it into the air off the top of the dunes. I used to make custom parts for these things as well and do polishing and powder coating of them.

Only thing I’ve seen is the wheelie bar wheel came off on a few people. But I’ve heard very little bad things about it. Seems it’s a really good bang for your buck. Those tracks are freakin awesome!! I’ve only seen 1/10 scale tracks. Never seen 1/5 scale. 👍😁

25:1 for break in and 28:1 after that, use dominator or lucas stroke oil

I have the 1/5 scale Redcat Racing Dunerunner which is a very similar buggy to this. It's a 32cc engine. I believe the recommended gas and oil mixture Redcat recommended was 20:1 and it runs pretty well on that with a little white smoke from time to time. I upgraded my rear upper control arms to aluminium and used locktite so the adjustments don't loosen. This is an awesome looking buggy though, hope to see more videos! And snow videos!

25:1 is the recommended ration you can get on the rovan website to find out also they are cheaper from there site you can get a30.5 cc for 422 .

I have the Losi 1/5 buggy and keep the fuel mixed a little heavy. Better safe than sorry. Just keep an extra spark plug on hand.

Shit man, thats a monster, I didn't realise how big it was until you put your hand in front of the tracks, you don't need the battery to do the engine break in, i'm pretty sure the battery is just for the servos and receiver, keep up the great work .

If I could stop wrecking it, lol. Only issues Im having are from damage Ive done. The engine still starts up quick and runs perfectly.

I do. I've been working in this industry for a long time. I've seen hundreds of people buy these Chinese clones at this point, and within a year they've replaced everything with HPI parts, at twice the cost of what a Baja would've been. You get what you pay for.

Right away you're going to notice that you're going to start breaking Parts shock Towers Etc that's where you spend less money and get less quality of Parts I've had HPI 5 Baja Short Course Truck all I've had to do is replace one plastic pinion gear and I've been beating the crap out of it for almost 3 years and that's the only thing I've replaced besides things me running it into and breaking but it's beat and it still keeps kicking so you're going to catch yourself upgrading things pretty quick but have fun

They talk about braking them in. How many time have you bought a weed eater and run it 5 tank of fuel through it before you drive it hard. I have drag raced an bought lot of motors. Im not talking cheap ass motor. You start it up an drive like you are go to race it. That is one of my next buys.
