Hey! Great video. I just installed mine and there seems to be hot air leaking through both ends of the tube from the machine and at the window. Any suggestions? Thanks!
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies 3 месяца назад
Thanks for your feedback! If you’re running it in A/C mode then that hot air is the exhaust air that needs to be pushed outside through the exhaust tube. Have you hooked up your exhaust tube and locked it? If you look at the back side of the A/C unit where the tube connection housing is there’s a 🔒 lock sign. You need to make sure that exhaust tube is seated correctly and turned to the lock sign side. Let me know if you have any questions.
@user-ll4te6lf1e
@user-ll4te6lf1e 3 месяца назад
Thanks so much for the reply. I thought I locked both sides in place but maybe there is a way to secure it further. I attached the hose then turned it a quarter turn. Is that enough or should I turn it further? If I hold it and push it tight the hot air then obviously stops leaking.
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies 3 месяца назад
@@user-ll4te6lf1e of course. 😊 From the way it sounds the exhaust hose doesn’t seem like it’s hooked up all the way in. If you look at the end piece of the exhaust tube (the side that hooks up to the back of the unit itself) there are lock and unlock signs on the tube. And there’s an arrow on the housing of the unit where the tube connects to. As long as those lock/unlock signs align with that pointing arrow sign the tube will be locked/unlocked respectively. Hope this makes sense. Let me know if any of the above sounds confusing.

Does the window bracket include a screen where the exhaust duct plugs in?
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies 5 месяцев назад
Yes, it does. It has a dedicated oval shaped cut off area specifically for the exhaust where it can be plugged in. The exhaust hose end has small tabs that click on to the oval shaped cut area on the bracket to help keep the exhaust duct in place. Hope this helps.

Hi, does this unit build up water inside the house, which eventually needs to be drained at any point ?
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies 5 месяцев назад
Hello. Yes, it does. However, I only have to dump the water when it’s in heater mode. Another words I only do it during winter days. When it’s in A/C, Dehumidifier or regular Fan modes it has this ‘auto water evaporation’ feature where it allows the water to evaporate by turning the collected water into mist. Thus, I don’t have to empty the water container as often, only during cold days. Hope this helps.

This is my first time owning one 😅 do I need to do anything about water drainage? Like am I supposed to have a bucket or something under that black cap? or is there like an alert it gives me when I need to drain it?
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies Год назад
Firstly congrats on your purchase. 😊 So basically you can either run the hose that came with the unit. Leave one end of the hose inside a bucket or deep pan and connect the other end to A/C unit’s drainage hole. Or you can just keep the hole plugged with black rubber piece and let the A/C unit collect the moisture inside its reservoir. Whenever reservoir gets filled it’ll automatically stops from working and won’t come on until collected water is drained from its water reservoir. Hope this helps.

I just set up my B&D 14000 BTU unit and I noticed that you installed the window slider with the ledges facing in rather than the way of illustration. I just want to say to ANYBODY that has THIS unit.... IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH WAY!! Although I saved 1 step by NOT using the part of slider kit that he cut. I had weatherstripping foam that I placed on top to seal the gap this way i can move it around to other windows. Also, chalk rope is great and mess free to seal gaps. I really appreciate this video!! 🎉🎉Thank You

@@SOBIsHobbies how long before the area got cool & how big of an area? Had you tried the Heat yet?
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies 2 месяца назад
@@LovelyRitas I would say it normally takes about 10-15 minutes at most to cool/warm the area where I have this unit installed. The room size is approximately 20x12 give or take. And yes, I have already used it during cool winter days to keep the room warm. I must say it really does a great job to warm up the room. This 14,000 BTU unit is quite powerful for the size of my room. Some people said that they used this very unit to cool their entire homes while their main centralized HVAC units were down.

@@SOBIsHobbies I just bought a house in the south that has no air. I typically didn't like air-conditioning in wisconsin but in the south the humidity/dew point is horrible. I couldn't commit to 1 window because I'll have to move it from 1 half of house to other side at nite, like 1143 Sq ft.

@SOBIsHobbies 2 месяца назад
@@LovelyRitas Congratulations on your purchase! Well 1100+ Sq. Ft. might be a little much for this unit to control the interior air but definitely better than not having any A/C at all for sure. 😊

Hi, thanks for the video. Do you mind me asking, it would seem by the date you published this video you would be in your second summer of owning this unit, how’s it working out?
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies Год назад
Thanks for watching! It’s been holding up quite good actually. Having it set to 76 F degrees helps our main centralized A/C unit big time to keep our house nice and cool during hot summer days and same goes during winter days when running its heater feature when set to 68 F. We’re so glad that we bought this unit and if there’s anything I only regret that we didn’t buy it sooner when we first bought our house.

I just bought this fir a new office, but I don’t have a window. Will it work?
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies Год назад
Well, it needs to release the hot air that comes out from the motor from working. With that said it’s not impossible to run it indoors without a window access. However, it will also be blowing all that hot air to indoors from the back while it’s running.

Should the drain hose need to be installed?
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies 2 месяца назад
It is totally optional. I have it hooked up because we live in Florida and due to high level of humidity in the air the water container gets filled up rather quickly. Thus, I installed the water drain hose and put the other end of the hose inside small bucket so I don’t have to empty the water tank frequently.

Do you know what kind of extension cord would work?
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies 2 месяца назад
Don’t quote me on this (please) but I do not think it’s recommended to run this unit via extension cord. I’m quite certain that I even read this somewhere in the manual where it was mentioned that it has to be directly plugged in to a wall outlet due to the mass amount of energy it requires to run.

@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies Год назад
If you’re asking about the screws that were used to bind those plastic pieces together then I don’t particularly remember their sizes. However, any small #8 1/2” or similar size screws should work just fine. I would also recommend getting screws either meant for either wood or plastic materials. Hope this helps.

I just bought one of these I'm using the heat do I need to use the draining hose
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies Год назад
Hi. I think it depends. We live in Florida and as you know already our state is known for its extensive humid weather. Nevertheless, I'm currently also running our portable A/C in heater mode. And about once every 10 days or so I need to drain its water retaining tank because over time it absorbs the moisture from the air. With that said, I wouldn't necessarily leave the draining hose attached instead I'd keep an eye on the small display from time to time where it may show the letters "Ft" which I believe stands for 'full tank'. And then stand up the A/C unit on some kind of platform where you can put a small bucket or pan below it to drain the water. I personally found that method to be more effective than using the draining hose that it came with. FYI, if you decide to follow my method be sure the draining hole plug is all the way closed while A/C is being used. Otherwise, water may leak. Also, be sure to disconnect the unit from an electrical outlet before starting the draining process. Hope this helps.

These are the maximum and minimum window size numbers based on the user manual: MAX: 59” (145 CM) MIN: 20.5” (52.07 CM) You can cut the slider kit to your desired length if the window opening is shorter than 20.5”. Hope this helps.

As long as you have the same remote as my unit came with then all you have to do is to depress on those three lines on the back of the remote and try to slide out the battery compartment cap. That’s how my remote control’s battery compartment cap opens. Hope this helps.

Is there any way you can adjust the speed?
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies Месяц назад
There are 3 or 4 different fan speeds that you can choose from if you want to run it constantly. I set mine to auto and set desired temperature, so the A/C only kicks in when the interior temperature goes above the desired set temperature. Hope this helps.

@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies 2 месяца назад
@keepingupwithmike the room where I have this A/C unit setup is actually bigger than your trailer (about 20’x12’) and it does a very good job keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter days. As long as the unit you have is the same model 14,000 BTU I’m sure you won’t have any problems keeping your trailer cool in summer months and warm in winter.

Can you run it with out putting the holes out the window?
@SOBIsHobbies
@SOBIsHobbies Год назад
You can but it would be sort of defeating the purpose of the A/C by releasing the extracted hot air from the room/area back to it through its exhaust pipe. When the unit is running there’s noticeable warm-to-hot air that gets released to outside from that exhaust pipe.
